Character name: George Fabian Weasley Dysfunction: The Borderline Alcohol Date of Birth (Assuming Year 2009 as start): April 1, 1978 Age: 30 Occupation: Owner, Operator Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual Preferred PB: Paul Bettany (age 37) Prospective Journal Name: _allears
Appearance: Light red, dark strawberry blonde, stick straight, goes whichever direction it wants. George is average, no muscles really since quitting Quidditch, but thin, well defined fingers. Missing his right ear. The skin there is pink and puckered around the dark hole that is his ear cannal. Pale, freckled and, well, pale. Lately, George's hair has been getting a bit light from all the time he spends outdoors (he avoids spending too much time in his flat alone.) Fred and George had a growth spurt after leaving Hogwarts and though George certainly isn't the tallest son in the family, he is also now no longer the shortest. He has pale blue eyes and a warm smile. Though most didn't know, George has a birthmark on his arse and it was the only way Molly could tell them apart as babies. George lost his right ear in the war and only a dark hole remains. He still has an excellent sense of hearing.
Personality: Bites his nails, drums his fingers and taps his foot incessantly when thinking. He worries his lip when nervous and fidgets when uncomfortable. While George's smiles are genuine and sincere, his family has always been able to discern George's fake smile from the rest - though it is harder for his friends to notice it and very rare for a stranger to be able to pick up on it. The tell tale sign of a fake George smile is the tick in his left dimple. Close observer's will notice his left dimple twitch if he's pulling a false smile. George in an excellent liar, but he has an obvious tell - he always looks to his left before he lies. Fred pointed it out to him, and though George tries his best to keep from doing it, he only makes his tell worse by attempting to hide it.
Personal History: Fred and George Weasley were born on one of the best days of the year and played a great trick on their Mum on only day one - Molly Weasley got two more sons when she was expecting only one. George Fabian Weasley was born only ten minutes after Fred, and despite whatever Fred ever told anyone else, he was never George, but Fred. They enjoyed their time at Hogwarts, where they created and perfected many of their best-selling Wheezes. Together, George was sure he and Fred would rock the Wizarding world with their inventions. Together. Ever since Fred's death, George has wondered just how he has managed to get up each day and go on without his other half. George has continued to live above the store for the last ten years. He has tea with Molly and Arthur, and any of his siblings that can make it, every Sunday afternoon. He never misses one. He still sees his mates from school, but for the most part, he keeps to his experiments and to the store, or he's off meeting new suppliers, testing new pranks, making new contacts - but above all, he is never in his flat alone except to perform the most basic necessities. He doesn't even eat in the flat.
Between the two of them, George always enjoyed a good pint and brunettes, but lately there seems to be more of the prior and less of the latter - not that George has been avoiding birds. Rather, he was just sure they felt sorry for him more than they actually wanted to date him. Not to mention, all his good stories and small talk lead to Fred. George's anecdotes just don't seem as funny since Fred died. George had always been a casual smoker, though he rarely let anyone know. When Fred died, George gave up hiding the fact from anyone except his mother, who he is rather sure does know, but they both go on pretending for the sake of not starting a fight. George refrains from provoking his mother as much as possible since Fred died. George isn't blind to the fact that quite a few things in his life are labeled 'since Fred died.' It's been lonelier since Fred died, and quieter too. Family gatherings are still raucous and crowded, but the subject of Fred is generally avoided. George also isn't blind to the fact that a room goes quiet when he apparates in. He knows that without Fred, it's less of an entrance. Twenty years of his life were full of twice the exhuberance, but not since Fred died.
Because George would rather keep his mind occupied than let it travel to unwelcome memories, he has poured himself into his work. He has spent the last two years perfecting a set of candies that perform some of the basic skills of an animagus, such as simple changing of hair and eye color. He is hoping that the candies will have more efficiency and control than similar products in the market. He has nearly finalized the testing of a dog treat that turns pets a desired color, for those witches and wizards whose lap dogs just have to match their dress robes. It is a complimentary treat to his line of hair-design candies, providing new and interesting colors, textures and instant styles for any coiffure. George prefers the office and lab to the front counter at WWW, but without Fred there to be the face of the two, George has taken up both roles. After work he can often be found hunched over his desk in teh back of WWW, creating, continuing on and not remembering what it was like to live. George hasn't really lived since Fred died.
Outwardly, George Weasley is still the same pranking, teasing twin he's always been. He still enjoys pulling gags on his mates and his still gets a kick from making jokes at other people's expense, though he's a bit of dick about it these days. His humor is noticeably more snark and bite than laughing smiles. He knows that other people assume he's alright, that he's finally come to grips with Fred's passing and after his rather convincing reassurance, they stopped popping in every night with food or a kind word or booze. At work George is light and spry, eager to help customers and quick with a smile or joke. He helps man the counter and lets the shop girl take long lunches and leave early on Fridays. Fellow businessmen and women on Diagon Alley admire the way George pours himself into his work. Whether hanging a new poster outside the store or sweeping the front step in the morning, George is always present at Weasleys' and quick with a wave to any familiar passerby.
"What a blessing," they say in hushed tones. "He lost his twin brother in the war, you know. So lucky to have work he can devote his time to..." They think he can't hear them, take his lack of a right ear as a sign that he can't hear just as well as ever. They don't know him at all, can't see the way his smile fades after he sends the last customer home and locks the door. They don't know the feeling he gets every time he walks up the stairs to his flat to find it empty of anyone and everything but himself. He hangs up his coat on the hook labeled G. He fixes a haphazard meal for one, consisting of a bottle of Odgen's and a glass. His showers are the only part of his day where he doesn't rush about. He takes his time, lets the water wash away the day and delays the inevitable trek to his room and the solitary bed there. The room always looks empty now, no matter where he puts the bed. He finally bought a full sized so he didn't have to say he owned a single or a twin. It never takes him less than two hours to fall asleep and he can never quite sleep for more than four or five hours - and when he gets up again the next morning, he starts his routine the same as he's done every day since the war. He washes his face and shaves with his eyes closed. He doesn't own a mirror. He can't stand seeing Fred looking back at him.
