ever and always a lady. Ethereal beauty that all fae have, though with a touch of oddness at the same time. Azura stands at a slightly above average height for a woman. Five feet, ten inches. Her build is slender with gentle curve and legs that seem to go on for miles. Her skin is a creamy alabaster and is flawless. Defined cheekbones and an angular jaw give her a visage that can be entirely severe. But it is softened by gray eyes. The color of clouds just before a storm. Her hair is black and she prefers to keep it cut short. The longest it's seen is to her shoulders. Her way of dress is always lady-like. Azura has always preferred dresses and skirts and can nearly always be found in such attire. Only her sister has been able to talk her into trying clothes of a more masculine nature. And it never, ever sticks. PERSONALITY WHAT DOES A LADY MAKE? A product of a mother who always preached what was prim and proper and lady-like, Azura fancies herself to be exactly what a lady should be. She is the extreme opposite of her sister in most every way. The yin to her yang, so to speak. She is a woman of many traits. But the one she values most is intelligence. She is very much the type to think before she acts and to think through whatever possible actions might bring about. Being reckless has not been a part of her nature since her days as a child. After that, she simply assumed that her sister gained enough capacity for recklessness for the both of them. Well-spoken and eloquent, Azura knows well when to speak her mind. But she also knows well enough when to hold her tongue. It is something all must know, she feels. But not all do. Her knowledge extends to a fair many things. Quite a few of which center around her duties as a lady in waiting to the Fae Queene. One to follow rules, she doesn't take well to chaos and disorder. If presented with it, she will try her best to get things back on the track that they're meant to be on. She will think problems through to the best ability and likes to think that she is good with solving them. Despite her seeming rigidity (or her sense of being high strung, as some would call it), Azura is an artistic soul. The Dennan are known for producing a great many artists and writers among their kind. She very much loves to paint and to draw as well as play instruments, and finds them to be an outlet for the things she cannot express in her words and mannerisms. Things that she finds improper or impractical to think or feel, mostly. Her jealousy of her sister is one such thing. Artana possesses an outlook on life so much different from her own that she finds herself envious of it at times. Not that she would ever admit it. Perhaps somewhere, deep down, Azura wants to grasp those same pleasures of life in whatever way she pleases, whenever she pleases. But she does not know how to properly deal with these feelings. So she pushes them down. Quirks/Habits: Often organizes and tidies things when she lacks things to do, blinks when she curses (as if it's a physical rejection of the words), is always trying to get her sister to act and dress in a more feminine manner, likes to sing or play an instrument when it rains Likes: Painting, the sky during and after a storm, serving her Queene, the finer things in life Dislikes: Overly coarse behavior, chaos and discord, arrogance to the point of ridiculousness, people who never take things seriously HISTORY THE LADY'S STORY The Fairy Circles. A beautiful spot within the forest inhabited by creatures of magic. The common, the noble, the royal and the elders. It is there that this story begins. Of the noble families, the Dennan are well-known for producing great artists and writers among the fae. They were loyal to the royals and served them diligently. That is how it has been since the beginning of the family. Ekayvan and Devina Dennan were no different. He a great poet who also possessed a hand for physical combat and she a musician with a clever wit hidden behind the finest gowns and a lady's demure nature. Technically, they were cousins. More distantly. But for the sake of not sullying the bloodline of their family, they were brought together in a match. Both were more than happy to fulfill the arrangement. The two were wed, and with union consummated, the two produced a child. A girl named Azura. "Sky blue" or "sky jewel." She was a quiet infant. Less fussy and far more agreeable than can be said for other children. Her mother was very much pleased with this. Even from an early age, it could be seen that Azura found more solace in her mother than in her father. As a small girl she could be seen clinging to her mother's skirts and shying away from her father. But she loved them both and told them so often. Aptitude for certain things came to light rather easily in Azura. She loved her father's poetry and could recite it beautifully, though her attempts at writing her own were more lackluster. Music and performance were more her forte. The violin, primarily. Followed by the harp. And she also enjoyed art. Her mother sought to incorporate these things into her lessons as soon as possible. As well as her music and art, Azura was taught etiquette. The proper way for a lady of a noble fae family to carry herself. How to speak. How to dress. How to be. Her father thought it all a bit much, but she loved her etiquette lessons. She took each new skill, rule and lesson to heart, incorporating them into her life. Being an only child suited her just fine, so far as she was concerned. Her parents never expected another child. But life has a way of surprising those who expect it the least. Another daughter was born into their family. Artana was her name. At the time, Azura was forty years old. By outside standards, that was old. But amongst the fae, she could still be considered very young. The gap between herself and her sister was not all that great, as compared with others. As any older sister should have, she assisted her parents with Artana in whatever way she was asked. And even if you couldn't much tell from the way she looked, it could easily be seen in her eyes that she was pleased to have someone she could call 'sister.' Considering Artana was often in the arms of their father much of the time, Azura was stand back and assist their mother more often than not. But she made it a point to visit in her sister's room each night to sing so that the younger girl would sleep well. Despite the rapport they had with each other, it was clear that the two sisters were different. Where Azura had been more attached to their mother, Artana was more attached to their father. She still had to have etiquette lessons, but it did not go as smoothly. Devina was strict with her younger daughter, finding it the only way to handle her difficult nature. Her patience wore thin at a certain point, however. And so Azura volunteered to try and teach her sister in etiquette instead. Though they were like opposite sides of a coin, they still were sisters. They bonded on a different sort of level, and Azura had no shortage of love for her little sister...even if she was clumsy, never wished to wear the proper clothes and didn't have that sense of a lady about her much of the time. Azura never said these things aloud, though. She did her best to try and teach the lessons in a way her younger sister would understand. Not just saying what had to be done, but why it was important that it be done. She exercised patience, and felt that Artana did improve, at least a bit. While her sister was more taken with activities of a more physical and athletic nature, Azura much preferred her art and her practices as a lady. Often enough, though, she'd steal away from her mother's company in order to watch the lessons that Artana received from Ekayavan. Self-defense and combat. Proficiency in wielding weapons. Though she never breathed a word to the effect, Azura was jealous. Though she endlessly enjoyed her more tame activities, she was always curious about those that her sister learned. Her father would ask if she wanted to learn as well, but she always responded with the same thing. It was not proper for a lady. But upon her father's insistence, she did eventually learn how to properly wield a knife. If only for her own safety if the need did arise. The weapon was small enough to be hidden among her skirts and not seen on her person, and so that was the compromise. And it made Azura happy, even if she never voiced it. Time had her growing into much the lady that her mother had been. Beauty and grace. An intelligent mind and eloquent speech. Talents in music, art and reciting poetry. And a skill in creative thinking and solving problems. Her mother was, and is immensely proud. And so when a new Fae Queene ascended to the throne, she sincerely hoped that her daughter would be selected as a lady-in-waiting to her majesty. Azura has that same hope. To her, serving the Queene with her skills is an honor and a privilege. | AZURA fae.
