Arliony Wedding -- 12/31/2008

The day has finally come. It's literally .. the wedding of the year. Arliony, as Tony and Charli have been so lovingly named, are tying the knot. And I bet that NONE of you thought it'd ever actually happen. Considering Tony's previous .. history. Let's face it, the guy's a dick. But this girl? She makes him a better man and he knows he'll never find anyone else that he loves more or who loves him more.

So while Arli was placing bets that she wouldn't be married until 2020 or some time even further in the distance, Tony asked her to marry him on New Year's Eve. Yes, it's a crappy day for a wedding because people don't want to be focusing on others on the holidays, they want to be focusing on themselves. Selfish bastards!! I kid, I kid. His reasoning for wanting to get married on the 31st? He wanted to start the new year, 2009, with his wife. Sappy, right? Very.

The date was set and the invitations mailed out. By way of apology for any and all inconvenience that it might be to drag everyone to Florida for the event, Tony happily took on all the extra costs. Plane tickets, hotel fees .. hell, he's even gonna cover room service. Nice, right?

Okay, so down to the actual details ..

The Who (Bridal Party and Guest List):
Tony and Arli .. obviously.
Tori (matron of honor) and Rome.
Jason Carr (best man) and Roxie.
Mr and Mrs Vittore Navagato (groom's parents).
Mr and Mrs Lucas Townsend (bride's parents).
Cash and Liv.
Ryan and Keegan.
Dani and Jake.
Bailey and Jeni.
Bernie and Salem.
Melodi and Rhett.
Rob and Keely.
Emily and Travis.
Alice.
Evan.
Morgan.
Adrien (yes .. THAT Adrien!).
Harley and the rest of the 'Heroes' cast.
Tony's other buds from the 'DSC' videos.
Random family members on both sides.

Basically, there'll be around 50 people there, give or take. Nothing outlandish, which is surprising for Tony. He's also managed to keep the date and the time and the place underwraps so it will be almost entirely paparazzi free.

December 29th, 2008 at 9 AM .. anyone who was joining the bridal party on the chartered flight out of LA .. they would need to be at the airport to join them. They were leaving out of some private runway that everyone would have gotten directions to. Anybody not joining them on the chartered flight should have received notice in the mail that their tickets were being held at the airline desk. The first two nights pretty much had the bridal party making sure that all the arrangements had been made and that everything was in good order, ready for the festivies on the 31st. So feel free to have your characters do .. whatever. They obviously don't need to stick around to help set up or anything.

December 31st, 2008 at 5 PM .. the wedding day is finally here. A path leading back toward the beach that is Hemingway's Cove is scattered with red rose petals. Arches strung with white linen and rose vines lead the way onto the beach. White folding chairs are set up on either side of a makeshift aisle raked into the sand and again scattered with petals. Another arch serves as the alter at the front, just before the water, with white torch lanterns on either side for light as the evening sets in. Upon entering the beached area, each guest was offered a small sheer bag filled with rose petals instead of rice.

The ceremony was relatively shorter than a typical Catholic ceremony, but was mostly traditional. Aside from the bride and groom throwing in their own vows .. which was almost to be expected from a pair who met in a college writing class years before. Haha! Arli, of course, looked amazing in her dress. Very much like a princess .. who made Tony cry the minute he saw her walking down the path to Canon in D, carrying a bouquet of red roses and small white flowers. Okay, so maybe not cry-cry .. but there were definite tears in the eyes!

The reception was to start around 6:30-7 PM in the Grand Cypress Ballroom. Tables were set up in one portion of the large room, adorned with white linen table clothes and glass vase centerpieces filled with dark red roses. Each table was set up for six people without little name cards because Tony figured people would want to choose who they sat with. Besides, seating charts were just far too much work.

At each place setting was all the necessary china, silverware, and glassware. While people were entering, one champagne glass at each seat was promptly being filled halfway with the same apple wine that had been used as the invitation. The champagne glass was one of the many wedding favors and had 'Antonio & Charli Navagato. December 31st, 2008.' etched onto it. Another of the wedding favors was resting on top of the plates in a simple gray box tied with a white bow.

Formal Reception Menu
Appetizer : Tomato and mozarella with garlic and oil.
Pasta : Penne with marinara sauce.
Salad : Choice of tossed or Caesar.
Main Course : Choice of grilled chicken, prime rib, or salmon. Served with steamed vegetables and garlic potatoes.

The reception will start off with dinner, since the hour is so late. Then it will go into the first dance, which the couple has prepared a special .. show for their guests. The dance will start off with the song 'At Last' by Etta James and will then flow into their own version of the Evolution of Dance. Mostly because Tony refused to have any of the typical stupid wedding music at the event. Which means no Chicken Dance or Electric Slide or YMCA. Nope.

Tony prepared a special surprise for Arli which probably happened shortly before the cake was cut. Tony isn't much for singing in public, though he did Wicked (both the movie and a stint on Broadway). But he sings for Arli quite often and he found a song that said pretty much everything he wanted to say to her .. that just described how he felt to her. So, Tony sang at the wedding. And this is the song he sang.

She's got a way - of getting inside your soul
She'd breach the walls of jericho
Make you fall like virgin snow
She's got a smile, makes you forget the things
You were only just thinking about
It kind of turns me inside out
And if I try to conceal, she's got a way to reveal

I feel so naked - I feel so totally exposed
It's such a mystery, how she seems to know, every part of me
I feel so shaken - and it's like everybody knows
Whenever she touches me, no one else can feel, as much as me
Ya she's got a way

She's got a way - of taming the wild in me
With patience and serenity
I'm drowning in her reverie

And I can't run away she's got a way to make me stay

She comes to me like rain falls down my window
Sure as night will follow day - i'll surrender
Ya she's got a way

Hmm .. what else. Oh! The wedding bands are 'fede rings' .. which is basically the Italian version of the Irish Claddaugh ring. Inscribed on the inside of Arli's was 'Amore Vele Fe' .. which basically translates to 'Love Cannot Exist Without Trust.' A very simple saying and a very simple sentiment.

So after all the lovely weddingish type stuff was done .. most likely around 8:30-9 PM, Tony would have got up to tell everyone thank you for coming to the reception and that they were welcome to head back to their rooms to change into more comfortable attire while the room was cleared out for the New Year's festivities.

The tables would then be cleared of all the fancy stuff and just left with plates and glasses. The bar would remain open and free flowing. The DJ would be there to play requested music throughout the night. Cocktail type foods would be served. Typical party stuff like a meat tray, fruit tray, veggie tray, chips, pretzels .. that sort of thing. Just so people had stuff to pick at. The party would continue up until 2 AM when 'Closing Time' by Semisonic would play .. pretty much telling everyone to get the hell out. Haha!

January 1st, 2009, from 8 AM til 11 AM ... The following morning, the banquet room was rented out for anyone who wanted to come down for breakfast. Buffet style. The usual fixings. If not, room service is covered. Feel free to take advantage of it!

And .. I think that's everything!!! Yay, Arliony is married!!! =D
