Depend on no one else to give you what you want. Birthday: June 15, 2003. (27) Bloodline: Unknown. Elizabeth's mother is a muggleborn witch, so Kelly's always assumed that she inherited magic from her mother, but she can't be sure because she's never known anything about her father. She's never really cared to know. Education: Gryffindor, class of 2021. Completed Auror training in 2024. Occupation: Auror with the DMLE. Residence: Cramped flat over Diagon. It isn't much, but it's home. Affiliation: Kelly's not at all interested in politics, so on the outside, she's rather indifferent toward all of the activist groups that keep popping up. She actually leans toward supporting the Coalition for the Greater Good, but she's certainly not about to seriously discuss that matter with anybody else or let on what she might actually believe. Sexuality: Heterosexual. family and friends Mother: Demelza Robins-Coates, muggleborn witch. Father: Unknown. Step-Father: Thomas Coates, muggle. Siblings: Victoria (23) and Tommy (20) Coates, both muggles. personality First Impression: Extroverted as hell. Likes: Being the center of attention, running, being completely independent, dueling, combat and fighting, Transfiguration, nights spent at the pub, hard liquor and drinking games, muggle music over wizarding, a man with a nice arse, flying and quidditch, getting dirty, clean bath linens and hot showers, learning new charms and interesting hexes. Dislikes: Lemmings, prudes, lazy days at home with nothing to do, politics and the politics of her job, paperwork, hospitals, sitting through boring, pointless meetings, domestic tasks, pepper-up potions, talking about her feelings, stereotypes, being alone. Hobbies: Running and working out, reading bits of the Daily Prophet so that she's not completely clueless. Kelly tends to consider hunting dark wizards a hobby as well. Quirks/Habits: Kelly hates being at home alone, so she doesn't spend much time there. She also tends to travel a lot, and as a result, her flat's relatively vacant. She keeps extra clothes there, but most of her personal items are in the bedroom and bath, and Kelly never invites guests over. Kelly also hates the domestic stereotypes associated with women, but most of that stems from the fact that she can't perform a cooking or cleaning charm to save her life. She also tends to have a bit more difficulty getting along with women than she does with men. Overall personality: On first impression, Kelly's personality can be a bit loud and overly obnoxious. She's outgoing, confident to a fault, and stubborn as hell. She's not shy about anything, she doesn't see any point in being coy, and that's a fact that she'd willingly prove to anybody, friend or stranger. Dare her to do something, even if it's stupid or dangerous, and she won't be able to resist the challenge. Kelly hates being proven wrong, but more than anything, she hates being told no. Somebody tells her that it's impossible for her to accomplish a goal, and that's the surest way to drive her to success. Kelly has a quick temper, and she's not afraid to let it fly off the handle, especially if it means getting her way. A lot of people would probably consider Kelly to be a very childish woman, but she just thinks that most of those people underestimate her because they don't see things her way or simply don't wish to agree with her. It's very easy for Kelly to mix her emotions with her job or other aspects of her life. If she's upset, she's likely to take her frustrations out on her co-workers or the wizard that she's hunting. She's not entirely as disciplined as her occupation might imply, but she knows how to do her job and she knows how to get the best results. Kelly doesn't mind getting dirty or examining ethically gray areas when she's dealing with criminals. Sometimes they're just asking for a fight, and she doesn't mind being the one to take them down, especially when she's confident enough to know that she'll easily win. Although she can be, and usually is, completely reckless when it comes to most things in her life, especially her job, Kelly will always take credit for her work, regardless of the outcome. She despises cowards, and in a professional capacity, she's usually willing to admit her own faults if nobody else attempts to point them out for her. She thinks sitting on her ass wasting time on strategy and plans for missions is usually a waste of time, especially when she believes that being unpredictable is one of the best weapons anybody can have. Even though Kelly puts up an incredibly rough and tumble exterior, there's a part of her, deep down, that's a bit more fragile and broken that she keeps hidden from the rest of the world. She avoids serious emotional connection with others as best as she can, and while she doesn't always succeed, she's become good at pushing people away. Kelly reasons that, if she can keep herself from putting too much trust or faith in other people, then she can guard herself from inevitable disappointment. She's a bit jaded from her job, she sees more bad and ugly than good and beautiful in the world, but she does hope that maybe she has the ability to make it a better place for somebody else. history Kelly Leigh Robins came into the world kicking and screaming on June 15th, 2003. Her mother, Demelza Robins, was alone and afraid, and now she had another mouth to feed. In later conversations, Demelza would admit to Kelly that her father could have been any number of men, none of which Kelly would ever need in her life as her father. Demelza did what she could to be a good mother, always working strings of dead end jobs so they could live from month to month. Somehow they always managed to get by, but life wasn't easy. When Demelza met Thomas Coats in 2005, two years after Kelly was born, life got much easier for the single mother. Thomas was everything that Demelza had ever wanted in a man. He came from an affluent muggle family, he was charming, and he seemed to have a natural way with children. Their romance was a fast one, and the couple married a little over a year after their first meeting. Demelza no longer had to worry over working to make ends meet, so she completely settled into the role of loving mother and wife. She all but abandoned magic as it wasn't a vital part of her life and it made Thomas a bit nervous. Not long after they were married, Demelza was pregnant with Thomas's first child, and she was completely dependent on her husband. Soon Victoria Coates was born, and then three years later Tommy arrived, and Kelly found herself a bit lost in the shuffle of the Coates family. Her mother had the family she'd always wanted, a normal life with a working husband, a son, and a daughter. Kelly reminded Demelza of her more reckless youth, and the days when her life had been miserable. Demelza tried her best to assimilate Kelly into the young family, although her efforts were fruitless. Even though Thomas Coates was the only father figure that Kelly had even known, he never accepted her as his own or allowed her to call him father. He maintained complete rule over his household, which included Kelly, but he hardly raised a finger to support Kelly or love her the way that he loved his children. Demelza was in no position to protest his treatment of her daughter, so she didn't. Besides, she maintained that she loved all of her children equally, and that would have to be enough for Kelly. From a young age, Kelly grew to resent her family. At times, she dreamed that her mother had sought out her father and made a family with him, a family that was uncomplicated and made of love, but those dreams were always fleeting. She grew to resent her mother because of the affect her choices had on Kelly's life. Kelly resented Thomas because he was always her mother's top priority, and Kelly resented Victoria and Tommy because they did have the family and loving father that she had always longed for. Hogwarts was Kelly's saving grace when the tension in the Coates household almost became too much to bear. Although Thomas Coates opposed sending Kelly to Hogwarts to learn magic like her mother, he saw the school as a way to get Demelza's daughter out of his hair, so he allowed it. Kelly hardly knew what she was getting into when she boarded the train for Hogwarts in the fall of 2014, her mother had never told her that magic actually existed, but she was excited to finally find freedom. Kelly was sorted into Gryffindor house upon her arrival at the school. Even though Hogwarts offered Kelly a freedom she had never experienced at home, school was very difficult for her. She acted out, causing fights and and behaving poorly because she didn't know how to handle all of her newfound freedom, or the fact that she was much more powerful than she had ever suspected. When Kelly returned home the following Christmas, Thomas suggested she be instead placed in a muggle school. At that near threat, something clicked with Kelly. Her step-father didn't want her to succeed, so that was all it took to motivate Kelly to become the best witch she could possibly be. Kelly wasn't a completely different child once she returned to school after that Christmas, but something had changed. She became very dedicated to her studies. Although it was difficult, Kelly channeled her frustrations and energy into proving her step-father wrong and proving her worth to her mother. Demelza might have given up living as a witch, but that didn't mean that Kelly wasn't going to be the best witch she could possibly be. She earned every mark that she made, and while she often found herself losing house points for her behavior, Kelly did her best in the classroom to make up for it. Before attending Hogwarts, Kelly had never been an athletically inclined child. At the first quidditch match of the year, Gryffindor vs. Slytherin, she knew that one day she'd be flying on a broom above the pitch. Flying didn't come naturally to Kelly, but she was determined to make the house team. She eventually joined the team in her fifth year as a chaser. Better late than never. As Kelly began to make a name from herself at school, she also distanced herself more and more from her home. She began staying at Hogwarts over holidays, and summers with the Coates family were miserable. She had never felt like she belonged with them in their muggle world, but now she no longer felt the need to belong with them. Like her mother had chosen a muggle man, Kelly had also chosen a different life for herself. As she approached her final year at Hogwarts, Kelly began to consider different career opportunities. Playing professional quidditch was a dream of a career, the fame, the money, and the travel appealed to Kelly, but she knew that the chances of making it in the professional leagues were incredibly slim, especially when she was hardly a star player. So she looked at her academic strengths. Kelly particularly enjoyed Transfiguration, but she had certainly found her niche in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Like quidditch, it became an outlet for her energy and aggression, but in a more academic capacity. With that in mind, Kelly began to pursue a job with the Ministry's Department of Magical Law Enforcement. If her first year at Hogwarts had been difficult for Kelly, it was nothing compared to her first week of Auror training. Being a highly motivated trainee, Kelly despised the failures and difficulties she encountered with training. Joining the Auror program also reawakened her competitive spirit, but it also meant that she often found herself at odds with her fellow recruits. Kelly continually reassured herself that she hadn't joined the Aurors to find new social circles, she had joined up because it was a job that she wanted to do and felt she could do well. It took three years, but Kelly completed her training, and despite having quite a few negative marks on her record, she became an Auror. After becoming an Auror, Kelly felt like everything in her life was finally falling into place. She finally possessed the complete independence she had always wanted, and she had a job which facilitated that lifestyle. Kelly loved traveling and being on the move with her job, and despite the paperwork that always followed a successful or unsuccessful mission, she loved her job. As much as she would protest the fact, the 21st of December changed Kelly's job. She had always been focused on protecting wizards from other wizards, or even keeping the muggle word safe from the wizarding world, but she had never anticipated such an attack against her kind from the muggles. Kelly doesn't often find herself mixed up in politics, but she knows that she won't accept anything the propaganda machine tells her until she's investigated the facts for herself. More importantly, she will not stand by and allow her world to be victimized. other. Name: Emily Contact: coffeebeandream@gmail.com, coffeebeandream @ AIM. Please feel free to ping me!
