She was the daughter of Zeus and Hera, which means she was the sister of Ares and Illithyia. She was the cup-bearer of the gods; her job was to pour the divine nectar and ambrosia at the gods' banquets (ambrosia was the magical drink that gave gods eternal youth). Later, she was replaced by Ganymede (some father, Zeus: he would fire his own daughter in order to give the job to his lover). She would also prepare Hera's chariot. When her brother Ares came back from war, she would prepare his bath. When the gods had a feast, she would sing and dance, together with the Muses and the Graces. She was one of Aphrodite's Bridal attendants and is said to be one of three Greek Goddesses associated with marriage. When Hercules died, his father, Zeus, took him to the Olympus and transformed him into a god. Hera finally made peace with the hero and, after his apotheosis, gave him her daughter, goddess Hebe, as a wife. As a result of this marriage, Hercules was restored to eternal youth. In one myth she granted a man named Iolaus his youth back for one day so he could fight his enemy Eurystheus. There is also controversy over whether Ganymede took over her position as the cup bearer or whether in fact he just represented her male counterpart. Hebe, the goddess of youth, was also a goddess of forgiveness. The slaves who were freed would hang their chains on her statue. Hebe is among the most gentle of Goddesses also. War: Hebe was always conflicted when it came to the plotting of her brother Ares. She loved to watch him as he inspired warriors - young and old. Being loyal to her husband, Hercules, though, she began to side with the warriors of justice and not of war, which is about the time she became a patron goddess of forgiveness Hebe tried to remain neutral in the fight, but while she loved her brother, she did not see his actions as working well for immortals and mortals alike. She would plead with her brother any chance she got, but she could never fully get through to him. Mortal: Born and raised as an only child in New York City, Lillian (also known as Lily), always seemed to enjoy sports, especially soccer and swimming. In high school, she took up cheerleading. In college, she realized how care-free she was and how she wasn’t treated very well. She was a very giving person in relationships, so she finally decided to take a stand and change herself a bit. Her interests have a large range, but one thing she always liked was being able to talk to children. She wrote a self-help book for teens called "You are Your Own Person" but is being praised by older people alike. But the party girl in her will never fade since she enjoys life and all it has to offer. Right now Lily is on tour with her book, but has taken a liking to Athens and its culture and is hoping to get another novel out of her stay there, only fiction instead of non-fiction -- something that could inspire and evoke the youthful person in all of us Disclaimer This journal is part of a game, and not affiliated with the Grecian gods and goddesses in any way.
