My Three Dramas

I spent the afternoon watching in rapt fascination as the whole Myung Wol the Spy thing unfolded. Or should I say imploded? Holy crap, it's like a drama! It's like a drama about a drama THAT'S ABOUT A DRAMA. This is getting so meta it's like universes folding in upon themselves.

Let me just say that until Han Ye Seul jetted off to America this afternoon, I was firmly in her corner, because I think the way they shoot dramas is CRAZY. Like, that story making the rounds while City Hunter was airing about Lee Min Ho performing a stunt and then not getting up off the ground because he fell asleep in the aftermath is funny until you actually start to think about how exhausted someone has to be in order for that to happen. No wonder dramas are plagued with so many car accidents. All the drivers are sleep-deprived!

The rumors are wrong. I am, in fact, not dead

Last week was a close call, though, when I got sick on Tuesday morning and still had to work all week (racking up 50 hours total for the week. Fun! Except not.)

I really needed more than just a weekend to recharge, but that's all I get, so I tried to make the best of it. And by "make the best of it" I mean "buy the last charms I need to complete my Pandora bracelet". So that's what I did today... )

Other things that have happened:

  • I finally got myself that new cell phone I was talking about a few months back! And yes, I ended up getting an HTC Legend after all. I LOVE IT. Don't know how I ever lived without it. I've read two books on it so far, I've got two True Blood episodes awaiting viewing, I've become addicted to Mancala, Reversi and Unblock Me (any other game app recs would be most welcome!) and it's the only way I've been able to stay sorta up-to-date on my Twitter feed for the past two weeks.

  • I've been fairly good about keeping up with TV. Well, considering... Reaction spoilers mostly. )

  • I uploaded a bunch of icons today.

Being Erica (spoilery) )

Aug. 24th, 2010

A couple of years ago, on the first day of winter, we had people in Stockholm who were stuck in traffic for seven hours (black ice was the culprit if I remember correctly). I thought that was bad, but this NINE DAY traffic jam has to take the cake. Holy crap!

The only shows I'm keeping up to date with are reality shows. I may get spoiled for True Blood, Eureka, Mad Men, et al whenever I venture outside my flist (and sometimes even when I stick close to home - mostly through no one's fault but my own), but knowing one thing about an episode won't completely render it pointless the way knowing who gets booted off does for a reality show.

man plans, the flying spaghetti monster laughs

I worked all weekend, and yesterday I'd about reached my limit so I told my boss that I was going to "sort of" take today off (only doing the bare minimum, like delivering files and answering emails). HAHAHAHA! Forgive me while I wipe away my tears of indiscribable horror at not having had a day off for 11 days straight laughter.

Just out of curiosity I counted up the number of emails I'd written today around four thirty. OVER 80! And that was just the emails. WHY IS THIS MY LIFE?!

Needless to say, I worked more than eight hours today anyway and I'm so ready for the weekend to come, you have no idea.

I haven't really been finishing many Dramas lately (except for my rewatch of Coffee Prince. It was even better this time around, and the pacing issues are solved by just FF-ing through all the boring stuff), but I've started plenty. I've started keeping track of them in this sticky!post. I figure you guys were probably getting sick of my All Drama All the Time posts. =)

The newest Firefox release (?) is screwing with my LJ log-in, but only when it comes to Scrapbook, so posts to [info]acapaday have been spotty lately (my album for that is private and since I can't log in I just see the public albums).

It wasn't until last night that I realized that I could access Scrapbook with Chrome. Which is a pain, but better than nothing, I guess, until either Firefox or LJ rights itself.

Now I just have to figure out if I have the energy to do some capping for a cap game tomorrow...

Capital Scandal

Okay, so you guys who recced Capital Scandal? SO RIGHT. Amazing Kdrama! I was in love after just the first episode, and after a few more, I started capping, because not only was it good, it was pretty! And now, naturally, I have to picspam!

3 Amazing Things About Capital Scandal! (Minimal spoilers) )

Long post is long

I've hardly read a thing since early June. Haven't finished a single book, actually, which is kind of depressing. My current subway read is Rosemary and Rue by [info]seanan_mcguire, which is perfect right now because I find it so engrossing that I can just pick it up anywhere and remember exactly what's happened and what's going on. I really enjoy the world-building, the characters are intriguing and I'm even feeling kinda 'shippy about it. (Maybe it's just because I know she watched VM, but the first scene with Toby and Tybalt reminded me so much of this one from the pilot.)

I'm not even half-way, so no spoilers please!

But even though I'm enjoying the book and the subway is the only place I'm reading right now, I'm still thinking of getting a smart phone so that I can watch My Stories (not only on the subway, but probably there too. What can I say, I'M OBSESSED!). Anyway, I wanted to ask for recs, does anyone have any? The ones I'm looking at most are:

  • HTC Legend. The leading contender right now. Pluses: uses Android, fairly big screen for its size (and I can't really buy a bigger phone because my hands are tiny), REALLY PRETTY ALUMINUM CASING. Minuses: Wrong aspect ratio (would prefer 16:9), still kind of too big (but comfortable to hold, which mitigates it).

  • iPhone. Do I even need a link? The one that started it all, but I've never been a fan of iProducts. The only reason I'm even considering it is because I figure they've had a few generations to work out the kinks. Pluses: Lots and lots of apps probably? Minuses: My feelings about iProducts in general. Not to mention I'd probably have to install some sort of software and that ways lies madness, usually. Still the wrong aspect ratio.

Speaking of my current obsession, here's what I've watched lately:

Why are there only 24 hours in a day?

You know, you'd think a job where you watch South Park all day is pretty sweet, but it so isn't. OMG, most boring work EVER. I'm so sick of South Park that I could puke. And I haven't even gotten to the seasons where the show started to suck so much that I quit watching. Ugh.

Work is insane this week, but instead of letting my long work hours interfere with my Drama watching, I'm letting it interfere with my sleep. I'm only sleeping five hours a night right now so that I have time to put in about six hours of Drama watching after my 12 hour work days.

Since my last post I've:

  • Finished My Lovely Kim Sam Soon (Cuteness! Best pacing of the Kdramas I've seen so far!).

  • Finished My Girl (Learned a lot of interesting things about Korean family relationships. Enjoyed the female lead a ton.)

  • Finished Hana Yori Dango season 1 (It's so much more stylized than the Korean dramas I've watched. Is it bad that I actually miss the hour-long episodes? I mean, 46 minutes, what the hell is that?! That's just WEAK. ;-)

  • Watched three episodes of Hana Yori Dango season 2.

Waiting for me (on my new hard drive I had to buy because the old one was full):

  1. Boys Over Flowers.

  2. Capital Scandal.

  3. Full House.

Still have to get:

  • Hana Yori Dango movie (Wait, this isn't episode 2x11, right? It's all very confusing.).

  • EVERYTHING ELSE EVER!

I'm having so much fun with this, you guys don't even know. I've missed being completely obsessed with something like this. Usually it's a 'ship, but I'll take a genre.

The Obscure Subjects Post

The Royal Wedding is Upon Us. Lord help us all. A couple of friends of mine are coming over so we can mock watch the proceedings on TV. And if the weather's nice, we might swing by the city, see if there's anything fun going on in the aftermath.

I can't stop watching Kdramas. )

I will gladly take recs!

Meme! Day 05. Just the one because I can't be bothered to find images and this one really doesn't need one. )

Summer is for catching up on TV - old and new

For some reason, May seems to be a big reading month for me. I read 25 books in May, but when June rolled around, my reading mojo started failing me, so instead I turned to Kdramas. I just finished Coffee Prince, so Personal Taste, here I come!

But that's not really going to occupy me for long, especially not at the rate I'm going. Therefore, A POLL!

That's right, RADIO BUTTONS. Ticky boxes are for sissies.

Now that everyone else is finishing up their 30 days meme, I figured I'd start on mine. Though since I don't post often enough to finish this until 2012, I'm gonna do a few at a time and pretty much when I feel like it instead of in every entry. MEME! )
