Sif
Wife of Thor | Goddess of Fertility
IN CHARACTER
NAME |
Sif
PANTHEON |
Norse
APPARENT AGE |
Late 20s
APPEARANCE |
Outside of those features she is known for (fair, long blonde hair, ect) Sif has definitely embraced this knew era. She enjoys modern conveniences and when it comes to clothing, she definitely can appreciate the new styles and fabric. Though, when choosing her clothing she prefers softer colours and more flowing material. She hates to feel confined and that goes for her clothing as well. Her appearance directly reflects her personality for better or worse; open, airy, and light.
BIOGRAPHY
Sif has always been known through her connections to other (more powerful) Gods and even in the oral history of those who worship them she is noted simply as the wife of Thor of the unfortunate target of a few of Loki's many pranks and barbs. Others, perhaps, would be bothered by a lack of individuality, but Sif has never had a problem with being referred to as Thors' wife. Unlike her previous union, her relationship with Thor is good and rarely turbulent. Her own personality doesn't invite much conflict ... most of the time. She doesn't fight to have an identity outside of her role as his wife. It isn't a lie and it isn't something that she feels shame for. So long as she has the freedom to continue to pursue her own interests and remain connected to the Earth, she's content to leave such as it is.
She doesn't have grand stories of battle to tell or even stories of protecting groups of innocence. She cares for the Earth and loves to watch the vegetation and floras flourish. Perhaps that (and the connection to Thor) is what made her an easy target for Loki's tricks. Ignoring Loki's previous slander about having had an affair with him, it left plenty of opportunity for him to continue to pursue his devious nature. Having always been known for her blonde hair, Loki took it upon himself to cut it while she slept the fields she'd been tending. That, naturally, enraged Thor. Withholding violent retribution, he forced Loki to have a golden headpiece made for her. It is, perhaps, a story that emphasizes her appearance, but having Loki seek out Sons of Ivaldi in order to create her headpiece also led to the creation of Odin's Spear, the ship Skioblaonir and the Boar for Freyr, the multiplying ring for Odin, and the mighty hammer for Thor. If if she was made to suffer briefly, plenty of positives were born from it, particularly after Thor's anger on her behalf indicating the nature of their relationship.
That was not the first nor the last time that tension has been stirred among the Gods, but Sif has maintained a tendency to sit back from the fray. More often then not, there's already enough ego involved. This tendency has remained since arriving in New York. When it comes to this new Era, Sif finds herself torn. Surrounded by concrete and steel, she has a hard time connecting to the Earth. Her only sanctuary is Central Park and even then the space is cluttered with people. She enjoys escaping the city whenever she can. On the other hand, she does enjoy modern conveniences and modern clothing. Some days it is a struggle to decide which path she wants to walk.
