| Bio: | Name: Jonathan Crane Codename: the Scarecrow Born out of wedlock, Jonathan was all but abandoned by his parents the very moment he was born and left in the care of his overly religious great grandmother Marion with the advice from his grandmoather to simply bury him in the atrium in back. His birth was a further blow to the Keeny name, the title itself being squandered out between Marion and her daughter, leaving the eldest woman in a life of shame and poverty. Fortunately great grandmother Keeny chose to ignore the advice from her daughter, raising the child as the son she'd never had, feeding clothing , and punishing the young boy when she deemed it necessary. Jonathan was forced to work the old corn fields when not in school, not as a necessity for their slightly impoverished lifestyle but what he often speculated it as a sadistic past time for the old woman. Inbetween the bullying at school ( known as 'the living handrail' by his school mates) and the slow and systematic psychological and physical torture from his grandmother, Jonathan had managed to find solace in literature. Unfortunately for the boy, his books were deemed to be nothing but filth to his great grandmother and was punished accordingly. It wasn'tall corporal punishment and bed without dinner however, Great Grandmother Keeny was a cruel, yet clever woman. "I believe it may be time we paid the chapel a visit, my literary young friend. Kindly dress for the occasion. You know which suit." Punishment for Jonathan wasn't as any normal child. Forced to dress in his sunday best, his grandmother would lock him in what she had deemed the chapel. A dilapidated aviary that had once served as a church of sorts for his ancestors, it was once considered to be a sanctuary, a place of peace and beauty..Now however, it was a darkened and empty shell of what it once had been; a place of Jonathan's nightmares. Once locked in the chapel, a murder of wild crows would swoop down from the large opening in the ceiling, mercilessly attacking the young boy. The question that had always remained with the young boy, was how exactly would a horde of wild crows be trained by an old and feeble woman? He'd recieved his answer one rainy night, awoken that night by a thunderstorm, he'd snuck down to the kitchen; discovery the length of the old woman's insanity. He watched as she simmed a pot on the stove, adding a few strange spices, and pulling a dead rodent from the pot; beside her on the table was his newly cleaned and patched sunday suit. She pulled the rat from the pot by it's tail, wringing it's juices on his sunday best before silently grabbing her umbrella and heading out to the storm. While the process was new and even shocking to the young boy, great grandmother keeny had seemed to follow this process almost mechanically, settling the dead rodent upin a worn and tattered scarecrow in the center of the field. The crows arrived in hordes, the pheromones from his grandmother's concoction driving out their hunger, attacking the scarecrow just as mercilessly as they had the young boy. It was in fact what had shaped his life from there on, from these occurances that had brought on his obesession with fear and control, his affinity for crows, and a hatred for the Keeny family. The mother that had no love for him, the father that had abandoned him, the poverty that consumed him. He used this to break free of the old woman's reign, inflicting upon her, the same treatment he'd so often recieved, but for the old woman this punishment hadproven to be fatal. He grew up to pursue a career in psychology, settling at a University in Gotham as a psychology professor specializing in fear. His intelligence and slight obsession with the subject made him a formidable teacher, but it was also his downfall in the end. His days as a proffessor were cut short after an experiment in class, brandishing a gun and firing into the class, the experiment was considered a success by Jonathan, but to the board at Gotham University it was a complete and utter failure; leaving a student injured and a faculty in fear at the man's actions. After his dismissal from the university, he took it upon himself to get revenge on those who'd abandoned and taunted him, taking up the codename the Scarecrow to hide his identity. He took up a job at Arkham Asylum and used the imates there to continue his research, eventually developing an aerosol version of the agent he'd once had to inject into his victims, a neurological cocktail that acted on the very part of the brain that harbored a person's darkest self and deep fears. <>Strengths:</b> Mastery of Fear Based Psychology - Though he often uses chemicals to bring forth his victim's phobias, Crane has recently shown an ability to do without any chemical, using his prowess and knowledge alone to scare his victims to death. Weaknesses: Aside from hs psychological attacks and toxins, Crane has no way to defend himself in unarmed combat, due to his lanky frame he appears to be slightly frail and without his mask he's physically unintimidating.. (Not real. I'm neither Cillian Murphy, nor Jonathan Crane. This is for a game.) | |||||||||
