"Awful lot of paisley in here," is the first thing Joe says when he wanders into costume Thursday morning to do some fittings in the last minutes before they go for dress rehearsal and then filming. He's wandering down the rows between his costumes and Tom's (trying his hardest to not compare the sizes because Tom is all broad chest and shoulders and Joe has lots of nice smart shirts and ties. But there is a lot of garish colours and yes, paisley. Not just for Eames (they'd spoken about that on Monday morning, Eames' taste in clothes, the general ex-pat, wandering the world, wearing salmon shirts kind of deal). Why it had come up he can't remember, but apparently they've gone all out.

"Oh, yes," the lady he's with smiles. "Yes, Mr. Nolan said we should get some for everyone, for Arthur's dream."

Joe pauses and looks at her with a skeptical raised eyebrow as though eh doesn't quite believe her. "Say what?"

She looks at him with a knowing smile. "Oh, yes, he said that when they're in Arthur's dream everyone should have something a little garish. Like Eames wears all of the time. So we did."

Joe's brow furrows. Really? Chris decided that Arthur is going to dream his friends into ridiculous patterned clothes? What does that say about he and Eames? Or at least about Arthur. He purses his lips.

"I need you to try on some shirts, just to check the fitting. We have the character costume ideas, don't worry-" as though his expression has anything to do with the clothes fitting the characterisation.

"Did you hear about this?" he asks Tom and Leo, both of whom have wandered in as well as he is directed to strip out of his tshirt and redress in an expensive feeling shirt. "Look. Arthur's dressing you all up like clowns-" which is a little bit of an exaggeration. He drops his tshirt on the floor and takes his new shirt, fiddling with the buttons that haven't loosened up yet.
