Clark Kent is the embodiment of his nickname “Boy Scout” - he is good, brave, selfless and genuinely nice to people, unless of course he’s been infected by Red Kryptonite.
Like Jor-El, Clark has an independent spirit, often choosing to go it alone and follow a different path to the one others suggest. He also inherited his mother's never-ending bravery and compassionate heart. Clark is idealistic and tries to see the good in everybody, to the point that he is willing to trust almost anyone. As shown time and time again when he tries to help and rehabilitate any meta humans/villains he comes across first, rather than fight them.
Clark strongly believes that feelings like compassion are synonymous to the human race, and thinks humans are, on the whole, noble beings. He has often expressed a desire to be human and a disdain towards his alien heritage because he feels his humanity is hindered by his genetics. (Despite more than one person trying to convince him otherwise.) His differences play on his mind and as such he is often prone to bouts of loneliness - which he finds confusing, as he is never actually alone, due to his friends and caring family.
Clearly, Clark has a hero complex, often trying to save lives at any and all costs. He has willingly risked his own life to save his loved ones and has offered shelter to individuals seeking refuge multiple times. But despite this he refuses to justify killing for the 'greater good', even though it could mean more casualties. There is an underlying confidence to his Heroism, borne from the fact that not much on Earth can actually harm him, sometimes this can lead to recklessness on his part, especially when kryptonite or other metas unexpectedly enter the equation - as they often do.
Clark has a few ironic traits to his personality: he is afraid of heights despite the fact that he can survive almost any fall, and is also habitually late despite being able to run and fly at teleportation-like speeds. Finally, and perhaps most ironically, Clark highly values trust in a relationship, despite his constant lies to protect his secret. When it comes to secrets and lies, Clark is an enormous hypocrite. He lies and keep secrets constantly from other people, but is outraged when secrets are kept from him.

Ridiculously Long Wiki History♦ Kal doesn't remember much from his time before the Kents found him. His journey to Earth was a blur of nothingness, interspersed with vague memories of the lessons his father recorded in the ship's memory. As far as he's concerned, his history began when he crash landed outside Smallville, Kansas. Being brought up by the Kents was one of the best things that happened to him, on the farm he learned the value of hard work, the strength of family and stong sense of right and wrong. Of course it wasn’t always easy for them, especially when he first began to develop his powers. Learning to tone down his speed and strength when at school -especially whilst playing sports- was one of the hardest things for young Clark. Knowing he was so much more robust than everyone around him weighed heavily on his mind and the fact that despite all his powers he hadn’t been able to save his father, Jonathan, was what sparked him to become Superman.
♦ The Fortress of Solitude is one of the only places on Earth where Kal feels totally at ease. It was there that he truly learned the extent of his powers and the history of his birth parents and planet. While there he could forget for a while that he was the only one of his kind left, alone in an alien world where he would inevitably outlive all the people he protected and cared for. He used to spend a lot of time at the Fortress, until he met Kara (Power Girl) and Kara (Supergirl). Though Power Girl initially thought she was Atlantean and is the last survivor of Earth 2. Kal was kind to her from the outset, becoming a friend to her. Supergirl, his cousin, should have been older than him, so it was double the surprise to have her appear on Earth. But with her on the same planet, he doesn’t feel quite so alone in the universe.
♦ As a founding member of the Justice League, Kal has been part of most of the team’s missions. No matter what the threat and dispite some disagreements amongst them, they have remained a close knit group who get the job done. Of all his teammates Kal gets along the best (and at times worst) with Bruce (Batman). Though their outlooks, demeanors, and personalities are radically different, they managed to work well together and have built a respectful friendship over the years.
♦ Lois and Jonathan are Kal’s world, and if anything were to happen to them he would be devastated. No matter what ups and downs they have been through Lois has always stuck by him, her fierce loyalty, desire for truth and no-nonsense attitude is what drew him to her and he’s extremely grateful that she is on his side. Especially when it comes to dealing with a superpowered son while Jonathan, and Kal, are both working to get a handle on the extent of ‘Superboy’s’ powers.
