Name: Merlin (Emrys, to some in the magical world) Fandom: BBC's Merlin Age: Early 20s Occupation: Manservant to Prince Arthur Pendragon and apprentice to Gaius, the court physician of Camelot
Sexuality: Merlin will turn his head to look at a pretty girl just as readily as the next boy. However, his deepest loyalty, attention, and friendship is reserved for Prince Arthur. Continuously saving the prince and the kingdom (in secret, no less) hasn't given him much time to think about what this means.
Abilities: Merlin was born with magic. This is apparently not the normal way of things, and as his mentor Gaius put it, "You are a question that has never been posed before, Merlin." Sorcerers usually have to spend years studying and practising the craft of magic. Not Merlin. Magic came as naturally to him as speaking when he was a child, and while he uses spells and enchantments to give his powers a specific direction, magic is mostly instinctual to him. His feelings and gut reactions guide what his powers do. Right now, he is only just beginning to learn how to control his abilities, but in time, he may just become the greatest wizard ever.
Personality: Merlin is cheerful, kind, lovable, and even a little naïve. Due to his awkward and clumsy nature, others sometimes tend to see Merlin as bit slow on the uptake- or, as Arthur prefers to tell him frequently- an idiot, moron, and ridiculous. On a more positive note, those who befriend Merlin know he is caring, loyal, and willing to “do anything for anyone,” as his friend Gwen once said of him.
While Merlin doesn’t see the world as entirely black and white, he does know good from evil and right from wrong, and he’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that good always wins. Friends and family mean everything to him, and above all, he must and will protect Arthur at all costs. It’s more than a destiny now; Arthur is more important to him than anyone in the world, and he knows he cannot lose him.
