| Bio: |  Character Information Name: Tia Dalma Gender: Female Age: Unknown Affiliation: None (Pirates) Physical Description: Tia Dalma is a small woman with mocha skin. She has black hair fashioned into dreadlocks and brown eyes that are encircled by kohl etchings. Her bone structure is delicate. Her eerie, knowing smile reveals blackened teeth. On her cheekbones are a series of black markings. Tia Dalma wears a pink dress over a layered floral skirt and red corset. The dress is of the fashion of the times, though very worn. A belt of fur, leather, and cowry shells adorns her waist and a multitude of beads and good luck charms drape from her neck. Her most important artifact is a heart-shaped crab locket. Distinguishing Marks: Tia Dalma has a line of black dots on her cheekbones under her eyes, as well as a few dots on her chin. Personality: Tia Dalma comes off as very aloof and mystical. She is rather self motivated and many of the things she does for others usually benefits her in some way. She is very knowledgeable of events going on around her and easily sees the importance of it all. She mostly keeps to herself, being more an observer than one who takes immediate action. She is very impatient. Tia Dalma has quite the temper, though in her human form does not show fury in a strong manner. She tends to simmer and boil letting her rage build from within. She is very harsh. Her true nature, being that of the deep, is untamable, and though the Brethren Court may have “tamed the waves”, Tia Dalma is still a free spirit who does as she wishes. Should she be released, no doubt a tempest would engulf all those around her. Personal History: Tia Dalma was once Calypso, the Goddess of the Sea. She fell in love with Davy Jones and persuaded him to ferry souls drowned at sea to the afterlife. She gave him the Flying Dutchman so that he could pass between worlds. As a reward for his service, he would be allowed to return to land for one day every ten years to be with Calypso. But when the ten years were up, due to her impatient nature, she was not there waiting for Jones when he returned. Jones carved out his heart and locked it in the Dead Man’s Chest, and allowed the lost souls to wander the Locker unaided. For neglecting his duties, Calypso transformed Jones into the tentacled sea creature to reflect the man inside. Enraged, Jones went to the Brethren Court, giving them the means to bind Calypso in human form. With the first Brethren Court’s nine pieces of eight, Calypso was bound to the human form of Tia Dalma, and the sea was “tamed”. Now Tia Dalma, Calypso became a mystic and priestess of Vodun. She lives in a shack on the Pantano River on Pelegosto Island. Her Shack is perched in a treetop in the Cypress Forest at the mouth of the Pantano River. She befriended Jack Sparrow when he was young and gave him his compass, which points to the user’s heart’s desire. Sparrow then stole a ring belonging to Dalma, a golden ring set with a large purple stone. Tia Dalma was enraged by this, but knew that Sparrow would later return, and that his destiny was of profit to her. During the next few years Tia Dalma became one of the most sought after mystics in the Caribbean. Recently, she has brought Hector Barbossa back from the grave. His knowledge and piece of eight are of use to her. She awaits the return of Sparrow, and the events that will follow. Birth Location: Unknown Blood Family: None Personal Strengths: Tia Dalma is a practitioner of Vodou and is a known mystic and witch doctor. Personal Weaknesses: Trapped in a human body she cannot attain any powers she had as Calypso. She is attracted to Will Turner’s boyish good looks. Personal Skills and Training: As a mystic/ witch doctor she can foretell events, fortunes, etc. and can remedy most ailments. Mission: To be freed from her human entrapments and regain status as the nymph Calypso. Also to seek revenge on those whose betrayed and bound her to the human form. Saw Desi’s advertisement and couldn’t resist. Sample Third Person Post of the Character: The dim light in the shack flickered on the gray crab claws strewn out on a rough, cypress wood table. Her eyebrows knitted as she read the claws, their meaning haphazard, even to her experienced eye. Her small hand shot out, collecting the claws in a sweeping fashion. She rubbed the claws between her fingers then blew gently on them before she cast them upon the table once more. Leaning over them, her eyes swept over the signs. A wry smile crossed her= face and she looked up at the door as if the expected would instantaneously knock. She gathered the bones, this time sliding them into a velvet pouch. "It been a long time, Jack Sparrow." she crooned in a heavy Caribbean accent, "You be needing Tia Dalma's help very soon..." | |||||||||
