A confrontation with the Marauders Harpoon and Blockbuster, ended in the amputation of his wings - the loss of which eventually pushed him to suicide, in which he was unsuccessful. Given the gift of flight once more by Apocalypse, Warren became 'Death', one of the four horsemen. An encounter with the X-men in which he believed he had killed Iceman jarred him back to his senses.
