Allistair Hall Update for the New Year!

Well folks it seems like this is the busiest time of year for our Alli. He's spent the last two weeks back home, gracing us with his presence here in the UK, first at his mum's house (everyone say it with me now: Awwwww) for Christmas, and then with Actor Logan James, and his mysterious blond girlfriend, who may or may not be one of the infamous rabble rousing Shepherd family. What's our sweet little moppet doing with someone so dodgy? He's been single for quite some time, and while we're all a little (lot) jealous it's her and not us, all we can say is regardless of who she is, we wish them the bestest of the best in 2009.

He's back to Hollywood now though, both to work on his upcoming film, The Royal Tenenbaums, which is reported to wrap at the end of the month, and in which we hear he may have to cut off his glorious locks. Said Alli, in one interview- "This director is fantastic, and I'm really excited about all of this. Except maybe the bit about my hair. I haven't gotten more than a trim in years." Of the production stills we've managed to get so far (Here!), he's still sporting a beard and long(ish) hair, but who knows? It would not be the toughest thing the guy's had to do for a part.

Alli is rumored to be attached to a whole bunch of projects in the new year as well, the most notable being the Mad Hatter in a dark adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. Fans of the joker will undoubtedly be excited to see him return to something macabre, and so are we. But come on, Alli. Would it kill you to do something upbeat?

Finally, this Sunday is his 29th birthday, which he will be celebrating by attending (and hopefully winning) the Golden Globe awards. He's always said his mom would be going with him to his first real awards show, which we think is adorable. In his blog, he said he doesn't expect to win, and was surprised even by the nomination. Stop being so modest, Al! We wish him a happy birthday and the best of luck!

Love,
The Alli Girls

You are so in for it, whenever I can steal you away for your birthday. Just so you know.

Does this mean I can do something crazy with my hair, too?

We can do something before or after the awards. I'd say during but my mum might hang me if I were to skip out.

Also, ah, if you're free saturday, I'm pretty sure there's no way to get out of having dinner with her and my dad. they know youre in town, and I'm in town, and they're in town. It's unavoidable. I apologize in advance.

Anything you want. Just.... I mean, I'd adore you anyway, but could I persuade you against shaving it all off? Besides that I don't care.

Having your mum hang you would be bad. Will you still be awake and willing to put up with me afterward? It'll be a quiet night in, I promise.

Oh, christ. Don't apologise, just help me find something to wear.

You are so cute. Don't worry, button, I wouldn't shave it all off. Long hair is much more suited to the hippie way, after all. Even those of us in the NRA. I was thinking more a different colour.

I'm always willing to put up with you. I may have to go to a party afterwards, ,especially if my some act of god I was to actually win the bloody thing. But you are the absolute perfect excuse to get out of there post haste.

Anything you want to wear is fine. We're probably going to that great restaurant you found for us that serves great british food. My dad is really picky.

In that case, absolutely anything. Brown, red, purple.... it's all the same to me.

If you keep this up, I'm going to really get attached, and you'll never be rid of me. I've got a good feeling about this winning business, but I'll happily provide an excuse so you can escape all the congratulatory stuff there. Just don't be surprised if you get some when you get back.

Remember how I usually dress. I have a feeling that's not going to work for this! Hearing that he's picky is not helping my nerves. Just so you know.

Possibly all of the above. I'm still deciding. We'll see, I'm not in a hurry.

that's alright by me. Attach away. I'm pretty sure I'm the only man alive who is not scared off by the prospect of commitment. It's not that I mind the congrats, it's all the people... and the obligatory conversations... it stresses me out.

He's picky about food. He'll love you. They both will. How could anyone not?

Which just convinces me you're daft. Luckily that doesn't bother me. Ah, that makes sense. The crowds, the droning talk, the hand shaking, arm pumping, and shoulder pounding -- I don't blame you.

Again, I'm not sure you're prepared for the consequences of all this sweet-talking you do.

I do bruise easily. all that shoulder pounding...
I definitely will not be late.

I'm completely wonderfully happily unprepared. You're right.

I'll make sure to coddle any bruises and kiss them to make them better, then.
I'm looking forward to it.

Remember that whole bit where I went airborne at you at the airport and kissed you so exuberantly that people applauded? That barely touches it.

We're a dodgy, dodgy group to be involved with, Hall. But I, for one, am glad you're involving yourself.

I don't think you're dodgy at all. Quite refreshing from the usual lot of stuffy old english families, I think.

And thanks. That means a lot. Especially since I'm willing to bet if you weren't glad, you could probably beat the bloody hell out of me.

You'd better meet my folks first instead of Addie's, then. Her mum is the definition of stodgy old English families.

I was trying not to meddle, back around Halloween. It's been an effort. I'm definitely glad. And I don't know, I think it'd be pretty even, despite the working out I did for this part. I'm still fair noodly. Besides, Addie would then beat me up.

Haha truly? I always feel so uncomfortable around that lot.

Halloween? Was I that obvious? You knew that long?
I wouldn't let her beat you up, mate. Between the two of us I'm sure we could come up with a fast enough get away.

Her mum married into what she thought was an old money family (which, technically, it is, just with a few bad eggs the past couple of generations), and still acts very posh. Snooty is, I believe, a good word for her.

I didn't know, but I hoped. But I knew if I said anything or tried to nudge the two of you together she'd have murdered me.
I love how you're aware the only option would be escape, rather than ganging up on her. I'm willing to provide a distraction or cover.

Yikes. I sure hope she's not too disappointed when we do finally meet. I don't know which fork to use first or anything of that sort.

Never try to take on a woman from the NRA, I always say. We can use me as a human shield.

Oddly enough, etiquette or no, I think she'd approve. Then again, considering some of Addie's past behaviour, this is one of the best decisions she's made in years.

Smart, smart. She wouldn't aim at you, with gun or fists.

Ouch. I'm not sure I'd go that far, but I'd hope she'd at least tolerate me.

And I wouldn't put money on that. But it's okay. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

I'm kind of sad that I won't be able to make Sunday to see you embarrass yourself on stage (because if anything is award-worthy it's you in drag) but I'll send you something...a wig maybe, to hide the hypothetical hair-cut?
