Psychological
Myth
Personality: Violence, bloodshed, power, lust, anger, hatred, worship, these were all things that Ares reveled in. It wasn't all about the war and the fight- but don't get it wrong that was a big part of it- it was about the power. You didn't have to fight if you could scare your opponent into submission. Power over mortal, gods, lovers; all of it was sacred to Ares. Ares followed his soul, not his heart, not his gut, he followed something deeper than that. Ares lead by the basic instincts inside everyone, to lay your enemies before you any way you could and stand atop them glorious. Of course, the world isn't always how Ares saw it, and there were other gods in the way, but he did what he could, when he could. He lead warriors and protected his children (and reaped down with an avenging force when one of his children was wronged). He never had much of a conscience and tended to bound and gag the one he did have. Impulsive, reckless, dangerous, all these things were Ares and more.
Extrovert/Introvert: Extrovert
Sensing/Intuition: Sensing
Thinking/Feeling: Feeling
Judging/Perceiving: Judging
Hobbies and Interests: Rape, pillage, murder! Fight, war, power... you get the idea.
Strengths: Decisive, determined, fearless.
Weaknesses: Impulsive, bloodthirsty, raring for a fight regardless of the consequences.

Mortal
Personality: At first glance Kane is a charming person, it's more of an act than actual charm. Though he's been 'acting' it so much that it has become apart of him. Deep down Kane is an angry, vindictive man who would as soon run a knife through you then have to listen to you. He's been through counseling and treatment, but the only improvement he's made is his ability to fake results. Despite the anger and violent impulses, Kane is a very passionate man and is capable of being loyal to those who he thinks deserve it. He is quick to turn if betrayed however, no matter how close he is with someone.
Extrovert/Introvert: Introvert
Sensing/Intuition: Intuition
Thinking/Feeling: Thinking
Judging/Perceiving: Perceiving
Hobbies and Interests: Kane likes guns, women, medical shows (like the operating room ones, not medical dramas), fighting, and his job.
Strengths: Kane is skilled in hand to hand combat as well as gunplay. He has training in strategy, but is better at planning on the go. He has comprehensive military training and all the strengths that come with.
Weaknesses: Kane has issues with authority, especially male authority (all steaming from 'daddy issues'). He's been in more than one situation when his 'fly by the seat of your pants' planning has gotten him hospitalized. He also has a really hard time committing when it comes to relationships an is very quick to anger (perhaps their linked?).

Relations
Myth
Friends: Aphrodite, Eris, all his children for whom he is forever protective of.
Enemies: Hephaestus & Heracles are the worst, however he had been opposed to Apollo, Athena, & Artemis at one time or another. He also has a great dislike for his father Zeus who has not hidden the fact that he's his least favorite son. And all of this was -before- the war. Oh, and Helios isn't his favorite person either.
Romantic Status: Eternal Bachelor; but his heart will forever belong to Aphrodite.
Significant Other: The closest he has would be his long time affair with Aphrodite.
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Present Interests:
Past Relationships: All those he bore children with, highest among them being Aphrodite & Eris. Also Eos who bore him no children.

Mortal
Friends: No friends, a few allies, but no friends.
Enemies: He couldn't name them all if he tried.
Romantic Status: Always single
Significant Other: None and never will be
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual (but has 'played' for the other team when needed)
Present Interests:
Past Relationships: A series of insignificant flings
Likes: Guns, women, getting paid.
Dislikes: Being judged, when things don't work out, loosing.

Biographical
Myth:
Ares was born with his sister Eris from the coupling of Zeus and Hera the eldest of Zeus' children and rightful heir to his kingdom. From birth Ares was disliked by his father, and he never hid the fact; during the Trojan war- when he went to Olympus to mend up- Zeus felt the need to let him know that 'To me you are most hateful of all gods who hold Olympos' before allowing him treatment from Paieon. So it's no wonder that he took up the mantel he did.

When most think of Ares, they think he is the god of all war, this is wrong. Ares is the god of violent war, blood lustful, animalistic, all out meatfest type wars. Zeus and Athena (also war gods) were of the more strategic variety. While other war gods promoted planning and decisive ranged type battle, Ares promoted driving the force in and fighting close up. His Spartans were the mightiest of his warriors and he drove into battle with his sister Eris and children Deimos and Phobos. Ares sometimes would be accompanied by Makhai (battles), the hysminai (manslaughter), Polemos (spirit of war) and Polemos' daughter Alala (personification of the War-cry).

Ares is also -more- than just the 'god of war', a lot more, and while most of his other duties revolve around war, they -all- revolve around something more powerful than that. Power. For Ares it is all about power. Power over armies, town, people, even lovers.

One of Ares' most famous lovers (though he had quite a few) and the one that was his second longest love (save for Eris) was Aphrodite. With him he had many children, some of whom followed him and fought beside him, and others took after their mother. However no matter which child you refer to, all of them were loved equally by Ares, each for their own reasons.

His love with Aphrodite was an intense one, when Zeus first proclaimed that she would be married, he was one of (if not -the-) first to put in his favor. The timing was bad however, as Hephaestus had bound Hera to a throne he had created for her and Zeus had promised Aphrodite to whoever could free her. Ares attempted to venture to fetch Hephaestus and was attacked by flaming volleys of metal shards. Thanks to the interference of Dionysus, Hephaestus freed Hera willingly in exchange for Aphrodite's hand in marriage. This did not bode well with Ares or Aphrodite and in-spite of their marriage they became lovers, hiding their affair from her husband.

Aphrodite became the mother of a number of his children, and one of his favorite lovers. They constantly slept with others, but always came back. They had an understanding that they could bed anyone they wished so long as in the end they returned to the other, and that no one would be cared for more than the other. Both gods were prone to jealousy and in two such instances exacted their jealousness upon others. One was when Ares started an affair with Eos and Aphrodite cursed her with rampant sexuality. The other is when Aphrodite became taken by Adonis and thus took time away from himself. In a jealous rage he turned into a boar and killed Adonis- it should be mentioned that this was the only time that Ares killed in another form, perhaps out of a hidden shame for being so jealous.

Of course it wasn't just their own jealousy that they had to deal with, it was the jealousy of Aphrodite's husband as well. They did well in hiding their affair for a long time, that is until Helios spied them trysting one day and alerted Hephaestus who contrived a trap. Ares had put a youth, Alectryon, by the door to warn them of Helios' arrival but the youth fell asleep and Helios told Hephaestus they were at it again and he sprung his trap. Ares and Aphrodite were caught up in a net, pined in an embrace and their captor invited all the other gods to come and witness them. Once they were released Ares turned Alectryon into a rooster so he'd never forget to announce the arrival of the sun and then fled in embarrassment to Thrace.

This wasn't the only time Ares had been captured and bound. He was chained and trapped in a bronze urn by two chthonic giants, Otus and Ephialtes (the Aloadae), for thirteen months. It wasn't until their stepmother the beautiful Eriboea told Hermes who came and rescues the screaming and howling god. Artemis then tricked the Aloadae into killing each other.

Ares is said to be the father of two cities, the first is Sparta where his progenitor the Drakon was slewn by Cadmus. The Drakons teeth were sown into the ground and fully armored autochthonic Spartans sprung from the soil. To propitiate Ares, Cadmus took Are's daughter Harmonia as a bride, harmonizing all strife and founded the city of Thebes. Later, Apollo turned the couple into serpents after they sacked his oracle at Loxias and Ares transported them safely to Elysium. The other city Ares fathered was Rome, his sons with Ilia became the brothers who would fight and one would found Rome.

Despite his warlike, violent nature, Ares cared deeply for his family and would assist them when asked. When Hades was captured by Sysiphus, Ares went to the king and threatened him until his uncle was released. When Hera commanded him to assist in her attempt to prevent pregnant Leto from giving birth he willingly forced the lands of Greece to reject her as she wandered, trying to find a place to birth her twins. And when his twin threw the wretched golden apple and started the Trojan war, his beloved asked him to fight alongside her Trojans with Apollo he did so, even if it meant siding against his other siblings.

During the war Ares played his part just like the other gods. He attended the wedding of Peleus and Thetis with Aphrodite where the apple was thrown. When the war first started he was quite indifferent as to which side he'd side with and originally promised his mother and Athena he'd fight with the greeks. However when Aphrodite beckoned he couldn't resist. This of course didn't make him any friends and once the fighting commenced and Ares led the Trojans strong he was wounded by Diomedes when Athena helped him drive a spear into him forcing him to flee from the battlefield. When Zeus commanded the gods to withdraw from battle Ares was forced to watch his son Askalaphos die and had to be restrained by Athena to prevent him from rushing down into battle to avenge him.

Once Achilles returned to battle Zeus allowed the gods to return as well and the divided gods were once again at odds. At one point Aphrodite was attempting to protect her son and Ares swooped in to save her only to be attacked by Athena who dropped a boulder on him. When Hector was slain the Amazon Penthesileia, Ares' Daughter, arrive to support the Trojans and was swiftly slain by Achilles- he returned to Mt. Olympus to mourn her death. Once Achilles perished Ares descended back into the war to drive the Trojans against the warriors son Neoptolemos who took his fathers palce. He drove Aeneas to repel the Greeks as they attacked the gates of troy and when the divine allies saw the Greeks ruse of the Trojan horse he battled against Athena when they descended to destroy it until Zeus commanded them to withdraw and let Troy fall.

One of Ares' greatest foes was the hero Heracles and he found himself confronting the half-god many times. It started when Heracles was on his twelve labors and was sent to fetch the man-eating mares from Ares' son King Diomedes, the mares being a gift from the god to his child. Heracles slew the king to get to the creatures. The second was when he was sent to fetch the belt from the Amazon Queen Hippolyte, yet another gift from Ares' to his child and slew her as well. This prompted Ares to side with Pylos against Heracles in war, when Zeus forbade him from avenging his child's death. He supported his sons Kyknos and Akheloios against the hero when he fought each of them separately.

For such a chaotic and violent god, Ares did have a good side and did many favors for people, mostly family. Beyond supporting a number of people and groups in battle he gave his son Nisos a magical purple lock of hair that would guarantee him the throne of Megara. When Nisos' daughter Skylla cut off the hair he chased her, but the girl leap off a cliff before he could catch her. Ares transformed them into a pair of birds (predator and prey), allowing Nisos to get his revenge on Skylla for eternity. He gave his son Oinomaus armour, weapons and a four-horse war chariot, and daughter Penthesileia a set of armour and weapons. When his sons Polyphonte, Agrios and Oreios offended Zeus with their wickedness and sent Hermes to punish them, he transformed them, their mother and their nurse into birds. When Tereus's wife and sister-in-law killed his infant son, fed him to the king and fled, other sympathetic gods turned them into a nightingale and swallow. He then transformed his son into a hawk so he could exact vengeance on the two women. Of course if others gained favor he was more than willing to bless them as well like Aeetes, who impressed Ares with his devotion and rewarded him with a Drakon to guard the sacred grove that held the Golden Fleece, and giving his guarantee that so long as the Fleece remained in the shrine Aeetes' throne would be secure. He also gave the king the cuirass he won from the War with the Gigantes.

As the world passed out of it's belief in the gods and into -a- god, and the technology advanced to a point where his type of combat and 'war' was replaced by cannons and guns, Ares found things quite boring. While Zeus and Athena's version of war was prospering, Ares found himself driving forces in more remote areas of the world and being cast to the sidelines. However, where his warrior domain was becoming scarcer, the domain of murder and manslaughter was becoming much more... inventive. Still, as the world became more modernized, Ares felt more and more unneeded.

War: Tired of all the shit, and not getting the respect he deserved, especially as time changed and his type of fighting was becoming more and more rare, Ares decided he'd finally had enough. it was time for him to claim what was rightfully his and if the kingdom of Olympus and rule over all the gods wasn't going to be handed over to him, he'd have to take it forcefully. Upon enlisting the assistance of his grandfather, who was very pleased about being freed and taking down the son who had put him there, and gathering his allies he battled hard until the intervention of Rhea. That just sucked.

Mortal:
Born Harvey Kane Gunter was born the third child and eldest son of Lars and Kitty Gunter, first Generation Americans from Catholic German stock. Lars was a policeman and Kitty worked as a court stenographer until her first child, in all there were eight. Right off the bat he found himself fighting for attention from his parents, a mother who was busy with so many other children and a father who worked extra hours to support his large family. As he grew up he tried all sorts of ways to gain attention, from setting small fires to torturing the neighbors animals. By the time he entered middle school he learned that it was easier to not worry. The fires he set had resulted in him being confined to his room, at which he saw even less of his parents, and the animals hadn't even been tied to him- instead another neighbor kid (who -had- been torturing animals) got the credit for -his- work. He worked hard in school, hoping that maybe his only solution was to get -out- and by the time he was fifteen he'd managed to decide on a future. With the support of his parents (who admittedly felt guilty for driving their son to his choice, felt relief at one less child to worry about) he went through the things needed to gain emancipation, a GED and enrolled in the military for when his sixteenth birthday came around.

While in the army he learned fighting skills, gun play and many other resources that would prove beneficial in his eventual career choice. He also got a AS in business, his original intent to get a job at a company. Instead he found himself recruited after his tour was up and he was rejoining the regular world. He was offered a job with a 'firm' who acted as hired men. Kane (which is what Harvey had started going by), took the men up on their offer and a few years later, when he turned 24, Kane had made enough contacts and developed enough skills to branch out on his own.

Now, when you think 'hired men' most people tend to think of body guards and guns for hire. Yes, Kane has been known to take those types of jobs before, however that is not what his job actually entails. If asked, Kane will tell you that he is a 'Go-fer', as that is what a great deal of what his job entails. He is hired by independent clients to do things that may, or may not be this side of legal. This has involved such things as theft, murder, kidnapping, and a variety of high crimes. However, the majority of the time Kane's jobs involve more relaxed involvement and is strictly transporting an item from one place to another. For the most part it's cake, except the risk of being caught (most of the times what he's smuggling can put him into jail for a very long time). There have been a few instances where others were after his package, and that tends to make things moe difficult.

Currently Kane is between jobs and has come to Athens in order to relax, and possibly hit up a few sources who might know of more work.

Current location in Athens:
All characters should have dreams or feelings that there is something about their past. What has your character dreamed or felt and thought of it? All his life Kane has felt anger and hatred deep down inside that is hard to hide. He detests his father (even though he has no real need to) and has spend a good deal of his adult life in counseling trying to sort out his thoughts. He's always had violent dreams (but he wasn't the most non-violent kid, or have a non-violent job so he never thinks much on it), however he does have a recurring dream of a woman. It's no one he's met or slept with before (he's pretty sure), but this woman seems to be able to make him happy, and all of the anger goes away when he dreams of her. He's also had strong feelings that there's something missing from him, like he was born incomplete- it's a subject he's been tackling very heavily in his sessions.
