Night had long since fallen over the Scottish hills, but deep inside Hogwarts castle the Slytherin students knew little of the brightness that could fall during the day. That familiar green overcast hung over the common room. The paint of the walls moved, although it was only the reflection of the water bouncing off the glass. All of the other students had gone to their beds, some were actually asleep, but one remained in the common room. The fire was low, but the eldest Black girl seemed to pay it no mind. She must keep it low, in order to keep some light to see but not enough for others to notice her presence. A leather bound book was at rest in her lap. That familiarly twisted wand in her hand. Her lips moved, but everything was silent. Non-verbal practice, nonetheless, and a perfect time for it, too. Her wrist barely flicked the wand, only to produce a spark in the fire like an accelerant. She grinned with satisfaction. Still in her robes from earlier that day, but she had her legs folded like an Indian, as it were. No one was around, so no need for modesty. The book moved to her lap and once again, with hardly any flourish there was a larger spark, but in a blue far more fantastical than the hottest part of the flame. 20 February, 1974What an eventful week. I was surprised by my fiancée with a new home. For the two of us, it is perfect. A three story town house kept far enough away from muggle eyes. He's already cast the disillusionment charms over the yard for our protection. Not that I fear we will ever need it with the lack of knowledge coming from the Ministry. We haven't officially moved in but our bedroom is finished, so we've been sleeping there periodically. Since our meeting last weekend, Lucius, Rodolphus and I have kept an eye on a particular family. Despite my brother-in-law's wicked intentions, he did succeed better than we could have imagined and Rodolphus and I are grateful for it. The amount of blood was absolutely delicious. The way he stomped on that thing's neck--I've never seen something so gorgeous. Already such physical people, seeing each other at our best was difficult to keep ourselves restrained. Needless to say, he had to have me there in the same room in which he killed. I have put a lot of thought into our current situation and since my sister and mother have taken to controlling the path of my relationship, Mr. Lestrange has so kindly agreed to eloping. I would have very much liked to have a ceremony, to prove that yes we are a normal couple who is just as much in love as everyone assumes the Malfoys are but some people would rather ruin that for us than let Rodolphus and I have it our way. So no, Mother, there won't be a reception and no, Narcissa, there won't be a gift exchange. We're both bringing plenty of money to this marriage, as it is, we don't need charity. I'm dying for the Prophet to post the news on the murder. The revealing of the Dark Mark. I simply cannot wait! So I've already snooped and seen the muggle newspapers. I was just browsing on my way to get eggs. They all but stated how frightened they were, even calling it "serial" and for others in the area to keep an open eye. How delicious. Character Info Full name: Bellatrix Medea Black Age: 26 Date of birth: December 21, 1951 Location of birth: Allegiance: Death Eater Mother: Druella Rosier Father: Cygnus Black Sisters: Andromeda ('53), Narcissa ('55)
Toujours Pur Personality: Ever heard of The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black? Of course you have, who hasn't? Think of those two descriptors: noble and ancient. Applying them to a most proud member of the Black house is simple. Although her qualities may not be noble in the sense of a Gryffindor, perhaps, but for a Slytherin, it's perfection. What Bellatrix sees as her strength, another may see as her weakness. Her primary weakness is, however, the fact that she believes to have none. Her family is just a vessel for which she was raised, it has no true value and if betrayed their Noble Name, easily disposed. The ancient quality, for Bellatrix, is testimony of their purity. If a family can stand against time and remain pure, naturally with pruning here and there, their heritage is far better than any other wizarding family. Blood seems to be more than a fascination for Bellatrix, hence her reason for toting around a knife. The woman has a wand and yet employs the knife for one reason, it's ability to shed blood. She sees it as a disgrace to a witch or wizard if sliced with her particular weapon, for it rids them of the one thing that makes them worthy in this world. Bellatrix is most loyal with an absurd amount of ambition that makes her nearly insane, for the lengths she'll go to for her cause are unending. She lusts most for power and being the most impressive witch of all time, through Voldemort she sees this as a possibility. At his side and always true, she believes he will share with her his victory over the wizarding world. Another weakness, for Voldemort shares nothing. After her sister's betrayal, Bellatrix has had a certain amount of trouble with the concept of trust. The girls were never particularly close, by means of any other band of sisters, but the dishonour and disregard Andromeda brought to the kitchen table with her announcement of marrying Ted Tonks proved to Bellatrix where her loyalties lied. Strictly with the theory of hurt before being hurt, the oldest sister lashed out and made the disowning process far more uglier than it needed to be. Now she has only put her faith in one person, Lord Voldemort, for he would never betray his own cause.
History: Bellatrix was born the oldest daughter to Cygnus Black and his wife Druella Rosier on 1 December of 1951. The couple were given two other daughters, Narcissa and Andromeda, but none would amount the pride Bellatrix gave her parents. At a young age, she was fascinated by the world in which she lived. Everything about her magical blood brought life a sort of vigorous exploration. She was sparked with a insatiable thirst for spells, curses, history and even the pride that surrounded the Black family. Her childhood games were to toy with both her sisters at whatever cost. Not in a sense of pranks because pranks suggested that neither girl knew of their origin. Narcissa and Andromeda knew their sister's antics, almost looking at her as a bully. Unfortunately for them, she was praised for the behaviour. Her father saw it as drive and unfortunate for him, never learned to say no. It stopped, however, when the oldest sister received her Hogwarts letter and was later sorted into the house of Slytherin. She had been accepted at last by the wizarding community and no longer felt the need to prove her dominance over the younger two. Until the other two attended the school, she remained out of contact with them. Rarely even visiting home except for summer holiday. Hogwarts held a limitless amount of knowledge and she spent most of her time studying its history. It fed into her pure-blood mania. She joined the Slytherin quidditch team as beater and proved the most ruthless of the squad. She favoured most the history of magic and studied deep on the efforts of such wizarding greats as Grindelwald and Salazar Slytherin. Floating by with almost perfect marks on both her OWL and NEWT exams, it was obvious who the favourite daughter was. When her second sister joined the house and befriended a muggleborn named Ted Tonks, the competition began again. Not only were their parents heartbroken, but Bellatrix felt she, above anyone else, was the only one to save her sister. She spent as much time as she could, playing the best friend and helping her with magical history. She even slipped Andromeda random notes and pamphlets that promoted the need for a continued pure blood. Rumour perked up during her last few years at the school about a revolution. With the promise of returning wizarding power to the pureblood families, Bellatrix had even more drive than ever to become the strongest witch she could. If this return to traditional ways pulled through, she could help inspire Andromeda and the rest of the world. Power could, after all, fall into her hands. Upon graduation, she threw herself at the mercy of one who called himself Lord. He was glorious, powerful, bold and gave her stomach a particular tingle. Not out of lust, but fear. And she loved it. She thrived upon it. Every word he spoke and every charm that flew from his beautifully crafted wand, it was pure lust. Upon graduation, her mother spoke to another purebred family on the arrangement of Bellatrix's marriage. Tarquin McTavish was given her hand with little words between the two. Yes, they played for the same house in quidditch. He the beater and she the chaser, but he was two years younger. Until the boy was of age, the marriage would not proceed. The two began a friendship of sorts and once he was seventeen, Bellatrix convinced him to join the forces of her Lord. For eight years her heart belonged to Lord Voldemort, answering every call and summons with the utmost of loyalty. Never once did she appear to be unwilling. There was no need for a imperious curse here. Despite her parents' wishes, Bellatrix and Tarquin never married. They kept the engagement, as promised, until both decided they were ready. Secretly, neither planned to ever slip a ring on their finger. After four years, the accompaniment of the oldest Lestrange boy joined the league. His lust seemed directed towards her, although his lack of skill completely repulsed her. He was attractive, yes, but all the women wanted him. Bellatrix Black was not every woman. She was destined to be the greatest witch the world had ever seen, or so she told herself.
Appearance: Never, ever is she seen in muggle fashion. Bellatrix prefers style of a darker sense, something today might be remarked as gothic but rarely so. Her dresses always reflect a time before her existence whether its with a cameo broach or bustle and corset. Yet perfectly slimmed and shortened for her physical lifestyle. Her hair is rarely brushed, which leaves it in curls down her back. Her features are sharp and chiselled like a medieval character, especially the pale behind her eyes. This is what gives her the sunken in quality after Azkaban. Skin is pale and untouched by the sun, a quality she appreciates more than anything for she considers her skin to be as perfect as porcelain. Her beauty is strangely captivating, whereas her sister Narcissa is visually stunning in every sense of the word, Bellatrix embodies the sort of exotic siren not even Odysseus could refuse without physical confinement.
Identifying features/marks: Her mess of black hair, rarely ever tamed. Death Mark tattoo on inside of her left arm, featuring a winding snake and a skull.

14 January, 1978
Aunt Walburga's bird just arrived with another letter from my darling Regulus. How that woman made such a beautiful son, I will never know. Note how I refuse to mention the other creature that spawned from her womb, disgrace. He has recommended to me a new book, in which I suppose I will pick up on my next outing. If only to have the spine displayed on my shelf next time he is home. At least the boy has good intentions and his bastardbrother has yet to influence him. I have taken it upon myself to ensure that will never happen. I should have been more careful with Andromeda. I should have known the moment she actually spoke about Muggle Studies as though it were interesting that she needed my guidance. How I failed. Oh, but I cannot blame myself. If anything, I could always blame father. What a weak, weak man.
Regulus did, however, question about my quest for a pet. He cleverly strays from the word husband or mate, because could a woman like I ever have such a thing? Not with this desire I hold so close. I could never believe some thing to come between that. That damn elf just broke something, I know it. If I chose to return to this later, may the paper praise its luck. If not, I found something far more worthy of my time.
