{ lucretia [THE DIRECTOR]
THE BASICS! FULL NAME: Lucretia NICKNAMES: The Director, Lucy AGE / DOB: Chronically in her mid-30s, has lived for over 130 years, and is effectively in her mid-50s due to a sacrifice of her life force that she was forced to make / Unknown OCCUPATION: Founder and Director of the Bureau of Balance, former writer/biographer, former chronicler for the crew of the Starblaster ALIGNMENT: Lawful Good BLOCK / ROOM: [to be filled out upon acceptance]
PERSONALITY! PRIMARY MOTIVATION: Protecting her friends and those who need protecting, and making up for her past misdeeds DEEPEST FEAR / INSECURITY: Destroying yet another world through inaction MBTI: INFJ LIKES: Quiet, peace, the feeling of a good pen gliding smoothly on quality paper, nature, writing, drawing, painting, and otherwise creating, listening to others’ stories, and the feeling of home that her friends brought her on their long journey DISLIKES: Mess, poor-quality stationery and art supplies, talking about herself, the things that she had to do and the decisions she wasn’t strong enough to make FAVORITE TOPICS OF CONVERSATION: Art, books, the kind of philosophical discussions usually reserved for late night sleepovers that often cover the nature of life and death and faith and right and wrong Lucretia (for that is her name, no matter how long she went by another, how many identities she’s had over the years, and how she’s changed from the eager 20-something that she was when she first began the journey that would lead to her becoming the Director, an identity she now feels is wrong for her to take) is, in a word, trying. Not in the sense that her personality takes a lot of patience to deal with (she’s the one with the patience to put up with the three bozos, one nervous scientist, one pyromaniac, and one Davenport that she calls her closest and most adored friends), but that she is doing her best. She was once meek, shy, and retiring, more interested in the stories of others than in writing her own, a wallflower content to observe those around her. But even then, she had a surprising and fierce determination about her, brought out only when her back was to the wall and she had no choice. In the years on their century-long journey, and in the decade that has transpired since, that determination has come out in spades and turned her into the hard, exasperated, unapproachable woman she often is mistaken to be. In reality, and despite her best efforts to harden her heart, Lucretia is very soft hearted and kind. So, so very kind, perhaps almost mothering in a way (though that could just be the impression that her apparent age and decades of wisdom gives off). She is concerned for her friends. She is concerned for her employees. She is concerned for the entire world. And she will do what it takes to make sure that they - everyone, everyone in the world, everyone in the planar system, everyone in the entire multiverse and beyond - is safe. And she has done some awful, some terrible, some unforgivable and frightening and underhanded and lonely things. But she did them for the greater good, for what she knows is the right course of action. That said...she’s stubborn. Incredibly hard headed, sometimes detrimentally. While she isn’t quite black and white and she’s certainly open to suggestion, she knows how she would do things and that’s how she thinks they should be done. And she will do what it takes. “We do what we can because we must,” and all that.
HISTORY! LINK: Lucretia @ TAZ Wikia PROUDEST MOMENT or WORST MOMENT: Her proudest moment is, undoubtedly, the moment when the others reformed on the deck of the Starblaster after the year where they were all turned to stone. The knowledge that she, Lucretia, the meek woman who had only been drafted into the mission because they needed someone to write down the details, she had saved them all. She had survived for a year, half feral, terrified that this was it at all moments, alone and scared but just so determined. She fucking did it. Her life has a lot of worst moments, though. The creation of her Staff and the other Relics, the moment she first fed a scrap of information to the baby voidfish, the continuous feeding, the founding of the Bureau, hiring everyone on, losing her reclaimers, killing people who didn’t need to be killed, bringing her friends into the mission and lying to them for so very long...she is a collection of worst moments, an impossibly dark tapestry of a human being with only a few glimmering bright points.
SORTING! WHAT POKEMON WOULD YOUR CHARACTER BE?: Gardevoir Gardevoir, the Embrace Pokémon. Gardevoir will use all of its psychic energy to protect a Trainer it has made a deep connection with. HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER REACT TO ARRIVING: If there’s one thing Lucretia had learned in her many, many years, it’s that no one was too proud to beg. “Please,” she asked the woman standing in front of her cage. “Please, I’m - they need me, they need me. The world is ending, do you understand that? Everyone is going to die if you do not return me. My friends...I’m the only one who can help them. Send me back. Just for a day. A few hours, even. I have to stop the Hunger.” The scientist remained impassive. Lucretia felt her eyes begin to burn with tears and she grit her teeth. She had not done everything that she’d done, she’d not lost her friends - her family - just to end up in a cage at the most important moment in her entire, long, so very long life. “I am the Director of the Bureau of Balance,” she said, fighting back her tears and standing up straighter. “I have killed worlds before, I have allowed even more to die, and if I am not allowed to leave, I will find a way to destroy this world as well. Do not doubt me.” The woman turned away, to another person in another cage, and Lucretia fell to her knees and wept, bitter and frightened. WHAT THREE ITEMS FROM HOME WOULD YOUR CHARACTER LIKE?: A blank notebook, her robes, and the semi-magical portrait that hung in her office WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE CHOICES FOR YOUR CHARACTER'S SQUAD? Four, Five, and Nine. Four and Five because of Wanda Maximoff and Billy Kaplan - she’d like to keep an eye on any and all world-ending forces, if that’s alright. Nine because I think that she’d get along with many of the people there.
