Appearance: Kyle has a bit of the boy next door meets athlete thing going on. He’s tall enough, with a build that shows he has spent a lot of time running and playing various sports. His skin is lightly tanned, in a healthy way. He has brown hair of a medium shade, on the short side with clipped bangs across the very top of his forehead. His eyes are brown as well, and he has an easy sort of smile. He has a preppy, sporty sort of style, in a casual, lazy boy sort of way.
Psychic Ability: Astral Projection.
Expanded abilities: Kyle is able to lift his psychic self (or spirit self) from his body and send it out to other places. He can instantly send it to another location and while he cannot touch or manipulate anything, his astral self can move about, can look at things, read things, etc. He can even interact and speak with other astral projectors in their astral form. He is trying to learn to make his astral form ‘visible’ when he wants (with little success so far).
Limitations: When he is astral projecting, his body is left ‘empty’ and vulnerable if it is not in a safe place. He can thus far only send his astral self out over the distance of a few states or do - and he has less precision the farther away he goes. Despite his astral self being unseen, he can be sensed by telepaths, empaths and those with ESP.
Personality: Kyle is mostly easy going. He likes to hang around, to joke around, to have some fun. He is a typical guy in many regards, and he likes sports and food , stupid jokes and watching girls. Kyle is nice to most people, although he can be a bit on the teasing side, especially if he knows he can rile someone up easily. Kyle gets very focused on sports sometimes, and it can be hard to tear him away from them - when one of his teams are playing, his attention is completely on the television screen. He does alright in school, not a top student, but he doesn’t struggle either. There is something of a temper there, but it takes a lot to spark, but oh yes, he will irritate and annoy, and let you know if it. Like many teenaged boys he doesn’t always have a lot of patience, and can get frustrated with certain things - homework, the mystery of girls, and boring things.
Strengths: He’s athletic, fairly good at the sports he likes (baseball, basketball and track) and is strong enough, for a guy his size and age.
Weaknesses: Kyle is diabetic, and thus has to be careful what he eats, and must give himself insulin shots daily. He doesn’t always have patience for things.
Likes: Baseball, track and field, basketball, gym class, action movies and stupid comedies, pizza, chicken wings, sleep, bicycling, stupid Youtube videos, his astral projection class, people who don't play games.
Dislikes: Early mornings, not being able to eat a lot of sugary things and junk food, needles (they don’t phase him, but they are irritating), annoying people, skanky girls, homework on weekends, weird vegetables, evening soap opera type shows (and daytime soaps), chick flicks and girlie music.
History: Kyle was raised in a fairly normal family in small town New Hampshire. He had an older brother and sister (Alex and Becky) and a younger brother (Scott), and two loving parents. He loved in a middle class neighbourhood, went to a decent enough school. He had plenty of friends, played sports once he reached middle school, and did alright in his classes. He was diagnosed as diabetic at the age of ten, and was put on a strict diet and learned to give himself insulin shots.
Around the age of thirteen, in the middle of puberty, along came his psychic powers. He suddenly found that he would be out and walking, talking to someone except suddenly they couldn’t see him and would freak out. He would turn and see his friends running back to his body on the ground, and he wouldn’t know how to get back in. After this happened a couple times his parents took him to the doctor, thinking it was some sort of diabetic shock or coma, but the doctors couldn’t come up with anything. Kyle went through several doctors until he found one that hit the nail on the head, and set him up an appointment with a woman named Bethany Carter. After a conversation it was clear that he could do what she did - astral projection - and in his Sophomore year he started at the Zener School for the Mind.
