Name: Contessa Harlow Worthington, goes by Connie though she's been called 'Duckie' by family and friends since she was 14 Age: 23 Family: Warren Worthington IV (father), Emma Frost (mother), X-Men (extended family)
Abilities / Skills: Winged Flight: Spanning 16 feet sixteen feet from wingtip to wingtip and fully feathered in the whitest down, Connie has inherited her father's gift of flight. Her body has been restructured to make the most of her wings (hollow bone structure, superhumanly strong shoulders on such a slight girl, strong lungs, special eyes to see through wind velocity, etc.) and, from diligent training, she can travel at speeds of up to 150mph. She can also carry up to two passengers with a minimal loss of speed but maximum complaining.
Minor Regenerative Healing Factor: Just like it says on the label; broken bones mend faster, she doesn't get colds quite as often, but should a limb be removed she'd be a whole lot of trouble. This ability extends to being transferred by blood, thus she can heal others who come into contact with his blood, provided they have the same blood type.
Empathic Aura: Still in its infancy, Connie has recently gained the ability to emit a low-level empathic aura around herself, allowing her to receive emotional input from others and project her own emotional state in up to a 10' radius. This could turn out to be a larger boon, but for now the power is weak and still needs some effective training.
Personality: First Impression: There is no possible way a celebrity kid could have come out this normal. For all the money and the heroics she grew up around, all the drama and photos and magazine news, Connie is a bright and funny young lady with no ego or attitude in sight. She loves things with ducks on them, microwave popcorn and romantic comedies. In tense situations she can clam up real fast and tend to shrink a bit, but she's trying to push past that and get assertive. It tends to come out a little awkward and dorky, but the intent is there.
At Heart: She wishes she were a lot better at that. In fact, she wishes she were a lot better at a lot of things. She wishes her parents got the darling little child they always wanted, the one who was beautiful and business-savvy and perfect in every way. She actually sort of views Christian as the child her parents really wanted and is kind of glad at least Mother has a more perfect son. It's allowed her to go off and join the Peace Corp, go traveling and learn more by doing than going through the five year plan her father had set out for her. This freedom has actually brought her back to the Academy and her parents when all she wanted to do was run away. It's allowed her to understand a lot of the things her parents wnet through on her own, which has brought her to a lot of the same conclusions. She's a good person, just not the best.
Deeper Secret: But she could be. Deep down inside, Connie was given all the tools to be a right bitch; all the money, the power the instinct and the Worthington pride to put her at the top and make people's lives a living hell. She doesn't want to, but the opportunity is always there.
History: Warren Worthington and Emma Frost at one time had a rather public affair. It was a paparazzi's dream job photographing two very lovely people in very expensive places glowing with power and romance. They wed to the tabloid's delight and promptly exploded shortly after the 'I Dos'... also to the tabloid's delight. The two were simply too alike to really exist in the same space, far too passionate to really settle into domestic bliss. Warren was distracted, Emma had an affair with Sean Cassidy and the pre-nup decided everything after that.
Even their little girl.
Joint custody occurred through most of her formative years, one parent constantly trying to outdo the other. Mother would be loving, girlish and expensive with her six months out of the year, Father would be charming, adventurous and noble the other six months and both wanted the same thing in return: the absolute hatred of the other parent. Overwhelmed by the attention and a little lonely because of how hollow it was, she grew up surrounded by the best of the best that didn't really mean anything to her. She should have been spoiled but since all the cash came from parents who were quite literally trying to bribe her loyalty, all the ponies in the world couldn't make her the daughter they really wanted.
And then it got worse: puberty hit and her father took a certainly amount of beaming pride at the wings that developed on her back. Her mother suggested plastic surgery, but that just started a hellacious argument that went on for months. It wasn't the first time plastic surgery was mentioned; like it or not, she was growing up awkwardly, not the stunning beauty of either of her parents. Dental work, a nose job, facials and treatments were the regiment when it was time to stay with Mother, while Father started to mellow out in his old age over the war. She had his wings, she was a Worthington and nothing made him happier. Well, that and to see that woman Frost falling into a pit of deadly vipers.
By the time she was seventeen, her father had it all planned out for her: the college, the degree, the business, nearly the husband and kids if she hadn't jumped ship and ran away. Growing up under such pressure from two really demanding parents had caused a rebellion to finally burst and she simply packed a bag, got a ticket and flew off. She was ridiculously easy to find at first, since her money was traceable and she only went to places she had been before, but then a small booth in an italian college plaza got her attention and she just disappeared.
She had joined the Peace Corps.
A year in Africa, working hard and doing her part for people who'd never heard of her or her parents or an iPhone. She lived simply and was loved by the populace, partially because she looked like an angel, partially because she finally understood why her parents had dedicated themselves to mankind, mutant or otherwise and... partially because of her secondary mutation. She'd never noticed it before, but no one could argue around her in the middle of nowhere like this. It was as if she were emitting an outward calm since for the first time in a long while, she was happy helping others away from the constraints of her family. This discovery not only helped her negotiate with the local tribes for her Corps group, but also told her she had to go home.
Team: X-Men
Ect: She's still famous, but not excessively? Kind of what happens to celebrities once they stop going to clubs and start doing charity work.
She was a New Mutant in her younger years, had her own costume and everything. Went by the codename of 'Avian' because Duckling was shot down instantly.
