Name: Matthew Allen Rizzard
Alias: Matt, Mattie (though he's only called this by mother and his mun :-) )
Field Name: March Hare
Age: 21
Birthdate: March 2nd
Nationality: United States

Physical Information.
Eye color: blue
Hair color: brown
Height: 5’9’’
Weight: 140
Build: slender. He’s a skinny little guy

Personal Information.
Personality: He’s fairly geeky. But not in the cool gaming I’m a goth/bohemian and angst way. He’s just…geeky. Like the math nerd, band d00d kind of geeky. When you get to know him, in general, Matthew’s a positive guy. Very ‘glass if half full’ type person, but not to the point of being stupid about it. He’s very persistent and determined, and puts just a bit more effort into the things he does than most teens would. Could be considered something of an over achiever, though he genuinely does like school, probably due to the fact that he pushes himself to excel in academics. Also, Matthew has a very good sense of humor. He can be very clumsy at times and tends to slightly bungle things on a regular basis. If he hadn’t learned how to laugh at himself a long time ago, he would be a very bitter guy by this point in his life. He’s the first person to laugh at himself if he trips and falls. This is also the reason why he reserves the right to laugh at anyone else if they trip and fall. But only after making sure they’re okay, of course.

Matthew tends to push himself a bit hard at times because he realizes that musical accomplishments aside, on the whole, there isn’t all that much special about him. At his old school he was a band geek and academics nerd, and at Xavier’s, his passive powers make him someone that can be easily overlooked. On the whole, Matthew doesn’t mind being different or deviating from the norm, as long as he is not alone in doing so and is part of a similar group. In a new or unknown environment, if not backed by peers, Matthew will allow himself to blend into the crowd and pretty much go unnoticed until he can scope things out and find his niche and place to shine a little. This is probably going to be his standard method of operations at Xavier’s until he develops a few friendships.

And thinks the Mythbusters are the most amazing guys EVER

Skills: Matthew is a very accomplished trumpet player, and was a part of the Virgina Youth Symphony for the past two years. If he were still going to his old school, he would have been section leader and a band officer in his high school band. He was also a member of the student council, though he only held a small, peripheral office, and always got grades that fell in the ‘academic excellence’ standard of things. Matthew is a quick thinker, and often enjoys trying to come up with weird and/or fun solutions to seemingly complex problems, or complex solutions to simple problems-(think Goldbergian type contraptions). He spent a summer marching with the Phantom Regiment Drum Corp and is now double majoring in Mechanical Engineering and music at NYU.

Limitations: Matthew doesn’t have complete control over part of his mutation, particularly his new superspeed and superjump abilities. Like most young people he can be withdrawn and judgmental at times, often making snap judgments and labels for people without real provocation.

Interests: Though he has a love of general classical as well as marching music, his true musical passion is jazz, and Matt is quite the musical snob when it comes to 'popular' music. He also likes jigsaw puzzles. They tend to help calm and organize his mind, particularly if he’s upset/unhappy/disturbed/stressed, and he pretty much always has one that he’s working on.

Dislikes: Bullies and in general people who are unnecessarily mean. He’s seen enough of those in his lifetime, kthx. People who think one kind of music is ‘better’ than another, especially since any kind that he participates in usually ends up on the ‘not better’ end of that list. Also, meat. Ever since his mutation manifested, Matthew simply lost his taste for the stuff in any form and has been a vegetarian for years now.

History: The only child of a police officer and housewife, Matthew spent most of his middle class Virginian life as normal as can be expected. As he grew, Matthew took an obvious interest in his academics and developed a love of music early on. His father was always a bit concerned that his son didn’t take to more masculine interests like sports or games, but loved his boy nonetheless.

Matthew’s mutation manifested one summer while he and his parents were on a ‘family vacation’ in the Smoky Mountains. Though the trip included a few of his cousins so he wasn’t the only one his age present, Matthew would have much rather been back at home getting ready for band camp or doing something that was generally not out in middle of BFE wilds of the mountains. A bit grumpy, he wandered off by himself one evening and got turned around, quite a bit away from the campsite. Trying to find his way back, Matthew ran into a rabid wolf and barely escaped being attacked by morphing into jack rabbit form and dashing himself off to safety.

Confused and disoriented, hare!Matthew did eventually find the way back to his family’s campsite, hiding under the camper for the night. By morning he was back in human form, not really knowing what happened, and facing parents quite a bit angry he had just wandered off, but glad their son was safe.

Matthew’s parents were a bit uneasy and unnerved by this sudden change in their only child but did eventually did accept their son’s ‘ability’. Most of their unease came from concern over how much harm being a mutant could put Matt in; a concern that has only grown over time and their desire to protect Matt has now far outweighed any aversion they might have had to him being a mutant.

With the institution of the MRA, Matthew’s parents thought it would be best for him to go to school with other young people like himself, even though this meant that Matthew would miss his senior year at the school he’s been attending for the past few years. Matthew was not very happy about this, and is certainly a bit bitter about the change, but was willing to try and make the best of it. In the end Matt settled into Xavier's quite nicely, eventually graduating Salutatorian of his class, and now is attending NYU with a double major of music and mechanical engineering.

The recent trip to a hellish future brought something new for Matt- the chance to be heroic. His usually useless mutation gave him the opportunity to play a crucial part in the plans to make sure some of his friends and schoolmates survived, and though initially unsure, he did his part to the utmost of his ability. Unfortunately he ended up dead for it, but his life energy was swapped with that of the alternate future's Greydon Creed, who was the cause of things turning out the way they did in the first place. Resurrection has done wonders for him, as beforehand he had been becoming more and more unsure of himself and his place at Xavier's as well as the grand scheme of things. Now's he's getting himself back on track, determined to do his best with the life he's been given a second chance at.

Personal Views: Current events, pretty much, scare the fuck out of Matthew, though he will try to laugh them and put on a good face as much as possible, and is learning to deal with them better as time goes along. He can see the good in the base concept of the MRA, but still he’s not too happy about having yet another thing that makes him stand out from others in what many would consider to be a negative way. He sees the good intentions of it, as there are several mutants that can be a danger to themselves and others, but in the back of his head he senses something very big brotherish and generally doom/gloom about it all. And the whole Magneto thing: reference the first sentence.

Alliance: X-Men

Genetic Information.
Mutation: Matthew is a metamorph with the ability to morph into a large jack rabbit (not like, ridiculously big or anything, about two and a half feet in length. hey, they all can’t be big and bad, right?) While in hare form, Matthew retains pretty much all of his consciousness as a human, as long as he can keep any pressing animal instincts from taking over his brain. He has the standard heightened sense most metamorphs do- superior smell, vision, etc. Also he has a 'preda-dar' of sorts, a kind of extra instinct that kicks in, alerting him to present danger others might not notice, and is probably a result of being more inclined to the prey end of most predator/prey situations. Recently Matt acquired a secondary aspect to his mutation, and now has heightened speed and jumping capabilities both in hare and human form.

Registered Mutant: Yes. In his father’s mind, as soon as it became a law there was no question as to whether or not his son would be registered. His mother, though a good deal more reluctant, eventually agreed, and since Matthew’s mutation isn’t dangerous, saw no reason not too. With the updates to the MRA, Matt refused to go through the re-registration process for quite some time, finally caving when it began to cause problems for his parents.
