Date of Birth/Age: July 11, 1959, 20 House/School Years: Hufflepuff Blood Status: Halfblood Alliance: STAUNCH order supporter, but she is not a member. However, she gives as much aid as she can. As a Ministry employee, she gathers as much information on known death eaters working in the order as she is able and passes it along. She has been in the process of attempting to join, but it won't work out in the end Occupation: Werewolf Support Services specialist in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Basically she serves as a therapist of sorts for werewolves, trying to ease their transition if they are newly bitten, or helping them to cope later on. She also is involved in research at a facility outside of London that takes place on full moons. Werewolf volunteers allow her and several other members of the department to observe their transformations in a controlled, safe environment in hopes that magical ways of coping with the change can be found. Appearance: Marley considers herself pretty enough, but mostly average. Her hair is naturally blonde, though she often charms it different shades for the fun of it. Her lips are full and her mouth slightly wide, and sometimes she wishes her eyes were a pretty blue instead of muddy brown, but all-in-all, she's pleased with herself. She's not thin, just average, with a few soft curves and some muscle thrown in for diversity. She dresses professionally at work in robes, but at home often lounges in jeans. She was raised mostly by her muggle mother, and she feels more comfortable in muggle attire PB: Linda Cardellini Personality (include strengths and weaknesses):The two most dominant parts of Marley's personality are that she is caring and determined. In there somewhere are the hufflepuff qualities of loyalty and hard work, and when it all comes together, she's just a generally good person. She's tolerant and non-judgmental, makes friends easily and keeps them even easier. She's good with animals and people, perhaps because both can tell that she's just a good person. She was never the smartest girl in her class, but she was a determined student in the courses she cared about most. She's never been athletically inclined, but prefers being outdoors to inside, which makes her stir-crazy around the office sometimes when she's not with a 'patient.' Strengths: Good listener, sociable, loyal, willfull, tolerant Weaknesses: Often tries too hard to see the good in people who don't deserve it, temper, workaholic (but only because she loves her job) Achievements: Did well enough in school, graduated with several E's on NEWTs, including Care of Magical Creatures, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Charms. Earned a position in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures as an intern in the Werewolf Support Services department and got a full-time position there after just a year. In school it was a rabbit (she claimed it was because she was a vegetarian!) but once she really got into her job, it changed. History (at least 3-4 solid paragraphs): Marian Zeller was born into a blended family. She had two older brothers and one older sister by another mother, a pureblood woman named Martha who had died suddenly when Marley's sister was two years old. Marley's mother was a muggleborn witch named Daria who Richard Zeller had married a year after his first wife's death. She was twenty years his junior, barely out of Hogwarts. They met through work. He is a member of the Wizengamot and she was a law clerk in a fellow Wizengamot member's office. Despite the rumors that Daria married Richard solely for money and status, it truly was a May-December love affair. Daria was only twenty when Marley was born. Marley grew up in a big family that kept growing with her. Her two older brothers were already in Hogwarts by the time Marley was three years old, but she was very close to her sister Lanie, only two years older than her. When she was two, her mother had her second child, a son named Cayden. She was eleven by the time her next brother was born, Cillian, and off to school. Growing up with so many siblings meant that there was never a shortage of people to play with, or, as was normally the case with her older brothers, someone to be picked on by. It was in these early years that Marley learned the meaning of caring and being cared for, and also the strength to stand up for herself. At school, she was quickly sorted into Hufflepuff. She was upset with the hat's decision at first, since Lanie and her brothers were all in Ravenclaw, but she soon found her own niche. She made friends easily and came to love her housemates like another extension of her family. She was never the best student in her classes, though she did excel in Care of Magical Creatures, Defense Against the Dark Arts and Charms, it was not without great effort. She wasn't the person to go for to get tutoring, but she was always willing to lend an ear if a classmate had a problem to share. She was never good at Quidditch but she never hesitated to join in on a pick-up game out on the pitch, and was a huge fan of the Hufflepuff team. She and Lanie grew apart during school, but they always seemed to come back together as if the distance had never existed during breaks. Lanie graduated and left Marley behind at Hogwarts to begin auror training. Her older brothers were both holding down Ministry jobs by this point as well, Adam as a hitwizard and Alex, the oldest, working under his father at the Wizengamot in preparation to one day take over his father's position. Marley finished out Hogwarts looking out for her brother Cayden, who was also a Hufflepuff. When she graduated, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. Enough talks with the Care of Magical Creatures professor, as well as her head of house, had determined that a job dealing with magical creatures was the perfect place for Marley to excel. Her interest in werewolves had led the CoMC prof to suggest a career in the Werewolf Support Services office. She applied for an internship before finishing Hogwarts, and was offered the spot upon graduation. She worked her tail off for a year, doing whatever anyone asked of her, and at the end of the internship was offered a permanent position in the department. Everything seemed to be falling into place until eight months ago. Lanie was on patrol with the DMLE when she was killed. Marley was devastated. She suspected that the 'dark wizards' that had been spoken of were responsible, but it wasn't until she spoke with a friend (TBD) who was a member of the Order that she knew beyond doubt. Marley kept at her job as if everything was normal once the funeral was over, but she felt the loss deeply. Using her connections (and her father and brothers') within the Ministry, she started passing as much information as she could to her single contact within the Order, hoping to help them in any way she can. It's not so much to avenge her sister's death as to prevent other people from losing their loved ones in the same manner. Meanwhile, she has thrown herself into her job. There are several 'patients' (she refuses to refer to them as anything else, anything dehumanizing) that she has gotten incredibly close to. Recently she has started taking part in a research project of sorts. Some of the volunteer 'patients' have agreed to shift in an undisclosed 'safe' location outside of London and allow the transition and the time that they are shifted to be observed in hopes that one day treatments can be developed to improve werewolves' quality of life. | |||||||||
