Personality:
First and probably most importantly, Liam is a twin. It's true that some sets of twins, even the identical ones, are very different, but Liam and Graham sort of pick up where the other leaves off. In appearance, they are completely identical, down to the last freckle. In personality they do have their differences, but they complement one another instead of clashing. Usually, when they do things together, Liam initiates them. Of course, Graham is never more than half a step behind because he's the one who makes sure Liam's crazy plans don't result in more catastrophe than was originally intended.
Both twins are friendly, popular blokes. The two of them, the perfect double act, pull pranks, cause shenanigans in class, cheer up sad people by being simply ridiculous--the whole nine yards. Like Graham, Liam gets on with nearly everyone, especially the girls, since both twins are outrageous flirts. Liam tends to be physically affectionate as well, definitely the type to give his mates friendly hugs, throw an arm around someone's shoulders, or offer a bird a piggyback ride to class for no particular reason.
Liam is always on the move. Unlike his twin, Liam enjoys planning, though his plans are constantly changing with new situations. He keeps several in his head at all times, whether it's a short term plan to get to class and avoid the crowded hallways so he can maximize the time he spent sleeping in, or a long term plan like what he'll do in the future--working with dragons, by the way. Liam doesn't usually share these plans with anyone, except Graham sometimes, but he feels good whenever he completes one, however small. Like most Hufflepuffs, Liam has an excellent work ethic, and rarely skives off class or essays, though he's not going to do extra work for fun. Naturally intelligent and talented, his marks are good to excellent, especially in Defense Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures, though he's a bit weak in Transfiguration.
While Graham is more in tune with his feelings, and tends to bottle things up, in that aspect, Liam is the opposite. Honesty's the best policy as far as he's concerned. Sure, he can be tactful and usually is, but you don't have to worry about Liam being false with you. Whether he loves or hates you, you'll know. This has bitten him in the arse before because he sometimes speaks before he thinks. Also unlike Graham, Liam doesn't tend to care much what people think about him. He pulls pranks and does outrageous stunts for his own amusement, and if others like it, so much the better. Because of this, criticism usually rolls off his back, even when he probably should have taken it to heart. There's a very short list of people whose criticism he'll actually take.
Liam also has a thrill-seeking streak a mile wide. He practically lives to feel exhilirated and is always pushing the boundaries of what is safe/wise/etc. Liam always picks dare and would never, ever back down, no matter how ridiculous, embarrassing, or dangerous--in fact, the moreso, the better. A bored Liam is an extremely dangerous situation, akin to a ticking time bomb, and it's best to try and keep this situation from happening as much as possible.
Though Liam does have his differences from his twin, to those who don't know them, they probably seem interchangeable: friendly, popular, mischievous, and likeable. Those who know them well could tell you Liam is the instigator, the planner, the less sensitive and more open twin, but even then, their differences compliment one another and make them the perfect team.
History:
Calum Elkins and Josephine Treharne had a perfect, cliche romance. They were in the same year at Hogwarts, but only became close and started dating in their seventh year. The pair were captains of opposing Quidditch teams (Calum for Gryffindor, Josephine for Ravenclaw), but they didn't let it get in the way of their relationship. Little could have, they were so wrapped up in one another. They were married soon after Hogwarts, and a year after graduation, Josephine was pregnant with their first child, Caroline. Three years after Caroline was born came the twins, and two years after them came their little sister Morgan. To support their large family, Calum is a Healer, and Josephine plays professional Quidditch.
As babies, the twins were a handful, just as they are now. Though they were generally happy children, Liam and Graham were intelligent and curious, always getting into everything and turning up in strange places. They all but required parental supervision at all times, lest they burn the house down by accident. The twins showed their first sign of magic on the same day, when they were six years old. Some muggle boys in their neighbourhood were picking on their four year old sister, playing a game of keep-away with her stuffed bear, and suddenly the boys were all in bear costumes, in the highest branches of a tree. Because the children were muggles, and Josephine's storied Quidditch career made the family semi-famous, the incident made a small article in the Prophet.
Since that day, the twins eagerly awaited their eleventh birthdays for their Hogwarts letters. Caroline had been sorted into Ravenclaw by the time they arrived, and on the ride there, the two discussed the houses. They knew that unlike their studious sister, they weren't meant for Ravenclaw, and that Slytherin was right out. Hufflepuff would be good, and so would Gryffindor. Graham was sorted first, into Hufflepuff, but when it was Liam's turn, the Hat seemed to lean towards putting him in Gryffindor because of his bravery. Liam begged the Hat to put him in Hufflepuff with his brother, and seeing this display of loyalty, the Hat agreed.
In Hufflepuff, Liam and Graham shone. They made friends with nearly everyone in their house and half the people in the other houses too, for that matter. Unless you had no sense of humour, it was hard to dislike the twins, except around exam time. The cozy yellow Badger's den was the perfect place for the pair of them, who had as much loyalty and work ethic as any Hufflepuff under the playful exterior.
Both twins did well on their OWLs, and Liam chose his NEWT coursework with a career of working with dragons in mind. Curse-breaking is his backup plan. Both careers are dangerous, high-risk, and extremely exciting, just how Liam likes it. For his sixth year, he's looking forward to taking risks and pulling pranks with Graham at his side, just like always.
