Jaded of Vision Lift my vision from the ground lift it to the sky Skies they used to be so ugly rain that stings my face Opens up their glory just earth and sky and space And your passionate embraces absolve me of my sin Your life lifts me up so I can see See the sky again And I've lived through all the flash-fire set off like lightning spark Yes they burn so brightly and oh they burn so hot And these fantasies of all our love tearing at the ground Wrapped up in the vortex of sweat and sex and sound And your passionate embraces absolve me of my sin Your life lifts me up so I can see, see the sky again PERSONALITY The best word to really sum Peter up is "lovely". He would do whatever he could for absolutely anyone. He just wants to make people happy in whatever ways he can. Some of that is due to the fact that his father showed very little interest in him that wasn't pretty horrible, so he is eager to please. Peter can lose himself in a project, which can be problematic at times. He can find himself reading research for eighteen hours before he realises he should probably eat something. He has an inability to focus on more than one thing at once. There's a real sadness in Peter, which is understandable since he lost almost everyone significant in his life in pretty terrible ways, and ended up in a hospital declared mentally ill when there was nothing actually wrong with him. He clings to his friends like a life-line because he fears losing them too. He never wants to be alone again because he remembers how it feels and it's terrible. He has the ability to brood for days on end, even though he tries to keep it to himself. Because of his strict upbringing, he is overly polite and he panics if he thinks he has come off as rude. He tries very hard to keep people happy because happy people are safe people. HISTORY Peters life was pretty much messed up before he was ever born. His father Carl had married a much younger woman (thirty years difference between them) and so he was fifty by the time Peter was born. Unfortunately his mother died during childbirth which left Carl alone with a child and no idea what to do with one. Peter's upbringing was strict, as his father A CEO for a large and successful company, thought of Peter like a co-worker. To the point where he wasn't allowed to speak during meals. If Peter got dirty he was punished. If he fell over while playing, he was punished. His father was always an imposing figure in Peter's life. Carl saw Peter as weak and often refereed to him as a pansy or a sissy. That didn't help Peter be more assertive, strangely enough. In fact, he pretty much kept to himself at home and at school and said very little out loud. He read and that was about it. The only time he ever came out of his shell was when he was around his cousin William's family. He was one year younger than Anna Kemp and spent a lot of time with Anna, Thomas and Charlotte as kids. He was actually allowed to act like a child around them and even though he was the most polite child ever, he still let loose a little bit and enjoyed himself. When Peter was 15, his father left a work party both drunk and high. Carl was the sort who believed himself to be immortal and as such, he decided to drive home. As he did so, he got into an accident and killed a family of four while he escaped with nary a scratch. Carl wasn't actually upset he killed people, he was more upset that the scandal would mean his job, and two nights later he took his own life by locking himself in the library at home and falling on an antique sword from his collection. Peter was the one to find him. Being parentless and not of age to receive his trust fund, Peter was allowed to move into his boarding school as a year-round student. The school was run by the Catholic church and Peter got very into the religion and pomp of it all. Living on campus meant he spent less and less time with his cousin's family, though at least not living with his father meant he could stretch his legs a little. He still spent holidays with the extended Kemps until Thomas' wild ways led to him becoming a father at 16. By then Peter was in his senior year and he had already decided to go into the clergy. While at seminary, Peter was paired up with a mentor named Stuart McGarvey who was a year ahead of him. Stuart had grown up poor and hated Peter on sight, at least at first. He was eventually won over by the fact that Peter was innocent and kind of adorable. The pair became fast friends despite the fact that Stuart was kind of a trouble maker (for a priest in training) and Peter was essentially a rule-follower. After Stuart finished seminary and in his first year as a junior priest, he took Peter on as an assistant for Peter's final year of study. Stuart had always had an interest in the darker side of their faith and was trained in the art of exorcism by their parish priest. The man believed that possession was a psychological disorder, but some people simply wouldn't accept modern medicine to help, and so an exorcism was more like a placebo. If you believed you were being exorcised, the problems would end. Stuart and Peter were too young to really know the dangers of what they were being taught. All their exorcisms were unsanctioned, though they performed nearly a dozen of them in the city over the course of a year. Unfortunately, on one such exorcism, the pair encountered a real demon possession (I will leave the demon unnamed in case someone wants to pick up a demon and say it was them). They had no idea what to do in such a situation and Stuart ended up being thrown across the room, causing his neck to snap. During the police investigation, Peter was quite open about what he had seen, raving about demons and begging the police to believe him. Instead of being believed, he was held as a suspect in a hospital for the mentally ill. Though eventually cleared of the crime, his insistence that 'demons did it' meant he was not released from the hospital, instead being treated for schitzophrenia. And there he has been for almost twenty years. Peter has accepted that he will be a long-term denizen of the hospital and he was done very well there. He used his time to study part-time and from afar. He got a bachelor's degree in archeology and a masters in religion and ancient cultures. He studied languages and can read Hebrew, Latin and even some Aramaic. If he can't go anywhere, he might as well get stuff done. He hopes that one day they'll realise he's mot actually crazy, but unfortunately "I was only faking I take it all back" hasn't worked out so well. | ![]() PETER see the sky again FULL NAME: Peter Gabriel Kemp NICKNAMES: Do not call him Petey CURRENT AGE: 38 DATE OF BIRTH: August 9th, 1977 PLACE OF BIRTH: NYC ![]() MARITAL STATUS: Single SEXUALITY: Bisexual OCCUPATION: NA CURRENT RESIDENCE: NYC ![]() PARENTS: Carl Kemp and Louise Kemp nee Whitney SIBLINGS: NA FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS: Allllll the Kemps ![]() • Smokes like a chimney • Keeps journals of everything and has for years (that doesn't help the staff think he's sane) • Loves the colour teal • Has a gorgeous singing voice in deep baritone • But can speak German fluently, as well as reading Hebrew, Latin, Greek and a bit of Aramaic • Really loves the band Dream Theater NAME: Lara AIM: darker_artemis PB: Dylan Moran |
