SHOCK [ YOUR INFO ] Name: Mel Age: 19 E-mail: darkness_embraced@msn.com AIM: Octothingy Timezone: EST PB: Danny Dyer
[ CHARACTER INFO ] Birth Name: Alexander O’Toole Nicknames: Alex Codename: Shock Age: 23 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Mutant Abilities: Shock is a physical conduit between electricity and any liquid substance. Though he constantly has electricity running through his body, unconsciously gathered from the environment around him, he can only send it from his body when there is a positive liquid reactor around him. Water is the strongest conduct he is able to work with, but he can also produce smaller, less powerful shocks of electricity through blood or other liquids. Upon an overload of electricity and water, it is possible for Shock to send his electric currents out from his entire body, but he has managed to advance his control to the use of his fingers for sending out his shocks. His powers can also range from a minor static shock, sending out small, short bits of electricity through his fingers, to massive volts of electricity that will electrocute and possibly even burn the subject. Unfortunately, Shock’s powers can also work against him. Should he expose himself to too much water or build up too much of an electric current, he can subject himself to the same volts of electrocution as his subject. Each time he uses his power, he is also subjected to small shocks of electricity, though over time, he has gotten used to it. Affiliation: Brotherhood

[ ETC ] Personal History: Born and raised one of the worst neighborhoods in the Bronx, Alex has never even tasted the life of privilege. His parents were poor and found it hard enough to scrape together money for rent, let alone for clothes and food. Welfare was not foreign to them and though it was easier when Alex was just a baby, his parents managing to get enough money for the three of them to survive on the meager wages both of them were making, when Alex’s mother became pregnant with what would soon be his little brother, things began to get even more difficult.
With another child in the house, money began to grow very thin and there would be many nights that both Alex and his brother would go hungry. Unfortunately, that would be about the time when, instead of saving their money, Alex’s father spent it on alcohol and gambling. Practically drinking them out of house and home, Alex was pressure by his mother to help support their family and he eventually dropped out of high school after his sophomore year to get a job.
Unfortunately, Alex’s skills were limited and being so young, it wasn’t easy for him to get even a minimum wage paying job. However, it didn’t take Alex long to realize that taking things for his family was much easier than working for them and by the time he was sixteen, Alex was stealing everything from food to articles of clothing for him and his brother. Moving from minimal thefts quickly onto full on robbery, it was only a matter of time before Alex was caught, despite how good he had become. Holding up a liquor store, the police had been inconveniently nearby and tried to arrest him.
As Alex was running from the police, rain pouring down around him, it was then that his mutant powers manifested and with fear and adrenaline running high, Alex tripped in a pothole filled with water and became a human lightning rod for all the electricity that was running through the city in a five mile radius. Electrocuting the police that had been chasing him, the electricity had shot out from his body at such an extreme level that it blacked out half the city. Unfortunately, the current was so strong that it set fire to Alex’s pants, burning him even as the electricity still poured from his body.
Only when he finally passed out from the strain, did the electric currents stop and allow someone to put out the flames on the boy. Though he was still arrested, Alex was sent to the hospital. Unfortunately, with no insurance and money to pay for hospital bills, there was little they could do for him other than give him pain medication and let him heal to the best of his ability. Alex would forever have horrible scar tissue along his legs, but he was lucky enough that the fire had no spread more than it did.
Due to his young age, Alex was sentenced to a year in juvenile hall. When he was finally let out, scarred and confused and forever branded a mutant, Alex’s family was nowhere to be found. Someone else owned the apartment they had lived in and Alex found no trace of them or had any idea where they might be. Living on his own, Alex began to steal again, but kept it under the radar. He managed to get by through hanging with a number of gangs, finding solace in other groups of mutants that were just as dangerous and unaffected by rules as he was, gradually learning to control his powers through practice and time. It was then that Alex began to take on the name Shock, easily holding his weight when it came to fighting for survival. Eventually, Alex came across a gang that seemed to be a bit more serious about their mutations and found a new home with the Brotherhood.
It wasn’t long after joining this new group and firmly planting himself in the “war” against humans, that the whole world went to shit and left Alex depending on the other mutants and the X-Men to keep him alive.
Extra: OC PB Image Link:http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x115/littlekelly123/DannyDyer.jpg Role Play Sample: Every single time that Alex's feet hit the pavement, he could feel his teeth rattling in his mouth. He had never run this hard or fast before and with every shout from the police men behind him, Alex thought his heart would burst from his chest. This was really it. He'd been pressing his luck way too much for the past few weeks and it was finally coming back to bite him in the ass. Alex knew that he shouldn't have held up this place tonight. He'd been feeling it all day. That fucked up sense of dread that ate away at his stomach.
He'd never been one for superstitions or crazy hocus pocus bullshit, but he'd had a bad feeling all day. Like the ground was about to drop out from under him. It felt like the end of the world was waiting for him every time he turned the corner, even though he kept telling himself it wouldn't. The timing was shit though and they needed the money for rent. He knew that he could be an asshole about a lot of things, but it took a real heartless douche to watch your younger brother eat rotten food and not do anything about it.
So he'd held up the liquor store and paid the price he'd been always afraid of. Now he was running down the street, the bag of money still clenched in his hand as the police chased him down. He knew he was going to get caught. Sure, he was a fast kid, but he wasn't that fast and he was quickly getting tired. Alex's teeth clenched as he ran down a one-way street, empty except for an old man sitting on the stoop at the end of the block. It had been raining when he'd left his house that day, but now it was pouring and as he ran down the street, the cops coming up closer behind him, certain they were just going to shoot him at any moment, Alex finally felt the ground drop out from beneath him.
It was like having his skin flayed off of his muscles and bones. As his foot dropped into the water filled puddle, Alex felt the electricity from the storm literally sink into his skin and explode from every pore. He couldn't do anything but scream, the pain overwhelming, feeling as if his entire body were on fire. He couldn't see or hear anything, which was odd because his knew his mouth was open. There was no time for fear. No time for confusion or explanations. There was simply excruciating, barbaric pain throughout his body until finally, it simply stopped.
With the smell of ozone, iron and burning flesh filling his nostrils, Alex watched as the ground came up to meet him and everything around him went very still and very dark.
