Character Information Full Name: Stephen Garreth Cornfoot Nickname: A couple people might call him Steve, but nothing unusual. Birthdate: 19 October, 1979 Bloodline: Pureblood Wand: Oak and Phoenix Feather, 11 inches Pets: A Barn Owl, named Archimedes.
Allegiance: None, at the moment. Opinion on war: Stephen thinks the whole thing is a mess and incredibly complicated. Muggleborns are at an extreme disadvantage upon entering the Wizarding World, though this isn't really reason enough to toss ten thousand years of tradition and heritage out the window, or persecuting, imprisoning, and killing people. Over those last ten thousand years, tens of thousands of Muggleborns have managed to assimilate themselves with magical culture, bringing some of the better inventions and ideas from their own and sacrificing others that could not mesh as well. Keep to the status quo, would be Stephen's thoughts.
Classes:
Monday: History of Magic, Herbology, DADA
Tuesday: Charms
Wednesday: Transfiguration, Runes, Potions
Thursday: History of Magic
Friday: Muggle Studies
Extracurricular: Officially, just Quidditch. Last year he organized just under a dozen after-curfew Snap Sevens (basically a wizarding poker) games in empty classrooms. Best Class: Potions Worst Class: History of Magic Study Habits: Determined to live up to the rest of his house and his parents' expectations, Stephen is at times fanatical about studying, especially when it comes to subjects that he lacks a natural aptitude for. While he loves goofing off and hanging out and doing nothing, he sets aside specific study hours that he doesn't like to tamper with unless it's for a really good reason.
Appearance: Stephen is about average height and has a lithe build, shaggy brown hair and grey eyes. He has a nice smile, a penchant for not shaving quite as often as most Professors would like, and a love for all varieties of hats. Like most 17 or 18 year old boys, he's not one to spend a lot of time on his appearance, though he is at least always completely clean. In the past he's been a little lax about the uniform and mostly not had a problem if he happened to "forget" his tie some days, or carried his robes around in his bag, but I imagine this will have to start to shape up as the year wears on.
Personality: A paradox unto himself, Stephen is a hardworking goof off. He always wants to have a good time in life, likes to crack jokes, play jokes, play games, and spend time with his friends. Quidditch is brilliant as it affords him an opportunity to combine both sides of his nature, even if it can be a bit competitive at times for someone so laid back. He is good natured, well meaning, and not quick to anger, though if pushed as far, he is not one to forgive and forget. While he may not always give rules his undivided attention, he never goes so far as to do anything dangerous or deeply immoral, and when he does tweak them to suit his needs, it's all in the name of a good time. Goals: Stephen wants to be a Healer, plain and simple. It's ambitious, it's challenging, it's rewarding, and he thinks it will afford him the chance to do something that's actively good in his life, as well as an admittedly larger-than-average wage. His family wants him to become a magical historian or linguist, and write books. Special: He is a fair chaser, though not of professional caliber, has awesome organizational skills, and has a quick ear for languages. Sexuality: Heterosexual
Family: The Cornfoots hail from Edinburgh, Scotland, and almost always have since the 7th century. They own Pagebound, the bookshop in Roundley Corner, the wizarding district of Edinburgh. It is considerably smaller than Flourish & Blotts, and features novels, history, and quite a lot of foreign works, though it does usually carry a small selection of popular literature as well. They have four children, and are for the most part a normal and happy family.
History: From the time he made his way into this world, Stephen has been on a mission to enjoy it. He was the sort of child who built forts on the rooftop, loved to go flying in the park, eat ice creams until he was sick, and try to convince his sisters that mud pies were truly made of chocolate. Once he was old enough, Stephen joined his brother in their father's footsteps through Ravenclaw, and while he got along with most all of his housemates and students from other houses as well, Rob was Stephen's best friend in school. He was the one who taught Stephen chess, convinced to go out for the open Chaser's spot in his fourth year, and tutored him in schoolwork along with the ways of women, and general life. While sometimes he did feel as though he were playing second fiddle to Robert's natural popularity, Stephen also just genuinely enjoyed serious studying, and did mostly well in his OWLs, though he was lucky that History of Magic needed only an A to pass. In his sixth year, with Robert gone and for once, Hogwarts seemingly free of all the usual bollocks Harry Potter seemed to bring, Stephen stepped into his brother's shoes and took on the job of finding a way to organize card games for a small group of upper-year boys. He started dating Natalie Fairbourne, and was feeling up to doing well even in History of Magic's exams, until Dumbledore's death. He's only now really starting to grasp that things are starting to change for everyone, not just Potter, and as the year goes on will have to figure out where he stands, what he's willing to do, and what he's willing to give up in order to keep some semblance of normalcy about himself.
Miscellaneous Plot Goals: I'd really like for him to at some point get in trouble for a Snap Sevens game if there are other players who would like to join in this plot as well. I think by the final battle he would surely stick around and fight, though I'm not sure he'd be a part of DA, simply because I think a lot of people will probably be recruited and you'll need a few who don't go that way? If it can be afforded, I'm also open to him joining, in hopes of a proper chance at learning what Amycus will not be providing in DADA. Journal: stephen_ PB: Patrick Fugit Sample Thread:Susan & Ginny!
