Full Name: Caer Brexom Kovalenko
Any Nicknames: Cae (pronounced Ky like in Kyle)
Blood Status: Pureblood
Present Age and Birthdate: 30 | 24 March 2000
School Attended: Durmstrang
Years Attended: 2011-2018
School Accomplishments: Quidditch Chaser
PB: Chris Evans | Alternative: Cam Gigandet
PERSONAL DETAILS

Occupation: Professional Dragon Rider | Trainer |Co-Owner of the Dragon Riding Circuit
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Marital Status: Married to Anya Bielski Kovalenko
Inclination to join the Program: Yes. He is already married so it would be nice to have the benefits offered just because he was lucky enough to find a woman he loves and wants to spend his life with...if she'll have him back, that is.
Will your character come into the game with any pre-existing complications? Caer does not have any medical complications - he went to a doctor to find out about two years ago. He is certain that the trouble he had conceiving with Anya had to do with stress for both of them more than anything.
If married with children, would they be willing to counsel others? As much as Caer would love to help others, he needs to first sort out his own personal life. Then he may give counseling more thought.
PERSONALITY

Positive Traits: Loyal, Dedicated, Determined, Intuitive, Resilient, Charismatic
Negative Traits: Impulsive, Rash, Withdrawn, Restless, Impatient, and sometimes Reckless
Caer is not the kind of guy who thinks before he acts, and that's his greatest fault. He's been known to say something and wish he hadn't. Even thrown a punch or two that he should have pulled, but he's been working on this for years. His impulsivity is less prominent now at his age, but still something he struggles with from time to time. Caer cares deeply for his friends and family so at least he's got that going for him. Emotionally he is impeccably stable. Despite the loss of his closest cousin in front of his own eyes at a young age, watching the slow deterioration of his mother, and the loss of his father which left him as the primary guardian of his younger twin sisters, Caer still seems to be a realist. Most people would have turned pessimist a long time ago, but he sees no need or use for pessimism. That can only bring people down, and others will follow. It's a terrible cycle he does not wish to be a part of.

Caer has never really seen things as strictly black or white. Most things fall within a grey area. He has an impulse to do what he thinks is right, though that might not be what is morally accepted as the right course of action. He holds no prejudice toward people of lower classes, does not utter the word mudblood, and finds no problem with Muggles at all. Everyone has their purpose in the world, and Caer believes that it is ones own responsibility to make their own path.

Caer is a natural athlete though neither of his parents were. He loves to fly and so being a dragon rider/trainer was a natural job for him after completing his schooling. He didn’t really have it easy when he was in school. Caer always had to work hard to keep his grades up, and other than Dark Arts and Charms he has never excelled in any area. These two subjects took hard work and dedication to master but he got there eventually. These qualities were imbued in him by his parents. His family was always a close knit group, even the extended bits. He has extreme loyalty to those he is close to. Caer is a natural at one other thing: Leading. Though, despite a keen sense of purpose and trustworthy countenance, Cae never really took to this. He did not become a captain of any sport, nor had he ever considered being a prefect. He always thought that his impulses made him a bad choice to lead anyone. He's more likely to lead you into a fight than to figure out a way around it. He thinks that a leader should look for the second way out rather than the first. Over the years after completing school, however, Caer often found himself in a lead position. Running the circuit in Ireland meant there was a lot on his shoulders.

Caer is by no means a bully or fighter. He was notorious for liking duels at Durmstrang, mostly because he liked the challenge, and if you mess with someone close to him than you better dodge the punch that is probably headed your way, but Caer isn't the type to go out looking for fights. He's docile until provoked. Caer is not a loner, but he is in no way a social butterfly either. He falls somewhere in between - like those grey areas he sees in most of his world. He won't go out of his way to be friends with someone unless they intrigue him. Friendship, Cae believes, is like a tug of war; Both sides have to be putting in the same amount of effort to hold the balance.

Caer can be withdrawn in the way that he won’t always tell you what he is feeling. He tends to internalize his problems. He doesn’t shy away from talking about things by any means, but he won’t always bring people into his problems. He believes that his problems are just that: his. Why bring anyone else down. There are exceptions, of course. He can’t keep everything from certain people in his life. They would know when something is wrong and Caer does not like to lie. Caer gets anxious though people will rarely see this trait shown in his countenance. The most obvious show that something is wrong with Caer is when he paces. If he is anxious, restless, nervous, or feeling uncomfortable about something you will see him pace. This has been a long standing habit for him.

Primary Motivators: Adventure, Domesticity, Honor, Recognition
Domesticity: The most important thing to Caer is family. He would do anything for them. He would die to protect them. That is just the way he is. Caer considers his closest friends to be an extension of his family. Caer was very fortunate: He was born into two merged, wealthy families. Caer never wanted for anything as far as material possessions were concerned, but Caer never put much worth into those kinds of things. He is thankful for the roof over his head and the food on his plate, but he would be just as happy living in a small shack as he is in his large manor as long as his family is around him. Caer wants to have children. Raising his sisters made him even more paternal than he had been when he was younger. Having always been associated with the label protector by his family and friends Caer was used to standing up for his people. Caer would get into fights over protecting his friends and family, which showed his loyalty, but also his impulsive nature, a trait that often falls to the negative.

Adventure: Caer is all about discovery, new experiences, and a little bit of danger. Why do you think he works with dragons? He knows all too well that at any moment your life could be over, so why not live it to its fullest every moment of every day.

Honor: If Caer had attended Hogwarts for school he most likely would have been in Gryffindor. He is inherently brave and stands up for the little guy. Caer dislikes lying, and if he is loath to do so unless lying to someone means that he will be protecting them. This is the only grey area in deceit. His generosity has never been overlooked. At nineteen he was the guardian of his twin sisters, he offered his home to friends in times of need, he never looked down on someone because of blood status or who their family was despite the high standing of both of his parents’ families. Caer wants to make sure his family’s name does not get tarnished, especially not of his own doing.

Recognition: This may seem self-absorbed but Caer does want to make a good name for himself; However in his mind he is making a good name for his family. He wishes the best for his family always, and – as stated in the honor section – he would never wish to tarnish the family name. Success for him means success for his family, and pride which is a good thing as far as Caer is concerned. He wishes more for the success and recognition of others than for himself, however. Caer wants to do well with the Dragon Riding Circuit because it would reflect well on his uncle Pasha, whose dream made it possible. He wants Anya to get all the recognition she deserves in the Quidditch league because he believes she is an amazing player whom is dedicated to her sport. Caer wishes for success for his twin

Caer keeps in touch with all of his family members. He is closest with his maternal grandparents, Uncle Pasha, and cousins Hanna Soberov and Bastian Kovalenko. Obviously Caer is close with his sisters Mira and Ziva; he practically raised them with help from his maternal grandparents. Mira and Ziva moved into their grandparents’ estate in Ireland at the age of six. Eara was too sick to care for her children and Kirill was too distraught to be a father as he watched the love of his life slip away. Eara died from cancer, and Kirill died from what can only be described as a broken heart. Caer was lucky to have no family pass away from the virus.

Childhood | Schooling

Eara Moriarty was a fortunate young witch. Her family had more money in Gringotts than twenty generations could use and Ministry connections that afforded her every opportunity in the world. She saw numerous countries on holidays in her young life. Pure blood families like hers were hard to come by those days. During the first and second rise and fall of Voldemort no one was able to pin any crimes on the Moriarty clan – not to say they didn’t try – and speculation of their involvement quickly dissipated. Even Eara could not say one way or another if her family was involved – but she didn’t care. She was far too young to care.

Eara was fortunate enough to be an only child – having free run of her family estate secluded in Ireland. When her letter from Hogwarts arrived on her eleventh birthday she quickly shared it with her parents – but the Moriarty’s had their own plans for their daughter. Her father was a Hogwarts alumnus, but her mother had proudly called Durmstrang his home. Despite living in Ireland, her mother made just one call. When she stepped back out of their library fireplace she held an official looking letter addressed to her daughter. Eara happily took it and spent her time learning at Durmstrang.

That is where she first met Kirill. Kirill was in his third year when Eara came to Durmstrang but a family connection fated that they should meet. Over the years they became closer, finding that their families had similar interests in life. Her father’s work with the Ministry put him in contact with witches and wizards worldwide – and Kirill’s family was one of such cases. His family owned substantial property in Russia as well as his family home in the Ukraine. This wealthy show of capital was naturally a good selling point on the boy as far as the Moriarty’s were concerned and they pushed their daughter ever so slightly into developing that contact.

The two young people grew in their attachments to one another and, after graduating from Durmstrang, Kirill found himself longing to see Eara again when the next school term began. He visited whenever he could, and two short years later she was a graduate herself. A year after that they were wed; And the year after that the couple welcomed their son into this world. It was understood that he would go to Durmstrang when he was old enough – despite where they may be living at the time. Kirill granted his wife the request to name their son with an old family name (as had been done in her family for centuries) with the promise that the next child they had would be his to name whatever he wished. And so Caer Brexom Kovalenko was born.

Over the years the family of three had existed in perfect love and harmony. Their son grew into a healthy boy with a passion for athleticism, something neither parent had expected based on their own personal history. Caer had a natural athletic talent. His grandmother Vleska Kovalenko used to tell him stories about his father tripping over air quite often as a child. His mother, while an accomplished equestrian, knew little about sport. With no siblings of his own Caer was more than happy to learn how to fly alongside his three cousins.

His father was the second eldest child of five – two younger brothers followed by one sister, and his older sister lead the pack. This meant Caer had a fair chance at having siblings. His Aunt Maja was three years older than her brother Kirill so she had already had one child by the time Eara became pregnant. Maja was pregnant again a few months later, and Caer was born four months before his second cousin, Tiev. Hanna, Maja’s first born, was nine and already a proficient flyer when she was instructed to teach her brother and two younger cousins how to fly as well. Caer and Tiev were both seven at the time, and Ilka, daughter to Caer’s Uncle Milos, had just turned six. Learning how to fly was not an easy task. Caer struggled at first, Hanna giving encouragement with a strong hand, but little put the young boy at ease. The turning point, however, emerged the first time Caer was able to raise over the tree tops. Seeing the world for the first time from that height – uninhibited by the glass of a window on a building or plane – that was the last piece Caer needed to take to the sky without fear or apprehension.

Caer was closest with his cousin Tiev, not just because of the tiny age gap that separated them, but also because they were the first two Kovalenko boys born into the family. A certain responsibility came with that, though the boys just wanted to live out their lives in blissful happiness. They would adventure through the wilderness together, Hanna along for ‘supervision’ but really she wanted as much freedom as the two of them had. The three children grew to love one another more like siblings than cousins, and it was fine all around. Tiev and Caer went off to Durmstrang with equal anticipation and ambition. While Caer took to sport and dueling, Tiev took to studies and chess. The two foiled one another perfectly, but never lost their brotherly bond.

In the summer before their third year disaster literally struck. The four cousins were playing out in a field when a terrible rainstorm began overhead. The girls ran toward the summer home but Caer and Tiev both felt bold, and just as Hanna turned back to yell for them to come inside Tiev was struck by a bolt of lightning. Caer was thrown off his feet and landed in the heap at the base of a tree. He woke up two days later in a wizarding hospital with his youngest Aunt Dinara at his side. She held his hand and when Caer asked about Tiev she cried. He knew that Tiev was dead, and he cried as well. Hanna spent what should have been her fifth year at Durmstrang at another institution instead. The shock of her brother’s death was too much for her to take. Caer started that semester late but he managed to overcome this tragedy better than most expected considering their close attachment to one another. Caer still has two scars – one on the left side of his ribcage, and the other on his left calf – from the current that coursed through his body. The doctors told him they could get rid of the scars but he refused. He would carry Tiev around with him in those scars; especially the one that ran passed his heart. That year the fear and pain of the occurrence became clearer to his friends when he meet a boggart in his Dark Arts classroom. A ball of dark smoke swirled into a cloud as a thunderclap echoed through the room. A bolt of lightning struck the air and Caer quickly disarmed the creature – turning the next bolt into a string of spaghetti pasta falling limp to the floor. He had been expecting the change and was not prepared to let anyone else be hurt in that way because of his own fear.

Caer was in his first year at Durmstrang when he received the news that his father would finally be able to make good on that promise of naming his next child. His fortune doubled when they found out the pregnancy would result in twins, and so Mira and Ziva were born. The family was overjoyed and basked in this new found happiness. The happiness did not last as long as they all would have hoped, however. The summer before Tiev’s death brought bad news in another form. Eara was sick. She was sick often and violently. Caer was not brought in on this news being away at school until he was home for summer holidays. That is when his father told him the truth. His mother had developed cancer – but even the Medi-Witches and Wizards had yet to discover a cure.

Over the years Eara was put through one treatment after another to no avail. Some helped her get better, but most just made the sickness feel worse. After three years of treatment Eara decided she was done trying to get rid of the disease. She was tired of spending the majority of her time away from home and her family. It was time that she fight the disease on her own. She may feel terrible, but the symptoms were much less violent when she was not going through the treatments to rid her of the cancer.

In Caer’s final year of school his mother had been fighting for two years on her own and she was slowly fading away. His father became more and more distant – throwing himself into his work as if it were necessary but Caer knew he was doing it to escape the trauma of watching the woman he loved wither away. His sweet little sisters spent more time with their grandparents in Ireland than they did at home with their father.

Before Anya, Caer had been stuck in a terrible relationship. For nearly two years he had been dating a girl he thought was someone he could love, but it was a blind attraction. She was a bitch, and she proved that in the end. No matter how much his friends tried to tell him the relationship was toxic Cae couldn’t see it until she finally made a comment about his sick mother just after summer holidays in their sixth year. That one statement broke whatever charm she held over him. She was shunned and his friends were quick to accept his apology. The rest of the year Caer spent throwing himself into his training and studies to block out her existence. By his seventh year Ava was just a name he heard in passing. This was also the year that Caer realized that he had been overlooking one very important person in his life: Anya Bielski. She had been a friend for quite some time, but Caer never thought of her in a way that was more than that because he was blinded by Ava for two formative years. Anya was in her sixth year at Durmstrang at the time. Caer was amazed by her aggression and agility on the pitch, despite her petite size. If he was being completely honest this was the initial thing that enticed him. However Caer found that she was the best person to talk to on any issue, and quickly found that he spent more time with her than anyone else. Over the first few months of his final school year the friendship grew and the attraction blossomed. Anya’s kind nature was intriguing, and he knew that what had happened with Ava and the comment about his mother would never happen with Anya.

As a friendly gesture Caer invited Anya to spend the winter holidays with him at his grandparents’ estate in Ireland. His twin sisters, Mira and Ziva, who were six at the time, quickly fell in love with her as did his grandparents, especially his grandmother. She would constantly ask when he intended to ask this “lovely girl” on a date. He disregarded this statement over and over again, but not long after returning to school Caer took his grandmother’s advice. Anya made Caer happy in a way that no one else in the World could. She was with him when he lost his mother that Spring, and when he lost his father the following year. Anya became a staple of his life, and things were great for a while. The stress of living such public, separate lives caused some strain however.

Post-Schooling | Exile

After leaving Durmstrang Caer joined his Uncle Pasha in a business venture that had proved lucrative over the years. Pasha, with a couple of friends, founded the Dragon Riding Circuit at the age of 28. Pasha has been working on building the circuit over the years and by the time Caer was about to graduate from Durmstrang he had purchased a large plot of land in Ireland to start expanding the Circuit to the U.K. considering the popularity of it in Russia and Eastern Europe. Caer accepted the task and built a dragon training center and Circuit official stadium for competitions. For the first year Caer raised dragons and barely got to fly. It was more of a training facility as he got it on its feet. By the time Anya finished her last year at school Caer was just opening the training center for outsiders to apply to train with him at the Stadium.

The training center was only open for a year when the virus struck. Caer, Anya, Mira & Ziva, and Caer’s maternal grandparents were all in Ireland when the virus spread, but luckily they were able to retreat to the Kovalenko Manor in Russia. Caer had inherited the Manor from his father when he passed, but Caer barely used it since his father’s passing. He kept it in good shape and paid to have people clean the house and tend to the grounds so it would not get unruly should he wish to visit. Fortunately it was habitable for the family when the virus hit and the Kovalenko clan was not put out by this occurrence. Mira and Ziva were still one year away from attending school but both girls were always planning on going to Durmstrang as the family had so this did not alter their plans.

As a young man Caer found himself in a fathering role. He became the sole guardian of his seven-year-old twin sisters at the age of nineteen. Luckily Caer had the support of his maternal grandparents still to help raise the girls, but by all legal rights they were his wards. He loved those girls more than anything in the world, but trying to raise them was just one more thing to add to his plate. He had to close up the Irish Circuit training center and went to work with his uncle Pasha in one of the Russian Circuit stadiums outside Moscow. He migrated all of the dragons over to the Moscow Arena - much to their dismay – and had to acclimate them to the new space and other tenants, which took a lot of time and patience.
All in all Caer considered himself lucky. He wasn’t moving off to a country he knew nothing about. He was moving home, unlike many people who were displaced out of the United Kingdom.

The first years back in Russia were amazing. Caer worked a lot but he always had time for Anya and his sisters. The family was happy, and Caer was blissfully happy in his marriage. Truth be told he was nervous when he finally asked Anya to marry him. It's not that he thought she would say no because she didn't love him, it was just a big time in both of their lives, and with all that they had going on he was unsure she would want to go into such an endeavor. The years went by, Caer trained more dragons, raising them from egg to adult, and traveled the world competing on the Circuit. About five years into their marriage Caer took on more responsibilty and spent more time traveling on the Circuit. Competing, recruiting, training, acquiring new dragons - he knew he was away from home too much, but his Uncle was depending on him. The last thing Caer wanted was to let his family down, but while he was busy keeping one member happy he felt he was losing another.

Caer thought about leaving the Circuit many times. He wanted to settle down and have kids with Anya, but he had a hard time bringing up that subject. At first Caer did not want to suggest it because of Anya's career. Unlike himself, Anya would have to leave the sport of quidditch for a while if she got pregnant. He did not want to ask her to give up something she loved for any amount of time. Eventually they did try for a bit, but both lead very stressful lives. Caer was busy trying to put Mira and Ziva through school, managing the Moscow Arena, handling finances and acquisitions for the other arenas, riding, training, and competing himself, and still trying to hold his marriage together. It came to a point where Anya suggested a separation, and Caer - thinking that this was what would make his wife happiest - accepted it. He never wanted a separation, but he agreed because he thought she wanted it and all Caer wanted was to make Anya happy.

After the two were separated Caer never lost tabs on Anya. He would apparate into her life, though he would stay hidden from her view. He watched from a distance, making sure she was doing well. Every time he saw her she looked good - healthy, and beautiful as always. He hoped she was happy. Occasionally he heard things from his sisters about how Anya was doing as they tried to keep in touch. They were still her family, as far as he was concerned, and the girls felt the same way.

When the U.K. started accepting people back in his grandparents were only too happy to have the chance to return to their manor in Ireland. Caer did not return immediately. He first waited to see what Anya would do. He didn't know if she would return, and while he knew his sisters wanted to go back to the U.K. and he should go back to the stadium he had built there he still waited. Anya would be the deciding factor in this matter. When he realized how much he thought on this and how much she still dictated his decisions Caer knew it was time for him to take action. He had been sitting in the shadows for far too long, watching the woman he loved live her life without him. When she chose to go back to the U.K. and he heard about the program Caer knew this was the moment to act...and that is how his life has been up to this point.

PLOT

- Obviously Caer wants to mend his relationship with his wife, Anya.
- I'd love for him to have previously existing friends - People he went to Durmstrang with, people he knew through his family connections (his family was big in society [maternal grandparents often through parties for their friends] and international relations [mostly through his father's connections]), other people he may have met in the U.K. and elsewhere after schooling had finished. I'm open for anything.
- Caer is friendly and charming, so new friends for him would be great.
- As I said, I'm open for anything so toss me a line! If I don't think it would fit Caer I'd tell you.
- Eventually hoping to get someone/people to pick up family members, but I'll add that to the wanted page.
- These are the family members I am willing to part with for your plotting pleasure: His paternal Grandmother Vleska Kovalenko, Aunt Berendine Kovalenko, Uncle Sergei Garin, and cousin Ilka Kovalenko.

- I think Caer would be a good candidate for the Uprising. He is fiercly loyal, and someone who will stop at nothing to protect those he cares about. He is very much a man who wants to protect the uncorrupted and preserve innocence. His rash nature would be something fun to play with in this manner, and while he knows how to take orders I could see himself getting into trouble here and there thinking he is doing the right thing but really being stupid. He's not infallible, after all. Things that would make him beneficial...hmm...let's see...well he brings dragons to the table, what more could you want? Haha - seriously though, he's smart in strategic ways when he pauses to think. He's strong, loyal as I said, and I could see him as the stealthy type. He can fly, obviously, and would be good with recon and gathering intel - he's personable and charming when he wants to be, so he would stand a fair chance of getting information from people that they don't know they are giving. Personal opinion, I think this would be good for him. He would desperately want to do anything in his power to protect those he loves and this is a great way of doing that. It's also a good place to see his impulsive nature at work, whether for good or bad. He can follow orders or be a leader, so he's versatile. I love the idea of the vigilante squadron, basically, so I'm intrigued. Obviously it's up to you guys in the end to say whether or not he would be right for it.

SAMPLES

FIRST PERSON:

There's this old song - I don't know what it's called - but it goes "My bags are packed, I'm ready to go. I'm standing here outside your door..." American song, I think. Never did I feel a song fit my life so well as those lines right now. The manor looks bare with all these white sheets covering the furniture. I can't believe I'm going back to the UK. It's been so long. I feel my accent is probably thicker than before. I have spoken English quite a bit these past ten years, but not as much. I try to speak as many languages around the house so the girls would pick it up and practice. I think Mira knows five fluently now...Ziva only ever speaks three, but I'm sure she knows more. She told me the other day that she wants to go stay in France for a few years. French is her favorite language. Mira prefers Russian and English however, and for that reason I think Ziva put off her plans for moving to France. Makes me happy to know she won't be going to France, actually. Harder to keep tabs on twins when they are separated, and even harder yet when they are in another country. Grandmother and Grandfather have been back in Ireland for a couple months now. The manor is apparently still in good shape. They checked in on our house too....my house...Anya's house. It needed some dusting but no worse for wear according to them.

My bags feel too light - like I'm missing something. If I have to come back I will, but I think it's more of an empty feeling. I don't like moving, especially when I don't know where I'm going. I suppose I know for now. I'll stay with grandmother and grandfather at the estate in Ireland until I either find a flat in London or work things out with Anya. I'm hoping for the second one, personally.

THIRD PERSON: I feel this one is appropriate: Caer and Anya's first kiss.
