ANOTHER TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT?
By Finlay McIntyre, Int’l News Correspondent
The Triwizard Tournament does not have the best track record in the history of the wizarding world. Too many people have died and for that reason the Tournament was in fact ruled too dangerous and consequently outlawed for over a century. The last time the Tournament was attempted another casualty was again claimed, yet the Tournament lives again. How did it come to this?
Ministries throughout Europe have come together to meet for a summit on this issue. There were two approaches coming into this discussion: The First being the people who deemed the Tournament too dangerous based on the loss of young Cedric Diggory, a student of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who made up one half of the Champion duo for the school that year.
The other side argues that it was not the Tournament that killed Diggory, but Lord Voldemort, and in this statement they would be accurate. The members of the Ministries who stand behind this perspective say that the Tournament had nothing to do with the death of the boy. It was merely convenience that was offered in the final challenge of the Tournament that lead to the death of the student.
One member of the International summit who wishes to keep their identity a secret stated, "The Tournament provided opportunity for Voldemort to set a trap, but it was no danger caused by the Tournament itself that lead to the lamentable death of Cedric Diggory." The same source went on to describe the benefits of another Triwizard Tournament
taking place in a "time of peace". In reference to speculation of such a summit taking place this news reporter has received multiple letters of interest in the possible upcoming Tournament. A 75% majority of the letters show people in favor of doing the Tournament again, and a fair amount stated that they would be proud to let their own child put their name in the Goblet of Fire for a chance at glory.
While the summit does not have a scheduled end date the Ministry officials that have been willing to make comments to the press state that they are beginning to work toward a resolution. Whether or not the Tournament will take place is still unsure, but now that the news is out students of the appropriate age will be buzzing for their chance to prove their valour.
