FULL NAME: Emma Grace Frost NICKNAME: n/a CODE NAME: White Queen (II) AGE: 26 DATE OF BIRTH: 01 September 1987 SEXUALITY: Heterosexual SUBJECTS TAUGHT: Ethics, Telepathy, School Councillor/Psychiatrist HOME TOWN: Boston, Massachusetts X-MEN SQUAD: (if relevant - to be determined by the mod) STUDENT SQUAD: (if relevant - to be determined by the mod) APPEARANCE: Emma's hair colour comes right out of a bottle, a firm believer in the 'blondes have more fun' way of life. Ironically considered the 'uglier' on in her family, Emma has made a habit of ensuring that she always feels good about the way she looks and enhances her natural beauty with hints of make up and form-fitting clothes that are, on occasion, extremely revealing. She wears designer clothes and never wears the same dress twice to a function. She also takes extremely good care of her clothes and constantly looks like she's just stepped off the cover of a magazine. With blue eyes and blonde hair, Emma turns heads, and she walks with a confidence that she doesn't always feel but she'd be damned if she ever let that on. Needless, Emma carries herself like she knows she's gorgeous and is never seen with a hair out of place, even after a taxing session of using her powers, Emma still looks pristine and put together. She's beautiful and has an amazing body and knows that she can show it off with confidence, though she takes extremely good care of herself to ensure that she can continue to do this.
…PERSONALITY; | ||||
Emma pretends for all the world that she's the girl who would steal your boyfriend with nary a glance but often feels second string to a lot of people, like she's the one everyone settles for, especially following Jean's death. At the school she always felt second to Jean and now, she feels even still she's second to Jean and is still trying to fight her way out from underneath the shadow of Jean after the woman's death. She wants the whole world to notice her but often compares herself to her peers and as such finds that everyone else does that too and sometimes she just doesn't understand why, but it's likely her own opinion of herself. She wants to be the best, and she wants people to look up at her and want to be her, wants people to want her, but she doesn't know how to do that because she was never as outgoing as her sisters or as scheming. Emma was the gentle one. With that in mind, Emma has a spiteful streak like you've never seen. Encouraged and borne from her scheming family, Emma has learned that if you want something, you have to get it yourself, no one will get it for you and everyone will stab you in the back eventually. She is her own best friend and looks out for herself, manipulating the situations around her and ensuring that her needs are always looked after first and foremost. Others come second to her. Whilst this isn't her natural state as Emma has always been a caring individual, she feels that if her own family could betray her so completely, then she can't trust anyone. She made good friends at the school during her time there, much to her chagrin, and as much as she felt like she was constantly competing against Jean for everyone's attention and affection, she felt the loss of both Jean and the Professor extremely keenly, which was one of the reasons she chose to return to the school. Calculating, Emma always acts in her own best interests and lets people only as close as she wants them to be. If you're useful to Emma, she'll keep you sweet, keep you around, but don't think that saves you from her brutal honesty and tactless announcements. If she doesn't like what you're wearing, she'll tell you. She's quite candid and that candour often gets her into trouble because as much as she wants friends (deep inside), she truly can't abide by idiots or people who irritate her and she has a very difficult time letting true idiocy slide. She finds a lot of people annoying, loved up couples, over-excited children and teenagers and people who talk about movies and tv characters like they're real people. She also can't abide by people with victim complexes, people who whine all the time and people who are always 'woe is me'. She hates bigoted people and people who act like they're better than her. A classic rich-kid, Emma's also snotty and doesn't own anything second hand; why would she? It's dirty and has been touched by someone else. Don't be ridiculous. She's a little spoilt in that way but she does have smarts that she's learned from both being a student of the Institute and then as an adult when she left to find her own way. As much as she wants to pretend that she is as detached as she looks and acts, Emma does get attached to people and finds it sometimes in contradiction to how she wants to shut everyone out so they won't hurt her or betray her like her family. And she still longs for people to fight hard enough to prove to her that they won't. Unfortunately, the only person who has ever believed in her - in a way that she understands and is outward and obvious - is Sebastian. She's loyal to him even if she's beginning to have second thoughts about what he wants from her the more time she spends in the school and the more she connects with old friends and new students.
…POWERS; | ||||
Emma Frost's primary mutant power is telepathy. She is capable of extraordinary psionic feats, including the telepathic standards of: broadcasting and receiving thoughts, mind-control, altering perceptions and memories, psychic shielding, astral projection, mind switching, brain engram modification, mental sedation, induction of mental pain via touch. She can enter and fight on the astral plane, and if trained, she is able to sever the connection between a person and their body, leaving them trapped in their astral form. She is also able to boost or activate a mutant's powers through access of their brain's neurological pathways, and can communicate across global distances unaided. The exact level of her telepathic power is as yet unknown but before his death and during her time at the school, Charles often hinted that she was a telepath the likes of which were rarely seen and shared, in confidence without Emma's knowledge, with Ororo that she was a telepath who could rival him in power as she reached full adulthood. She can, for example, use Cerebro with little mental feedback. Emma is also a latent telekinetic, but this part of her power is completely dormant and cannot be accessed by her conscious mind. It would need to be jumpstarted to be accessible. Occasionally when she has severe nightmares (of which she has precious few), the room shakes slightly. She has the potential to be an incredibly powerful telekinetic as well, an offshoot of her psionic ability that has yet to be released in full strength and force. Emma Frost also has a secondary mutation which is the ability to transform her body into organic diamond. In this form, she is translucent and retains full mobility while being almost invulnerable, and able to support incredible amounts of weight, up to and including two tons. Emma's diamond body is virtually tireless as she does not produce fatigue poisons and has no need for water nor food. She is also numbed from emotion, pain and empathy, impervious to cold, and resistant to heat in this form. Despite this high level of invulnerability, her diamond form has a single molecular flaw, which if exploited – being shot between the eyes with a diamond bullet – can cause her body to shatter. From that, she could not recover. Emma cannot access her psychic powers in diamond form, her telepathy suppressed by her diamond form's adamantine luster. Emma has telepathic immunity while in diamond form, and is totally shielded from psychic invasion but cannot use her own telepathy until she turns back. Her diamond form is also emits low-level ultraviolet light, causing it to glow in darkness.
…HISTORY; | ||||
Emma is the second of three daughters, and the third of four children. She was always closest to her older brother, Christian, who she loved more than anyone else in the world. Her father, Winston, was a dominating figure who had impossibly high standards for his children and demanded that they met them, he accepted nothing less. He was cold, ruthless and unflinchingly demanding of his family - though he often fell short of his own expectations behind closed doors. Emma's mother, Hazel, was a very fragile woman who numbed herself to the rising tensions and demands of her husband and children by abusing prescription drugs and wine. The beautiful and vain Adrienne was the ambitious one, always scheming to win her father’s favor… and his fortune. Cordelia was the rebellious one, willing to do whatever it took to win a little of her father’s attention, no matter who might get hurt as a result. Christian was carefree and playful once he stopped caring what his father thought of him. He was Emma’s sole friend and ally in the dysfunctional Frost household, which was filled with power games, manipulation and secrets and Emma loved him more than anyone else in the whole world, he was her confidante, her best friend and her sole companion, both in the home and out of it, where her sisters' louder and more scheming personalities served them well, Emma's naivety didn't, often she was undercut by her sisters who in their quest for attention often ended up hurting their sister in the process and at that time, Emma just wanted her family to love her. She often talked to Christian about running away, right from when they were very little, absorbing his carefree nature and happy demeanour like a sponge. As a teenager, Emma tried to reason with her father. She did the things he asked of as best she could, not out of a desire for personal gain so much as from a need for a normal teenage existence. The emergence of her telepathic powers at thirteen only added to the mounting tensions that Emma already faced on a daily basis. She subconsciously used her powers to excel at school, picking up ideas and thoughts from her classmates. She achieved academic success and received validation from her teacher, Ian Kendall, on whom she had an immense crush. He also was the male figure in her life that acted as a father, cared about her wellbeing and encouraged her to excel and do her best at everything she tried. Emma announced to her father that she wanted to pursue a career in teaching, inspired by the impact Mr Kendall had on her life. Naturally, her father was infuriated by this idea. Thinking that Emma was being influenced by Mr. Kendall, Winston Frost had him fired. Emma began to see the deceit and manipulations of her father and sisters when she herself became a target of their malicious power plays. Angered by the hurt and pain they had caused her and those she cared for, Emma fought back. Utilising her telepathy, she discovered her father’s affairs and blackmailed him, exposed Adrienne’s secret modeling career and more. In retaliation, Adrienne revealed to their father that Christian was gay, a secret Emma herself had only recently learned. When Winston Frost learned this, he arranged for Christian’s lover to be framed for dealing drugs and deported. In utter despair, Christian attempted suicide. Emma found Christian and called for help, unintentionally linking their minds together when he passed out, the impact it had on her was so traumatic that she lost control of her powers and couldn't block out the simplest of thoughts. He survived but fell into a deep depression and drug addiction, spiralling out of control. Desperate to save the only person in her life she truly loved, Emma went to her father in the hopes he might help Christian. Despite her begging and her pleas, her father ignored her requests for the longest time, and when the Xavier institute sent a staff member to come and collect her, selling it as a prepatory school for students who excelled academically, her father sent her away to keep her away from Christian's 'influence'. His last words to her was that he would help Christian. At fifteen, despite her knowledge of her father's ruthless and deceitful ways, she believed him, she believed that he would help her brother and because of that, she allowed herself to be taken to the Xavier school to start her Sophomore year. Whilst at the school, Emma settled in as well as she could do, slowly learning to regain control over her powers, but all the learning she'd done for the past couple of years had been completely undone by her brother's suicide attempt so it was like learning from the beginning all over again for her, which was infuriating, but Emma was nothing if not determined when she put her mind to something. She remained therefrom the age of fifteen until she graduated a year early. She left immediately after graduation to do her degree in Education and Psychology. She went on to do an MA in psychotherapy and BS in Business Administration. Just after her nineteenth birthday, her father named her heir to his company. Emma eventually became the majority stockholder of a multi-billion dollar conglomerate, which was been renamed Frost International after herself. Despite her youth, Emma became a chairperson of the board of Frost International and its chief executive officer. Frost International was principally involved in transportation (both the building of ships and aircraft and their use for freight and passenger transport) and electronics. Emma's beauty and talents brought her an invitation to join the Hellfire Club, an elite social organisation of the world's wealthy and powerful figures, as a stripper which caused her great offence at the notion that she would be so desperate as to stoop to such a level when she had managed, at such a young age, to run a company and obtain a masters degree. Thankfully, Sebastian Shaw fixed the flaw with some smooth talking and from that moment on, the young, twenty year old Frost became the ally of Sebastian Shaw, who was a member of the Club's Council of the Chosen, a group which secretly conspired to achieve world domination through economic and political means. At the time, the White King was a man named Buckman who was looking for funding for a specific project, known at that time as Project Armageddon. Knowing Shaw was, himself, a mutant, Buckman told him that the Project was intended to capture superhuman mutants for use by the council in seeking power. However, Frost, through her psionic powers, learned that the Project was actually intended as a means of destroying all superhuman mutants. When she shared this with Shaw, he took action and forcibly removed Buckman from power - and from existence, leaving an opening for the White King, but also for the White Queen as Shaw obliterated those who he considered to be disloyal. After Shaw chose Emma over two other women, and brutally murdered them in front of her, their union was undoubtedly official. Together, Shaw and Frost staged a coup that gave them control of the Council of the Chosen, which they renamed the Inner Circle. Shaw took the title of Black King and Frost became the new White Queen. This all happened within the first two years of her leaving the Academy, and it was also around this time that Jean and Charles died. She received a telephone call from a distraught faculty member and returned for the funeral, paying her respects and seeing the devastation that their deaths had left in their wake. It took a further nine months for Erik to reach out to her for help in drawing Scott out of the state that he had retreated into following Jean's death, to try and bring him back to some semblance of himself as they had all tried and none had succeeded. Her return to the school was twofold; to help Scott Summers (a man whom she had once considered to be her friend, but yet another person to whom she was second best to Jean - the main person to whom she was second best) and on Shaw's wishes that she scout out for potentially useful mutants. At first it was easy to separate the two missions, but as time went on and she spent more time at the school, working with Scott - and eventually other students - the lines began to blur. Now Emma's not entirely sure what she wants. It's like being a teenager all over again.
