full name: Margot Eileen Shea nicknames: Go age: 29 date of birth: 8/16/57 orientation: Heterosexual blood status: Muggleborn birthplace: Scotland current location: house: Ravenclaw '75 occupation: Healer Examiner department/team: Magical Law Enforcement height: 5'7" hair color: Blonde eye color: Blue defining scars/marks: Muggleborn tattoo August '57: Born! Greeted by parents Calum and Rhona Shea. A nurse informs the parents that their newborn did not pass her hearing test. Suggests they bring her back in a few weeks for a second exam. September '57: A second tests confirms Calum and Rhona's suspicions that their daughter is deaf. They are determined to make the best of the situation, and begin reading up on how to raise a child with profound hearing loss. '63: The Shea's make the decision to place Margot in a mainstream school. They think it will help improve her ability to read lips, making it easier for her to communicate with others without relying on their ability to use sign language. Margot also begins to see a speech pathologist around this time. '65: Margot displays first signs of magic when she touches a dying flower and it springs back to life. Doesn't even know how to begin explaining this to her parents, so she keeps it to herself. August '68: Receives her letter to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her parents are confused, and a little wary, but Margot is excited. September '68: Before the start of Hogwarts, she is paid a special visit by Albus Dumbledore. Calum and Rhona's jaws basically drop to the floor at the sight of him, having never seen a real wizard before, but Margot thinks he's fantastic. He gives her a special vial of something called Auditisium. She drinks it down, and is able to hear for the first time in her life. The first thing she hears is her mother saying her name - everyone cries. It's all very emotional. Dumbledore explains that Margot will be provided monitored dosages of Auditisium during her time at Hogwarts. He tells her that it will allow her to hear for approximately 12 hours before wearing off, but that it also comes with side effects, including but not limited to severe headaches and exhaustion. Her parents have many apprehensions, but Margot begs them to let her explore the world of magic. A few days later, she is boarding the Hogwarts express. She had never been so happy. '75: Graduates from Hogwarts! Begins to see a specialist Healer who prescribes her limited doses of Auditisium to 'take as needed'. During her time at Hogwarts, she looked into several fields that would allow her to still live in the wizarding world despite her lack of hearing. She originally looked into becoming a Healer, and started studying anatomy. '79: After attending additional schooling, she attempted an internship at Mungo's, and lasted a few months before deciding that it wasn't a good fit for her. There was too much commotion, and she often missed a lot of what was being said. She sits down with the Resident she had been shadowing, and she recommended working with the dead instead of the living. At first, Margot was a little wary, but she began to work under the Chief Healer Examiner, and got a whole new perspective on things. She also found that she enjoyed the fact that she could work in silence. '87: After working at Mungo's for 8 years, she received an owl from the Ministry, asking if she would come on board to work for the Magical Law Enforcement department. It was a step outside of her comfort zone, but she was excited for new opportunities. She is set to begin her new position sometime in July. father: Calum Shea mother: Rhona Shea sister/brother: best friend(s): friends: Regan Shacklebolt, Mattie Scarpin, Max Fancourt marital status: Single significant other: N/A pets: Sonic (Golden Retriever - Hearing Dog) past relationships: children: None supported quidditch team: journal: ![]() played-by: Brit Marling |
