| Bio: | Personality: Michael is many things but he is first and foremost a good son, loyal and obedient to his father, carrying out His will unquestioningly and without much fanfare. He has come to realise that he can't be a good son, a good brother, a good servant and a good general all at the same time, but he tries - sometimes a little too hard - to fulfill all his capacities and try to juggle his roles and duties, catering to what everyone needs, wants and expects from him. He has spent enough time walking amongst man to pick up the quirks and habits that distinguish him from many other angels, especially those that seem more like automatons than living, breathing, feeling human organisms. He seems perfectly capable of emotions and can display a full array of them spontaneously. His voice comes in a range of tones and the stresses on words and sounds all seem very natural. For all intents and purposes Michael appears no different from the ordinary, everyday stranger one encounters all the time and doesn't pay any attention to, and it is in this ignorance that Michael is able to efficiently operate in. For someone who is heavily burdened he can seem rather lighthearted on the surface. Michael doesn't spend a lot of time worrying about a future that has already been planned well in advance, and he takes things in his calm, slow, steady stride, one step at a time. He seems very approachable and he's always smiling; he has a way of making people feel at ease around him. The people around him might go so far as to say that he is very patient with others and incredibly slow to anger - they probably haven't seen him get angry in the entire time they've known him. He's always there when he is needed and he's an invaluable friend-cum-counselor to have. The angels and demons might report differently though, because he's always the serious, unrelenting one who never seems to have any time to spare. He has had to make difficult decisions in his time and he has earned equal parts respect and spite for them. In many ways Michael feels he has been robbed of the role of brother since the war in heaven crowned him general, and the time will come when he will commit a worse betrayal than what Lucifer did to them all. His festering issues with the Heavenly Host and the Fallen remain largely unresolved, but as long as the former continues silently deferring to him and the latter continues seeing him as nothing but the enemy, things are not likely to change on this front. He's not repulsively authoritative but he has a very commanding presence. Sometimes his confidence can be construed as arrogance but ultimately he is not here on a vacation to enjoy himself and have a good time. He's only here to clean up the messes and finish what others have started. History: He hasn't been around for as long as many of the deities from the older religions, but in terms of Christianity Michael has existed for a very long time. He was there in the first words of the prologue, at the beginning when life and the world were merely being conceived, and he will be there at the end to see the foretold ending through, lingering to the last words of the epilogue when the story is over. There was a time where he stood next to Lucifer, when he spent endless days sitting next to him listening to his music, and they talked, and they laughed, and Michael had a great amount of respect and admiration for the beloved light-bringer. That was a very long time ago now, and those bittersweet memories have been tainted by blood and bitterness, by all the things that have come between and destroyed their relationship. It all changed when the war began, when he couldn't just be a brother, when he had all their lives in their hands and had to make all the decisions he had never wanted to make. Michael is one of the key figures when it comes to Christianity, crucial to determining the fate of the world, but in many senses he's not all that different from a homeless drifter, wandering aimlessly from continent to continent, lingering where faith takes hold, where he is needed most, where God wants him to be. His presence more or less cemented in America in the 18th century. His daily experiences are with people from all walks of life, and he spends more time around them than he does in heaven. His closeness with God is not something tangible, not something that can physically be measured, but for everything that he is too tired to keep on repeating, he makes up for it in favours granted and services rendered. The tension between heaven and hell rages on, but Michael continues to split his time accordingly, and devote himself to where he is most needed. Sometimes it means he has to face the centuries-old problems he seems to have been avoiding, but most of the time it means semi-incognito work with strangers who will most likely never see him again.
