• Asher was born the second child of Olivia and Jason Royce. The first, a sister (Gretchen Michele), died at seven months old from a fever that was left unattended for too long. As a result, Asher, who came two years later, was an extremely protected child. At least until his younger brother was born.

• Has alway been close to his brother, Penn, who is a little less than six years younger than he is. For the last three years, they lived in the same Los Angeles apartment building and Penn made an almost daily visit .. mostly to steal food.

• He met Jessica Stone in the eighth grade. The two hated each other from that very first meeting when he ran into her in the middle of the hallway, knocked all of her books from her hand, and then refused to help her pick them up because he was 'late for class.' Somewhere along the next four years, the two were thrown together on countless school activities and assignments, got to know each other a little better, and began dating. They went to the senior prom together, they went to the same community college, and at twenty-two they got married. Two years later, they welcomed their first (and only) child, Amity Grayclin. They were a happy family for five years, five very short years. The day before Ami's fifth birthday, Jess was in a terrible car accident. She was in the hospital for 3 months on life support without waking up once. Eventually, Asher had to pull the chord and let go of the woman he loved.

• Attended West Los Angeles College where he majored in Hospitality. Of course, he didn't always want to be in the hotel business. It just seemed like a pretty easy job and it offered stability, good pay, and great benefits. The Fairmont offers its employees a pretty decent discount at any of its hotels around the world, too, which made vacations with his family a lot easier .. at least, when he used to take them.

• Moved to Seattle when he was offered the manager position at the Fairmont Olympic. The pay was too much to pass up and, after three years, he thought a change would be best for both him and Ami. When Jess died, they never really moved past that. Of course, he probably never will, but a new city, new people, a new home? It's better than just sitting in his cramped apartment waiting for things to come to him, waiting for things to be better.

• Hasn't been on a single date since his wife died, though Penn has tried to set him up with countless women.

• Spends a lot of time outdoors. Having grown up in LA, he learned to swim and surf almost around the same time he learned to walk. Also enjoys hiking, biking, and camping. Has taken Ami on a week long camping trip in upstate California every year since she was born.

• Can't make it through the day without at least three cups of highly caffeinated coffee and half a pack of cigarettes. Prefers 'Salem: Black Label' to any other brand of cigarette, but will take Kool or Newport in a pinch.

• Bought the house at 11832 78th Avenue South in Seattle. It's a fixer-upper but with the amount of land it sits on and the neighborhood surrounding it, he couldn't have picked a better place to raise his daughter.

• Has known Danielle Belmont since she was in diapers. Recently found out that her younger sister has a crush on him and he's seriously considering persuing it despite the ten year age gap.
