Powers: Doug's inborn mutant power was the ability to intuitively understand and translate any form of communication, be it written, spoken or non-verbal, and regardless of whether the origin of the language was human, computer or even completely alien. Even if the language is long dead and without any points of reference. This ability extends to deciphering codes and understanding computer languages. Which also helps with his ease in writing software and computer code.

Abilites: Far above average intelligence even in subjects that his powers don’t help with; decent fighter, but easily underestimated; accomplished hacker from a young age. Some of the ease of this comes from his abilities, but some of it really doesn’t; Also does an encyclopedia-like knowledge of pop culture things and everything he's read on wikipedia and tvtropes count as an ability?

Weaknesses: Doug’s mutant ability while impressive isn’t all that great when it comes to physical fighting. His power is mental and passive, and while he’s a major security risk he’s not much of a physical one, since he has no offensive of defensive abilities. In this regard he is very much a regular human stuck in the middle of a superhuman fight. Also, Doug while confident in his abilities, still has a bit of an inferiority complex. He wishes he could just throw stuff around with his thoughts and stuff like that.

Doug was born to Sheila and Philip Ramsey, and he grew up as a North Salem native. He was an exceptionally bright, geeky but well natured kid, skipping a grade in elementary school, and was raised in a run of the mill middle class household. Overall, even if he grew up with his nose in a book, he was a relatively happy child.

When he got to middle school things changed. He showed an unprecedented genius level when it came to language classes and computer science classes. While he had to study for some of the aspects of computer science (mostly hardware and construction), when asked about his smarts he just explained that it just came easily to him.

Doug never had any idea that he was a mutant. He figured, like everyone else, that he was just a prodigy.

Growing up in North Salem, Doug came into contact with several of the students at Xavier’s outside of school. Doug always found mutants interesting, and he always sort of thought it would be cool if he had powers. Most notably he struck up a friendship with Kitty Pryde, who shared his interest in computers. He had a crush, she never noticed, he eventually got over it.

Finding out he was a mutant was sort of a mixed blessing. He loved and hated it. He sort of spent his time wishing he had a more kickass power, and while he made some amazing friends at Xavier’s he really hated feeling inadequate and insecure about having a “weak” power.

Doug was extremely thankful that he’d skipped a grade in elementary school and tore through a few of his Xavier‘s classes. He graduated early and took off to Stanford when he got in taking his advanced placement credit with him. He kept in touch with the friends he had, but was glad to be in a place where he shone and with a bunch of people who had the same thoughts that he did. He graduated twice once right before his twentieth birthday with his undergraduate degree and again two years later with his masters in computer science and engineering.

He did start thinking about his old alma mater, so when he returned home to his parents’ for the holidays after graduating he spoke to Xavier about returning. He’s been back at the mansion ever since, doing anything and everything tech, security, and communications related for the X-teams.
