Beau is fairly slim and muscular, which largely comes from his soccer training. He has been playing since he was very young, and so he is good. He does have some scars from it- mostly on his knees from falls, though some on his arms too. He has other scars on thighs, back, and stomach- but he refuses to discuss any of them. Some look like cuts, others burns or improperly healed welts.

PERSONALITY Beau tries to be friendly more often than not. He does, however, have his flaws. He is religiously dedicated to keeping in shape- sports, running, and constant workouts fill his limited free time and he rarely can be drawn away from his routine, even when hurt or ill. For all this, he is quite shy about his body, constantly believing that he could do more and look better- a determination instilled by his military father. He loves reading and studying, though this could also be tied to his perfectionist tendencies. While he is friendly, he cannot be said to be completely open, and there are a lot of things about himself he likes to keep hidden, as there are many things about him- thoughts and feelings- that he knows his family does not approve of. His time in varied troubled teen groups caused him to be even more withdrawn and hide even more about himself because he does not ever want to go back to that environment.

Beau honestly does not like himself very much. This may have a lot to do with his extremely strict Christian upbringing and the fact that he has never felt fully accepted by his family - to the point that they no longer speak to him at all. A homosexual, possibly possessed freak did not fit into their happy home, and as soon as he was able, he left and has not looked back, even though many of the things that happened to him before leaving still haunt him, often leaving him with nightmares and an intense discomfort with being touched.

High intelligence and focus that allows him to do very well at schoolwork- though he does put forth a great deal of effort because he needs to feel “good enough.”

HISTORY Beauregard Montgomery was the last boy of Mason and Celeste, and from the start he was less “easy” than his older brothers. He was colicky and fussy and often seemed to be out of place with his two elder brothers. The only time he seemed to be like them was on the soccer field, where he proved to be quite adept even from a young age. While his brothers were boisterous and clearly forming up to follow in their father’s footsteps in the army and on the football field, Beau was much quieter, more reserved, and honestly much less masculine in the traditional sense. That wasn’t to say that he showed many “girl” traits, simply that he would rather have a book to read than a fight to take part in.

The fact that he was odd came out more and more as he grew older. Strange things started to occur around him- objects moving without being touched, falling plates stopping in midair before they broke- and it made his parents uneasy. They were Christian, after all. Witchcraft was not acceptable in the home, and Beau found himself the recipient of numerous punishments and eventually beatings to try and get Satan out of him. It didn’t work, and in fact it got worse as he grew older and more upset with himself. He couldn’t control whatever it was that was making things happen around him, and when he tried, he became frustrated very easily and it just seemed to get even worse. He didn’t want to be the way he was, he wanted to be normal like his brothers, and the son his parents wanted, but it just didn’t seem to be in the cards.

At the age of 15, his parents tired of trying to get him to straighten up and sent him to a boarding school for troubled teens in Texas. He didn’t want to go, and while he tried to follow the rules, whatever it was that made things move around him? It didn’t go away, and the anger and hurt he felt at being sent away to this horrific place increased the events exponentially, to the point that simply being in the room with one of his tormentors could cause shelves to fall, glasses to break, and general destruction to follow in his wake. His parents didn’t give up though, sending him back the next year because he seemed withdrawn and they believed it would help him. It didn’t, and when he came home he tried to find a way to escape. He clearly wasn’t wanted, even though he was bringing home trophies and straight As even with his time away, so he should leave. He tried to run away twice, and tried to file to become emancipated. Neither solution was successful, and when he was caught with a boy (they were just talking- but intensely) he was sent to therapy. The fact was, yes, he liked boys, but he would never say it. Honestly it terrified him, the thought that he would be going to hell - if he wasn’t already there- and he tried to follow the course at Living Waters. Instead, it simply left him averse to any touch, any contact, and he knew he was entirely alone.

School was his best and only escape, he realized, and between his grades, his athletic skills, and the various funds his grandparents had left each sibling when they died, he was able to enroll in a school far from Georgia and far from the environment he had been brought up in. He knew he needed a place where he could grow and be himself- and the fact that his father told him not to come back? Well, he knew he had to be someplace that would accept him, flaws and all -not that there is anything but flaws in his eyes. Philadelphia seemed welcoming, and large enough that he could easily disappear, and so he took the scholarships he got there and is now progressing to a Biology degree that he hopes will lead him to med school.

MISC. NOTES

• Largely reviled by his family for his sexuality.
• He does not like being touched- it can sometimes set off flashbacks of his time in Heartlight Ministries and Living Waters.
• While he is homosexual, he avoids even the idea of relationships, believing himself unworthy of the time it would take to build.
• He is almost irrevocably addicted to coffee and energy drinks. He finds sleep difficult on the best of days and so he needs something to keep him up.
