I didn't tell you because you weren't there yet in your life. Then he arrived and you were so happy. I couldn't tell you that his loss broke you. When Jasper went down during the Battle you went into hysterics. You threw your own safety out the window and went to him. Fearing that you would not care for your own life I followed you. When it became apparent he was lost I had to pull you kicking and screaming away from him. I held you until you gave up the fight and just went limp in my arms crying. We stayed hidden until the end and against my better judgement I took you back to the Great Hall. You immediately found Jasper and wouldn't let go. Eventually, they had to remove you from him because it was obvious you weren't going to leave on your own accord.
