appearance
HAIR COLOR: Black EYE COLOR: Green HEIGHT: 5'9" BUILD: Lean DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Upon first glance, you notice the bright green eyes, which he inherited from his mother, and untamed mob of black hair, courtesy of his father's genes. He has a thin two-inch scar on his left temple and a webbing of small, but thick scars on his left shoulder which he got in a dare gone wrong. The latter are covered by a over-the-shoulder phoenix wizarding tattoo (why yes, it moves!) to remind him of how lucky he was not to end up completely incapacitated (or worse). He also sports three scratch marks on his right thigh. DRESS: Harry tends to dress casual, opting for jeans and shirts, but he can dress up nicely if more formal attire is desired. Not that he enjoys the latter very much. PREFERRED PB: Tom Welling

occupations
OCCUPATION: Harry works as an independent contractor specialising in translating/interpreting of any kind. This includes (but is not limited to) research projects, text translation, interpreting at conferences, political negotiations, curse analysing and breaking and individual warding. FIRM/AGENCY/INDEPENDENT: Harry insists he does his best work at home, where the ground floor has been altered to serve as his office and workspace. CLIENTELE: Harry's clientele will most likely big organisations such as the Ministry and Gringotts (as this were the case in the past), but anyone could become a client. Harry offers services to businesses as well as individuals. OCCUPATIONAL HISTORY: During his second half of his final year at BeauxBatons, Harry interned at the French Ministry as an interpreter/translator for beings, beasts and tourists. After the summer, he moved back to England and held a number of odd jobs within the Ministry there. Three years later, he decided he'd had enough of inside politics and paperpushers and applied at Gringotts, where he trained to become a Curse Breaker. He had a burn out several years later and was in dire need of change, so he quit his job and decided to take a trip to clear his head. One year later, he came back to Britain and saw the advertising for Cottismore. Figuring starting there was as good as anywhere, he bought a house and moved to Cottismore where he set up his own little business.
random facts
Three facts (or more!) that don't fit anywhere else in the applicationRANDOM FACT #1: Harry used to wear glasses as a child. But as he found this very impractical later on, he had his eyesight magically improved. However magic couldn't completely restore his sight, he occasionally wears glasses for reading. RANDOM FACT #2: Harry loves to cook. Having grown up with a muggleborn mother, their meals were usually prepared the old fashioned way. (Unless his father took reign of the kitchen, without much success.) Harry picked up the habit of cooking without magic when he moved out on his own. He's not likely to admit this to any of his male friends, but the women he likes may find themselves treated to a fancy home cooked dinner. RANDOM FACT #3: Harry never played Quidditch in school, but that didn't keep him from keeping track of the game. It got him involved with some shady bookkeepers and illegal gambling. He was just bored mostly and needed something to do, really! Either way, he doesn't gamble anymore, but the house in Cottismore he paid for with money from that dirty little piggy bank. RANDOM FACT#4: Harry continues to pronounce BeauxBâtons en français, even after he moved back to England. RANDOM FACT#5: Harry enjoys flirting and chasing girls, but he quickly loses interest once they submit. If he really likes them, he might hold out for another few months, but when things tend to get too serious, it will surely send him running.
plot ideas/wants
What would you like to do with your character? Where would you like to see him/her go? Do you want anything wild and crazy to happen in game? Have at. This is where you give mods ideas. Try for three, but more the merrier! WANTED LINE: I'd love to see Harry form relationships in a whole new way, both in the frienship and romantic aspects. Not having the canon fame will surely make some things harder, but also leaves opportunities that could prove to be very interesting. WANTED LINE: I wish to explore a different side of his personality. How a different life made him a whole new person, how people and events may affect him in new and different ways, how it will affect his decisions... And find out what makes the new Harry really tick. I can't even think of one thing, but keep imagining all kinds of things that could make this a very challenging game! WANTED LINE: Trouble! I love getting Harry into trouble, any trouble of any kind! We can't have Harry Potter without some ridiculous trouble! Have at! Throw me a bone! WANTED LINE: Weasleys! Since Harry's parents joined the Order of the Phoenix when they finished Hogwarts in 1978, I imagine that Lily and James would have known Molly and Arthur. Maybe they even kept in contact after Tom Riddle was imprisoned and the Order was no longer really required?

personality
Please give us FIVE traits, addressed the positives and negatives of each trait.Restless Harry's not the type to sit around and wait for things to happen. He will nearly always make sure to have his hands full and several other plans forming at the back of his mind. Whenever that well runs out, he gets antsy and will find something else to occupy his time. His friends can certainly count on him whenever they have plans. Harry will rarely say no to an opportunity to have some fun. Troublemaker Harry's restlessness also has less interesting aspects. With his need to always have his hands full, also comes the trouble he keeps getting himself into. Even if he never means for it to happen, trouble seems to find him everywhere, whether it be something common like breaking an oar while rowing across a lake, or something personal, like overhearing something that could really kill your career if you ever dared to admit you heard about it. These things might turn his life around at times, but in the end, they're merely bumps in the road. Resourceful Every problem has need for a solution. And Harry makes it his goal to find one. He can get very creative and his out-of-the-box thinking knows little boundaries. Harry will combine several options to create a solution, until he will find something that actually works. Although sometimes he tries to make things a little more complicated than they should be, which might not always lead to a working solution. However twists and turns could lead to some things more interesting and getting more than you bargained for. Optimistic Looking on the bright side of things is definitely one of Harry's strong points. Whether it be one of his friends being in a rough spot, or if he's the one facing a particular problem, he will continue to look on the bright side and try to work on things from there. In his opinion, there is no point in focusing on the negative aspect because at least that is going to get you nowhere at all. Even in all his enthusiam, Harry remains realistic, which is sometimes off-putting for people who come to him to hear what they want to hear. When you have both feet on the ground and a cut the crap attitude, you can't expect everybody to like you for who you are. Loyal Friends can always count on Harry to be there for them. He will go to great lengths for the people who he truly cares about. He's a great at lending an ear and will keep anyone's secrets, which can become a burden at times. But it's a great way to bury his own issues and not to think about those instead.
history
Please provide FIVE significant moments in your character's life. They should define the character and who they are today. No more than a paragraph for eachDare Harry's always been a bit of a daredevil, and he won't say no to a challenge, even if the consequences could be less appealing. He's always had a way with flying since he was a small child, thus every dare involving getting into the air he imagined a piece of cake. Until he came upon that young Abraxan stallion he and a few of BeauxBâtons friends borrowed from the stables one night. If Harry had known the animal hadn't been broken in properly, he might have not been so foolish to climb onto its back and fly it around the school grounds... When he tried to land it, he lost control of the reigns and crashed it into the tress, resulting in a serious head and shoulder injury. That definitely taught him a lesson. Nope, no more flying horses for him. Once bitten, twice shy... Lake-side cottage In the final month of his internship at the French Ministry, he travelled to Lac du Der-Chantecoq in the company of several Ministry officials. He was asked to act as an interpreter between the Ministry's delegation and the Merpeople who inhabited the lake. It concerned an issue of waterpollution caused by the large tourist concentration during the spring and summer. After negotiating back and forth, it was decided the lake would be closed to the public for the summer until everything was back in order. Harry was asked to stay behind and keep an eye on things, and act as interpreter whenever necessary. He 'lived' with them during the summer, albeit on the shore, but this experience had a great impact on him and his view on Merpeople. Motorcycle When Harry turned 18, his godfather Sirius swung by with the most amazing birthday gift. It made his father a little bit jealous - even if James would never admit it - and his mother nearly screamed Sirius' head off when she saw the monster in the backyard. But Harry loved it from the minute he set eyes on it. He'd been looking enviously at Sirius' motorcycle since he was 16 and had been thrilled whenever his godfather would ask him to go on a ride, or fly. His mother calmed down eventually, but told him that if he'd ever crash it, she would be the first to give him a good beating for it, too. She had set the right example by smacking her husband while he had tried to suppress a snicker. Lose something, win something Before moving to Cottismore, Harry travelled to many countries, doing odd jobs here and there. Whenever he was particularly short on money, he would resort to betting, or being bet on. Never travelling without his broom, he was usually able to find a few people who were willing to race him. Preferably after making a public display of the challenge, raising the stakes and the possible income as well. Mostly he raced suckers who wanted to impress the local girls, but one evening, his challenge was accepted by one of those local girls. Harry expected it to be an easy win as the girl certainly did not seem to be much of a challenge. He didn't just lose, she simply killed him. Later that night, while he was sulking at the bar, she bought him a drink. Later still, she kissed him. Looking back, Harry figured not all was lost that evening. His ego could have been sorer. Promise Before Harry moved to Cottismore, he stayed with his parents for a few weeks. He told them about his trip around the world and his decision to move to this new place. On the last night, his mother pulled him aside, asked him to sit with her for a while as she had something to give him. His parents had never been the type to ask about girls, or to try to push him into a particular direction, but the look in his mother's eyes told him that she hoped some things would change in the future. She gave him a black velvet box, containing a ring. It had been her engagement ring and it had been passed down from generation to generation in the Potter family. She remained silent, while Harry turned the ring over and over between his fingers, not quite knowing how to react. Words couldn't have made the meaning of this parting gift much clearer... BIGGEST SECRET: Mostly, Harry's afraid that Cottismore might only be a temporary place for him to live. He's been cursed with endless searching for something more interesting and some days, he feels like he's never going to find it. He can be rather content at the moment, being his own boss and owning his own house. Financially, he has nothing to worry about, but boredom is the thing he fears the most. Being stuck in the same job he might come to detest, maybe a marriage he may come to regret? Nothing is happening yet, but boredom creeps. It creeps... WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Harry's perfectly content to live in Cottismore, for now. The town looks nice and the people are generally friendly. He's been called away for the job on a few occasions, so he wasn't around when the attack of the scarecrows happened on Halloween. After hearing about it, he shrugged it off and imagined it was just someone's idea of a bad joke. When the barrier came down in December, he was in town and not too happy about it. His parents had been expecting him for the holidays and with all communication being wonky, Harry was not a happy camper. When the issue got resolved, Harry made a mental note to go to talk to the person responsible. In his opion, faulty warding is not an excuse to lock up the inhabitants of Cottismore from time to time. It's on his to do-list, which is getting rather lengthy... DIFFERENCE FROM CANON: His parents are alive. There were no attempts on his life; at least not by Voldemort and his followers. Harry's had the chance to live a normal life, but has no close ties with Hermione, Ron, Ginny and many others. I can say for sure that all this has affected his view on life and his personality, even if some of his core character traits remain unchanged. I can't wait to have a go at this!

FIRST PERSON: What do I say to her? I'm leaving tomorrow and I don't even know how I have to explain it to her... I thought this job was going to keep me here a little longer. I'm glad I'm going home, though, and I wouldn't have minded if it hadn't been for her. We had it good the last few weeks, even if she had hoped for more. What if I simply leave a note? No... That would not be very nice, now would it? I have to tell her face to face. What if she starts crying? She will cry. Fuck, I hate it when they cry.
Maybe a drink will give me an idea. Yeah, that sounds like a plan. Maybe I should just invite her for a drink? Maybe it will be easier to talk to her about this when we've both had something to drink. Then again, she gets emotional when she's drunk. She'll cry. Fuck. I really don't want her to cry. But I really should tell her. And I should tell her tonight. Maybe I could wait until tomorrow morning? That way I can leave and I won't have to see her cry, because I will have to leave in time to catch the train. No... I have to tell her tonight. She'll cry. Fuck. I really don't want to make her cry. THIRD PERSON: It was a cool evening in August, surprisingly cool even for the time of the year. Harry Potter was sitting on a pile of bricks which was part of currently halted reconstruction of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. They had stopped rebuilding it in March 2000 and still now, it looked like a ruin. But he was facing away from the ruined castle, looking out over the grounds, the lake glittering in the orange light of the sunset. A breeze swept through his hair, messing it up even more and he wiped his fringe out of his eyes, irritated. He looked down at the scarf lying in his lap, his fingers lightly touching it as if he was afraid it would bite him. It was his. The burgundy scarf with dark yellow stripes, the familiar Gryffindor house colours. He brought it up to his face and smelled it. He grimaced. He had pulled it out of his school trunk when he was looking through it. His fingers explored the texture, finding it raffling here and there, discovering holes in places he hadn’t know they were there. He smiled, fingering one of the holes. He could still remember where he had gotten this one. It had been his first year at Hogwarts and Malfoy had ratted him, Ron and Hermione out to McGonagall. As punishment, they had been sent to serve detention in the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid. The path had been narrow and sometimes, he had to fight his way through the branches and the bushes. He could remember having been stuck for a moment when his scarf had caught on a tree branch, tearing a hole in the material. Ahh. Memories. “There you are!” A voice from behind him spoke. Harry turned around to see Hermione walking towards him. He gave a small smile. “I’ve been looking all over for you, you dimwit.” She pursed her lips. “Ginny said you had run off again.” She paused, looking away. “You really should stop doing that, Harry. Ginny worries about you, so do Ron and I whenever we hear you have disappeared again.” “I can’t help it, Hermione.” Harry muttered. “Sometimes, it feels like the walls of that house close in on me. Then I just have to get out, go somewhere… Anywhere… We’ve been through this so many times and I always tell you the same thing.” “If you can say it to me, then why don’t you tell Ginny?” Hermione sighed. “Really, Harry…” “It’s different with Ginny. She wasn’t there when we hunted down those Horcruxes. You were. Ron was. She would not understand, Hermione.” “You could always try. After all, she is your girlfriend, isn’t she? Or is this one of weeks again where you and her aren’t dating anymore?” She ran a hand through her hair, her eyes pleading slightly. When he didn’t reply, she spoke again. “Harry…?” “I don’t know, Hermione.” Harry quietly admitted. “You should know, Harry. It’s your life after all.” Harry gazed up at her and Hermione nearly flinched at the look in his eyes. They seemed so dull, making her friend look tired and too much older than he really was. They stared at each other in silence for a few moments and when Harry spoke again, Hermione had to listen very carefully to make out the words. “Recently, I don’t know much anymore…” |
