Michael Corner had always been a brilliant kid. Since the age of five, he showed extraordinary abilities in mathematics and showed to be a prominent student in his future education. But it was very short-lived, when at the age of seven, Michael's little sister, Melissa was very sick with Reye's Syndrome. It was a fatal disease, placing Michael's little sister into heavy sicknesses and eventually a deep coma. His parents had no choice. All little Michael could do was stand by helpless. He was the one who had found his sister in her third stage of sickness, and during all her pain, he could do nothing to help her. This is where Michael's chivalrous chase of so-called damsels in distress stems from.

After the death of Lissa, Michael wasn't so keen on school. He became a troublemaker. His grades honestly never suffered as bad, but they weren't exactly straight A's. When Michael recieved his letter to Hogwarts, he was skeptic. But his mother, who was the resident witch, urged him to attend. Michael had always known about his mother's abilities, had often seen her working in the kitchen with her wand. He even glanced at some of the books on his father's dusty shelves, especially the ones about Quidditch. His family was always understanding of their son, but his father was not as lenient with Michael about his skills in mathematics, urging him to lead a more responsible lifestyle. Believing that he could pave another pathway for himself, something more promising in the magical community, the charming brunette set off to Hogwarts.

There, the Sorting Hat saw through to Michael's abilities and placed him in Ravenclaw. In his house, he met Terry Boot and Anthony Goldstein. Michael became a charmer, a sweet-talker. He was always smiling over the ladies, even at such a young age. After Michael's fifth year, dating Ginny Weasley and Cho Chang, he was less of an annoying whiny baby charmer, and more of a smooth talking fellow, and nearly everyone's friend.
