Patru [30 Dec 2012|01:30pm] [ mood | cheerful ] I have been so used to spending my birthday in remote isolation that it caught me really off guard when my mum wanted to throw together some sort of special get together. Luckily, with the holidays approaching, I was able to talk her out of it, though not without a lot of begrudging on her part. Instead of an ordeal, I got a wonderful home cooked meal at home. 26 isn't much different than 25. I get the impression that next year I will feel a might different, as 27 feels so much closer to 30 than naught. The holidays were lovely. The usual sweater from mum and lovely gifts from the rest of the family. It was fantastic to be home for the holidays for the first time in years. I can't believe Ginny is in her last year at Hogwarts. This weekend I'm off to Sweden to visit an aging short-snout that's been warming an egg for the better part of a year. I'm to inspect the egg and give a prognosis, which likely won't be very good given the age of the mother. But nonetheless, a part of me can't help but hope that this will be the one to survive. Looking forward to the upcoming World Cup. I think I can find something for myself to do in Australia, so I should be, at the very least, at the final matches.
