000 - Charlie Weasley

{ CHARLIE WEASLEY
Over the hills and far away,
he swears he will return one day.

BASICS
NAME: Charles Septimus Weasley
NICKNAMES: Charlie. He won't answer to much else.
AGE | DOB: 25 | 12 December 1972
HOGWARTS HOUSE | YEAR: Gryffindor | Class of 1991
BLOOD STATUS: Pureblood.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single.
SEXUALITY: Straight.
OCCUPATION: Dragon lover. Dragon chaser. Dragon caretaker. Dragonologist.
LOCATION: Currently residing at the Burrow until he can find a place of his own.

FAMILY BACKGROUND:
• Arthur Weasley (48, father, Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office, Ministry of Magic)
• Molly Weasley (48, mother, housewife)
• Bill Weasley (27, brother, curse-breaker for Gringotts)
• Percy Weasley (21, brother, something important with the Ministry)
• Fred Weasley (20, brother, entrepreneur)
• George Weasley (20, brother, entrepreneur)
• Ron Weasley (18, brother)
• Ginny Weasley (16, sister)

Second child of Molly and Arthur Weasley, Charlie's memories of childhood are full of love and laughter. There was rarely tension at the Weasley dinner table, even though money was always tight. Charlie has always adored his parents, and though he got on well with both of them, was a bit of a loner instead of latching on to either one of them. Pretty much since birth, Charlie has been best friends with his older brother, Bill. Having always been close in age, they shared a tight bond of brotherhood that carried with them throughout their time at Hogwarts and beyond. Charlie was proud to become a big brother when Percy game into the world. He may tease Percy often about being the brown-noser of the family, but there has never been any resentment between them. He has always had good relationships with all of his siblings, particularly the twins, and can't believe that Fred and George and even Ron have finished their Hogwarts careers. Ginny, being the only girl, has always fascinated Charlie, and while he can be overprotective at times, he is much more interested in seeing how a Weasley girl deals with the world coming at her.

_______________________________

What Charlie lacks in height, he makes up for in muscle. Standing only 5'11", Charlie has strong, broad shoulders and can often be seen sporting sunglasses and a bit of a tan due to his outdoor work. He wouldn't be a Weasley without the red hair, which he lets grow out enough not to be too short or too long (though still longer than his mother prefers). His hair tended to suffer and become atrociously curly and tangled when long, so now a days he tries to keep it shorter. The sun has given him more than his fair share of freckles, having been outside practically since the moment he could walk, but Charlie thinks he wears them surprisingly well.

Always the outdoors-man of the family, Charlies style of clothing can only be described as two things: comfortable and practical. Used to stretching a coin, Charlie could wear a pair of pants until they tore to shreds, and has so many old comfortable shirts that he just won't throw away. He wears dirt and sweat like a badge of pride. It would take a lot of convincing to get Charlie in a suit, though his mother has certainly won this battle on more than one occassion.

Charlie is a very relaxed person, and it takes a lot to anger him. When engaged in conversation, he nearly always has an easy stance with his hands in his pockets, no matter what the topic. His smile is wide and his laughter hearty. Charlie's eyes have a mischievous glint to them, and he may have been involved in his fair share of pranking as a child, especially once the twins started at it. When trapped indoors, Charlie can always find a window to look out. If there isn't a window in the room, one might catch him daydreaming of dragons far, far away.

He is well-toned, even a bit stocky when it comes to build. He was an adept Quidditch player for most of his Hogwarts career, but also spent a fair amount of time working with magical creatures. Because of this, his hands are well callused, and Charlie boasts a very firm grip. He has a difficult time sitting still, and prefers to stand whenever possible. Despite his athleticism and nimbleness when it comes to dealing with a troublesome dragon, in a casual environment Charlie might be considered a bit awkward, even clumsy at times.

SHORT QUOTE OR SHORT LYRIC GOES HERE
_______________________________

Charlie Weasley's laughter can be heard a mile away. Brought up to love life, Charlie tends to take little very seriously and always has a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. As a kid he had so much energy it was nearly impossible for him to sit still, and growing older he continually added new hobbies to his repertoire in order to harvest his enthusiasm. He has a hug like a happy bear, and a handshake so firm it could break bones if he isn't careful.

Charlie very much belongs outdoors. He can put on a smile and sit in the living room, but his heart is in the mountains taming dragons. He wasn't the most attentive student, although his grades were not awful. He excelled most in courses that allowed for hands-on learning, and more so in ones that allowed for him to study out of doors. He hated the seriousness of classrooms, and would be the first to crack a joke at the expense of the teacher or sometimes another, often Slytherin, student, if only to keep a touch of laughter in the air.

Like his hands, Charlie can be a bit rough and tumble. He doesn't beat around the bush, likes to be heard, and will go out of his way to put his arm around his mates after a good joke. He has a witty side that comes in handy when defending himself from Blood-Purists that have a thing or two to say about his family, but his voice completely lacks the malice to sound like he means what he says. The exception to his generally outgoing nature is a streak of shyness when it comes to women. Molly would have struck his knuckles if he ever behaved as less than a gentleman, but he lacked the confidence when it came to talking to girls.

Like all of Weasleys, Charlie is very family-oriented. Spending time with them has been strained the past seven years due to his work in Romania, and for that, he is relieved to return home so that he can spend more time with them. He has barely seen most of his siblings since they were just kids at Hogwarts, save for photos and the rare trips taken by the family. Even holidays were a bit difficult for Charlie to make it home, as dragons don't really care much about Christmastide or vacations. Still, if ever a problem were to arise at home, Charlie would drop everything to be there if he was needed. There are eight things that are the most important in the world to Charlie Weasley, and they are the eight members of his family.

Charlie takes most things in quiet stride, and will laugh off almost any insult. He rarely gets angry, and he is much more likely to brood than to let someone know. The first tip off to knowing Charlie is angry is that he will fall silent. His ears will turn a brilliant shade of red if he gets really mad, but one would be hard pressed to see Charlie shout or explode. Sure there has been a time or two where he yelled at Percy for revealing one of his secret pets, but now that he is older Charlie is much more likely to walk away and sulk in silence.

Charlie isn't a workaholic because of a sense of duty, but because he is very much in love with what he is doing. Working with dragons was a childhood dream of his, and every day he wakes up to crisp mountain air and the thrill of danger. Charlie hates to leave things unfinished. Once he sets a goal for himself, he is determined to complete it, to the point where he sometimes loses sight of his reasons for what he is doing in the first place. Work has come first for Charlie the past seven years, and so has been single for his entire life. He isn't even sure he wants a family of his own, though he knows his mother would be sorely disappointed if he didn't bring at least one grandbaby into the world.

Born a short two weeks after his brother Bill's second birthday, Charlie is also a Sagittarius. Gryffindors born under this sign are exuberant and full of good humor. They are intelligent, but often do not make the best of students, because they would rather be outside enjoying the fresh air or off studying on their own. They aren't good at diplomatic silence; if a teacher makes a mistake, the Gryffindor Sag will draw attention to it right away, usually loudly and in front of the entire class. At length. These students can get into trouble - their hot tempers make for easy dueling matches, and their impish senses of humor inspire a great many practical jokes. Still, they rarely mean anything malicious. They're too jovial to harbor malice. These Gryffindors are likeable extraverts, on good terms with practically everybody, and they generally do all right in the end. Many excellent Quidditch players come from this sign. [From Here]

5 RANDOM FACTS

‹‹ Although Charlie did not have an owl of his own while at school, this did not prevent him from keeping pets. Field mice, gnomes, stray cats, and injured birds were all adoptive pets of Charlie's at one point or another. He often kept them in small cages under the bed, nursing and caring for them until caught by Molly. He relied on his brothers to keep his pets a secret, and even help defend them. Though many of the pets were released, each had a name, a story, and a lot of love by the time they ventured back into the wild.

‹‹ Charlie assumes that he was only made a prefect because of his older brother. He certainly wasn't a model student, and when it came to enforcing the rules, Charlie was pretty relaxed. What harm could really come from a little bit of pranking? Still, he didn't refuse the position, especially because of how proud his parents were of the accomplishment. Not to mention, it afforded him a few liberties around the school, a power he found especially handy when certain bullies ran their mouths.

‹‹ In Romania, Charlie has lived in relative poverty. To do more so would have been impractical, and Charlie is nothing if not practical. He shared a small mountain cabin with a fellow Dragoneer, which only had two rooms (one of which was a bathroom). They slept on bunk beds or hammocks, only kept meager choices for food, and had no real entertainment other than dragons and their stories. Nonetheless, Charlie has immensely enjoyed his time in Romania, and will miss his 'Romanian Brother.' This lifestyle was entirely by choice, and so Charlie has been able to save up enough money over the years that he could live comfortably if he chose to. Unfortunately, two such cabins have already been burnt down by dragons, so Charlie doesn't see the point.

‹‹ Charlie is a terrible cook. He struggles to make things like spaghetti, and will eat beans straight out of a can because it is easy. If it weren't for magic, Charlie wouldn't cook at all, and even magic still leaves room (sometimes too much room) for error.

‹‹ Charlie has never had a date, and never kissed a girl. He enjoyed some relative popularity while at Hogwarts having been on the Quidditch team since his second year, but never made time for girls. Part of this is due to his extreme shyness when it comes to the fairer sex, but the other part is because he simply enjoys what he does too much to make time to fuss with dating.

‹‹ Eventually, Charlie was able to buy his own owl, but has always toyed with the idea of training other animals to deliver post. He also keeps a hawk, Păcală, and a raven, Luana, which he has been attempting to instill the values of delivery upon.

biography
Take a step back for heaven's sake. It seems so foolish in this light.
_______________________________

Born in December of 1972 to Molly and Arthur Weasley, Charlie couldn't have been more thankful for his huge family. The burrow was never quiet, always exciting, and there has always been trouble-making amongst the siblings. They may have never been wealthy in galleons, but there was never any shortage of love and support amongst them.

Since he could take his first steps, Charlie has always loved the outdoors, and always been on the heels of his older brother, Bill. The two share an inseparable bond, having shared countless adventures in and around the burrow as young children. They frustrated Molly to no end, who endearingly nicknamed them the "know-nothings," as neither would ever rat out the other when they found themselves in trouble for misbehaving.

Charlie loved to imitate Bill, who he looked up to and adored endlessly. Bill often took care of his siblings, so Charlie liked to pretend to help out as well. Even at age three, when Percy was born, Charlie would sometimes sit in the room with his infant brother to be sure he was 'safe' while he slept. Of course, Charlie wasn't actually doing much to be helpful, and may have thought of Percy as more of a pet than a little brother, but nonetheless he felt proud of himself for 'helping out.'

As Charlie grew up in the seventies, he may not have understood fully what was going on, but always knew there was a level of tension and worry exchanged between his parents when they would get the Daily Prophet, and sometimes heard them talking in hushed tones at night. Charlie was nine years old when Voldemort was defeated, and remembers the way his mother cried, and even his father wept with joy.

Charlie did not go to Hogwarts unprepared about what the other children might be like. He'd heard from Bill that Slytherins could be mean, and that they might tease him for being poor and a 'blood-traitor.' When Charlie stepped on to Hogwarts Express, he happily sat in a compartment with his brother, and blissfully ignored anyone that had anything to say about who he was. Charlie continued to take any and all teasing in stride, because he knew he had a loving family that many of the other students lacked. And that was all that really mattered, to Charlie.

That, and Quidditch, of course. Charlie fell in love with the sport his first year, and attended every single game. What cooler way to spend your days than flying about the Quidditch pitch, training as a team, and of course, basking in the glory of victory. He joined the Gryffindor team in his second year, taking up the position of Seeker and excelling. His best friends at school were Quidditch players, although he got on well with everybody, and has made a point of trying to stay in touch with Gryffindor alumni, despite his travels.

In his third year, Charlie elected to take the course Care of Magical Creatures, and fell in love. From then on, his time at Hogwarts was often devoted to spending as much time as possible outdoors, going on specially chaperoned trips into the forbidden forest to get to know various magical creatures. He formed a special bond with Rubeus Hagrid, and the two of them shared many long, starry-eyed conversations about dragons. Charlie also excelled at Herbology and, surprisingly enough, Potions.

In his fifth year Charlie was made a prefect, though he was never quite as good at it as his older brother. When he wasn't flying, Charlie spent a lot of time in the library reading about dragons. It was one of the few times that the boy ever found himself so capable of sitting still. O.W.L.S. came and went, and Charlie received an O in Care of Magical Creatures, and Herbology, an E in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Potions, Transfiguration, and Muggle Studdies, and an A in Divination and History of Magic. Charlie had hoped to receive his own owl, like Bill had, but the family couldn't afford one at the time. This disappointment is one of the only ones that really hit home for Charlie, as he always had considered himself to be the animal-lover of the family.

Once Barry Ryan graduated from Hogwarts, the position of Captain was left open on the team, and was somewhat thrust upon Charlie. Although he did fairly well as a captain, the authority was not something he particularly cared for, and in his seventh year, relinquished the position to Oliver Wood. He played out the rest of the year successfully, and received several offers from professional Quidditch teams. Although Charlie had considered playing professionally, he rejected the offers in order to follow his own passion: Dragons.

Immediately after graduating from Hogwarts, Charlie set off to Romania, where he studied dragons intensely for the next six months. It was a field where few dared to take up work, so Charlie was able to excel quickly, if only due to lack of competition. He became deeply engrossed in his work, but couldn't have been any happier. He loyally kept in touch with his family members, and loved sending gifts home for the holidays. He finally earned enough money to buy his own owl, a majestic snow owl he named Luceafăr.

Although Charlie has immensely enjoyed working directly with dragons, he has also endured his fair share of injuries because of it. He boasts a long scar on his left arm, having been simply knocked from his broom by a Hungarian Horntail. The tail had whipped at him with such force that the skin was broken, and although he allowed for some healing to be done, Charlie opted to keep the scar in order to remind himself what sort of profession he was dealing with. He also has been burned more than his fair share of times, but these injuries have always healed up fairly well, and he has never felt bad about enduring them. He works with dragons, after all. He would bee foolish to expect to experience no harm.

Charlie has recently felt a well of panic in the dragon world, as mother dragons are tending to lay stillborn eggs. Because of this epidemic, the future of dragons is threatened as a whole. Charlie is returning to London in order to research this strange phenomena, and although he expects that he will often travel back to Romania, or wherever else the dragons need him to be, he knows it is of utmost importance that they find a cause for this freak disease, and a cure for it, if dragons are to have hope for any sort of future.

‹‹ About one of the 5 random facts.

Roof is all set. Even with such a small cabin, fireproofing the structure took a full two days. If it wasn't such a necessary thing, I would have forgone the formality all together, but after losing one cabin to a Swedish Short-Snout a few months ago, it seems the best thing. Of course, a fireproof roof can't completely stop an angry dragon from destroying it, but at least we have the fire part covered.

Well, sort of.

Turns out, fireproof roofing can't quite save the cabin from Charlie S. Weasley's cooking. I swear, I only took my eyes off of the stove for half a second, and then there were flames. I'm lucky to have such a good natured cabin-mate. Mum certainly would have scolded me from here until the end of time. All of those flames for a little bit of toast! Who would have thought?
