Charlie Weasley is on fire ([info]_charlie_) wrote,

It's a might strange being holed up at the burrow. I've shoved Bill's bed out of the way to make room for a little desk, which is utterly covered in papers and disorganization. I am good at field work - getting my hands dirty and keeping dragons in line when need be. But sorting through this paperwork? Trying to figure out some way to organize all of this data that apparently no one has been looking at or keeping track of for the last century? I feel helpless, to say the least.

And when I say century, I'm really not kidding. Right now I'm examining a Romanian report documenting the birth of a Hungarian Horntail in 1897.

Wish I could make it out to catch up with some of you lot, but I've literally been buried in parchment. I haven't studied this hard since NEWTs. And here I thought that sort of work was behind me!

Can I interest anyone in getting drinks and/or a burger sometime this week? I know most of you are busy with your own lines, but this ol' boy could use some company.

Oh Charlie! That sounds exciting, even for paperwork! A lot of work though...you're brave to do what you do.

I haven't seen you in years and you probably barely remember me, but...I'd love to catch up sometime, if you're not too busy or don't get better offers or whatever.

Paperwork isn't brave. Fieldwork is. But no one was willing to do the paperwork, and I can't stand the idea that dragons might one day become extinct... so, here I am.

Of course I remember you. You were quite the brilliant Keeper, if I remember correctly from my early seeker years.

Do you want to join me for burgers and beer? I mean, it's an open invitation, after all. Oi, way to muck that one up...

If no one else is willing to step up and do something and you do? THAT is brave. Especially since it's something you clearly care about.

Oh, well, that is really sweet of you to say. I don't know about BRILLIANT but I remember you being a pretty good Seeker. Dougal would kill me, but sometimes I think he's got a bit too much...something for his own good.

That actually sounds lovely. If I wouldn't be in your way any. You know, if better people offer to step in or whatever, you know, I don't mind, I just wouldn't want to be a third wheel if you had better invitations is all...

No one wants to be bogged down with paperwork and research, that's all. But you're right, it's something I care about very much.

I was okay, not amazing. He has a little too much... what?

Well anyone can come that wants to. I wouldn't mind your company at all! So far I've had no other takers. We could catch up, or something, if it's just us.

Yes, and the fact that you are says something powerful about you. I'm glad you care. You need that in order to do a job, even when it's tough and exhausting and less fun than it used to be.

You were pretty good, from what I recall. He's...

Private to Charlie

A bit full of himself and a bit of a loose canon.

And...well, I'd love to catch up with you. Really.

No I wasn't

Private to Meaghan
Ah, well... that happens, sometimes.

Shall we call it a date then? Let's. It will be fun, I promise.

Don't forget not to sell yourself short, Charlie.

Private to Charlie

I like him, really, he's a good guy. Just...yeah.

That sounds really great. I don't even think the promise is necessary. Sunday maybe? We can see if I'm upset over not being picked for the National team.

I'm not selling myself short.

Great. I'll see you Sunday.

And no need to fret, you're a shoo-in.

Okay good. Better not be, or I'll come and ruffle your hair!

Charlie

Sounds fun!

I don't know about shoo-in, but thank you.

My hair? It's a tangled mess already.

Meg
You are most certainly a shoo-in. I can't think of a better Scottish player.

I'll make it even MORE of a tangled mess! I have my ways.

Charlie

Not really, but your vote of confidence helps. I'm always a mess at these sorts of parties. But my brother is there, and I'll have some moral support.

I'll send in a search party after it.

Thanks, Charlie. I appreciate the confidence, even if you haven't seen me play in years.

Hopefully it won't have to be cut out. Though my mother would loves to see me have another haircut.

Meg
I have followed your playing as best I could, through the papers.

Anything to make your mum happy, obviously.

Charlie

You have? Really? Even all the way in Romania?

Eee, no. How about we make Charlie happy, hm?

Meg
Of course I did. Why wouldn't I? I followed all of my favorite teammates. Even all the way in Romania.

Portree is one of your favorites? Really? I'm honored.

I can make that happen.

Charlie

Well, yes, but are there other reasons?

I sure hope so.

Meg
Well, it was always a favorite of mine, growing up. But now that you and Dougal play for them, I find it an especially attractive team.

That's fair enough. Obviously I've always thought of them as family, since I was literally always attached to them. But I'm happy that more people support them too, especially when friends do. You have a lot of player friends, so I imagine your loyalties get easily divided.

Yes, I'm generally bad at chosing a 'favorite' team. I can root for anyone, with the exception of maybe the Canons (that's Ron's territory). Especially the underdog. And especially the ones with Keepers like you.

That's a good attitude to have. I like loads of teams that my friends play for. Of course, at the end of the day I always want the Prides to win, but if we can't, it's nice to see The Harpies or Kestrels do. I have a little personal rivalry with Montrose because they're the other Scottish team, but still.

And thank you, I like to think of myself as a good Keeper.

Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for the Irish and Scottish teams. Not sure why. And Tutshill, I've never been able to explain my attraction to them.

Tutshill showed the most interest in me in my seventh year. That might have something to do with it? I don't think I'm very fancy.

Yes, he was Ron's best mate, so I got to hear all about it when Ron owled. Potter lead Gryffindor to some pretty outstanding victories.

Interesting...I wonder if he tried out in open tryouts? I should remember these things, it's not like Harry Potter isn't about the most well known name there is. Shows how scatter brained I am.

He's Ron's best mate is he? Interesting...strange to think that your brother has graduated Hogwarts.
