Holds a bachelor's degree in science. Occupation: Science Teacher {Physical Information} Age/Birthdate: 26/29th August Height: 6' 1'' Hair: A mop of unruly brown hair (that tends to stick up or fall where it pleases) makes him seem taller as it's usually spiked up - usually attempted to be controlled by gel. Will change to an odd mottled colour (mixture of, black, grey and at least three different browns, include a reddish and yellowish tinged) nearer the full moon. More often than not he will try to hide it with extra gel. Eyes: Brown Identifiable Markings: Long jagged scar along almost the full length of his right arm (wrist to middle of upper arm); another jagged scar on his left shin. Also has a scar on one side of his head but it's completely hidden by his hair. Played By: David Tennant {Abilities} Mental Health: Chris has a small amount of brain damage, that he received as a child, and thus is prone to headaches, as well as having memory loss from the first eight years of his life. He can sometimes have self-esteem and trust issues. Skills: Has excellent co-ordination, dexterity and has a photographic memory. Skilled in all areas of Science. Has a natural way with children of all ages. Is fluent in French, Scottish Gaelic and knows a good deal of Italian and Latin; due to scientific names. Plays the guitar. Extras: A ridiculous amount of books; acoustic and electric guitars; and two pairs of glasses. {Background} History: Born in Edinburgh, Scotland to a relatively normal family - his father being an Emergency Doctor and his mother a Nurse. The youngest of five, Chris was something of a surprise to his parents due to being born twelve years after his youngest sibling, Michael. Due to the age gap between him and his siblings (nineteen years between his brother, Andrew; seventeen between his eldest sister, Julia; fourteen between his other sister, Rachel) he was often left to his own devices and thus was a very quiet child, more than likely found stuck in a book. When he was eight, Chris' parents were killed in a car crash. The boy, himself, was in the car too, along with his twenty year old brother, Michael - who died later in hospital from his injuries. Chris spent weeks in hospital recovering from his own injuries; a head injury - resulting in a small amount of brain damage - broken right arm, dislocated left shoulder and broken left leg; and suffered post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). So much so, that his mind completely suppressed the incident - the rest of his family choosing to not tell him due to them worrying for the state of his mind, and, thus, even to this day he doesn't entirely remember, or know, what happened. This is probably more due to the slight degree of brain damage he suffered and he is prone to headaches as well as having the memory loss of his first eight years of life. Now an orphan, Chris' legal guardian became his elder brother, Andrew; who was 27 at the time. However, due to his brother being in the army he believed it would be best for his youngest sibling's guardianship be passed on to another sibling; despite having children of his own; due to Chris' conditon. This would end up being Julia; 25 at the time; who had immigrated to the US after marrying an American and had two children of her own (aged four and six). While the Courts sorted out legal and paperwork; and got into contact with Julia and her husband to see if it would be alright by them to take the boy; Chris was temporarily placed into an orphanage. Still recovering from his injuries and having slipped into the habit of not talking; it was unsure whether this was an affect of the brain damage or just due to his PTSD; he pretty much kept to himself, spending most of his time reading or drawing while there. A couple of weeks later, when everything was finally sorted out, Julia and her husband, Ben, came to collect him and took him back to America with them. They were informed to be careful with his condition and to not force him to speak - he should eventually do so himself. Chris was about eleven when he finally starting talking again, and even then it was only ocassionally. When he did speak, he did so with a stutter; caused by the slight brain damage he'd suffered; and had to go to speech therapy to correct it. He was often teased about it by other kids at school or even his own nephew and niece (who were only two and four years his junior). Which made him even more independant and withdrawn than he already was. His lack of friends didn't actually bother him because he didn't understand the need for them or what a 'friend' actually was. When his first transformation happened, at the age of 13, Chris was on his own; which was a usual thing; and panicked initially, keeping it to himself, not sure he believed that it had actually happened. For a while he believed this to be true until he was continuingly bullied by his younger but much bigger nephew and changed while backed into a corner - the 'flight or fight' reaction causing him to revert to his animal form of a cross fox; a particularly rare and beautiful colour variation of the red fox - cross foxes were also shyer and more docile than other red foxes (or their colour variations). The other boy had ran to his parents in fright and at first Ben had believed him to just have been a wild fox that had attacked his son - luckily, Julia stopped him harming the animal and when they found out it was Chris they had mixed reactions - from being appalled to scared to finally grudging acceptance. They agreed to continue looking after him until he was old enough to not need guardianship but after that, he was on his own. Afterwards, Chris threw himself into his studies, achieving straight A's across the board and easily getting a place in university. He trained as a medic to begin with, even going as far as being enrolled and all but graduated from Medical school but had a change of heart - perhaps from the fact that he was trying to live up to the family name instead of doing what he wanted - and instead, studied to be a teacher (in the field of science.) He was living in a dorm in uni when his guardianship ended and true to their word, he was on his own from now on. Due to not having any money, Chris was able to get a part time job working in a book store to make a small amount of money, enough to rent a small apartment and live off of while he completed his teacher training. Later, after hearing rumours about the town, he relocated there and took a job there, teaching science at the school. Personality: Quiet and unassuming, Chris tends to keep to himself for the most part. Independent and withdrawn by nature due to his upbringing. He can come across as aloof and condescending to people he doesn't initially like on first meeting but this is simply because he isn't great with people - except children; he has a rather natural way with kids and this is probably what lead him to become a teacher. Rarely, he'll like something on initial meeting (especially if attracted to them or in a more confident mood due to the moon phase) and he'll show his real self, which is, pleasant, caring and witty. He can come across as a bit of a smartarse due to his sarcastic nature - which he can use in a humorous or spiteful way depending on the person and/or circumstances. Likes: Science; astronomy; books/reading; sci-fi; indie/rock music; guitar music; kids; teaching and learning. Dislikes: Dogs; small spaces; bullies; snobs and arseholes; patronising people; smoking {Other Info:} Chris typically speaks in a transatlantic accent - often choice phrases will come out with a slight Scottish accent, and particularly if he's tired; stressed; drunk or just talking to another Scot, he'll revert to the Scottish accent. When his headaches get too bad, Chris has prescribed tablets to help numb the pain. {Optional Information} Goals/Dreams: To understand what he is. Talents or Hobbies: Plays the guitar. Enjoys reading Style of Dress: Casual smart - sometimes bordering on scruffy when out of work. Family: Parents; Richard & Alice; both deceased. Elder siblings - Andrew, Julia, Rachel and Michael (deceased). Nieces and nephews; most younger than him, one older and one the same age. Friends: None really, as he is new to the town and pretty much kept to himself where he used to live. Enemies: Unless his nephew counted, none really. Religion: None Astrological Sign: Virgo Soundtrack: Sexual Orientation: Straight Relationship Status: Single Past Relationships: A few but nothing too serious Sample RP Chris moved around the boxes, that seemed to be taking up all the space in his new apartment; which was small even without the boxes. He wondered if he'd get around to actually unpacking fully, although, he knew that he mostly hadn't unpacked due to being unsure how long he would actually be staying in the town - not because he didn't have the time. Which, admittedly, he hadn't as of late, what with getting sorted with the job and all, but it was definitely more the former that was hindering the unpacking. Sample Journal Entry Rumours don't necessarily mean truth but if this place has others like me, then maybe it'll be a good thing. I don't know what to expect though. I've kept what I am to myself for over ten years, the only people who know are Jules and her family - I don't think she ever did tell Andy or Rach about why she kicked me out, at least, neither of them have mentioned anything about it when I've visited them. Surely they'd not want to have anything to do with me if they knew their brother was a freak? Jules certainly doesn't. Course, this whole town could well be full of freaks. Or the rumours could be a load of bull and I'll be stuck in a smaller community where it's harder to kept to yourself. Joy.
