And that you always will
Oh you begged me to keep you
In that house on the hill

• Brian Connolly (50, father)
• Meghan Connolly, nee Connolly (43, mother, accountant, witch)
• Joey Connolly (30, half-brother)
• Aidan Connolly (28, half-brother)
• Sarah Connolly (25, twin sister)
• Kailyn Connolly (23, half-sister)
• Carly Connolly (22, half-sister)
• Tristan Connolly (21, half-brother)
• Gavin Connolly (19, half-brother)

• Maddison Rose Connolly (13, half-sister)

Having just turned 18, Meghan met Brian Connolly on a family trip to America. Brian was tall, handsome, and extremely suave, and swept Meghan off of her feet. When the family trip was over, Meghan shocked the family by refusing to return to Ireland with them. After just three weeks, she'd made the biggest (and craziest) decision of her life: she wanted to get married.

Her family wouldn't hear it, but Meghan was stubborn. Before she knew it, she'd slipped away from their hotel in the middle of the night to meet Brian at the edge of a field. He'd promised her that his family would be more than accepting. They would love her and treat her like one of their own. He brought her to a small community just outside of town. As promised, they accepted Meghan with open arms. There was just one caveat: Brian was already married.

Although she had quickly realized that she was in over her head, Meghan was sick with emotion, and refused to give up on her new found love for Brian. She swallowed her pride, and also her identity. She had walked blindly into an extremely religious, polygamous community of practicing Fundamentalists. Knowing full well that being a witch meant being ousted from the community, Meghan threw away her wand and vowed to keep the secret for the rest of her life.

Meghan was Brian's second wife, and less than a year later she gave birth to twins: Sean and Sarah. Her relationship with Brian's first wife, Susan, was extremely strained, and the two often seemed to be competing for Brian's love. When Sean and Sarah showed early signs of magic, Meghan always laughed it off as a weird coincidence. Within a few years, Brian had taken another wife, and Meghan bitterly bit her tongue.

Sean and Sarah grew up surrounded by family, but always had a close bond with one another. They had more siblings than anyone else in the community, and Brian had the second highest number of wives, maxing out at five. He seemed to take a new wife every other year, and had several children with each of them.

Sean and Sarah were equally thrilled when they got the letters from the American school of Salem. But this caused a rift within the community. Meghan could no longer keep her secret, and Brian and his other wives quickly became enraged for the blasphemy she brought to their community. In the middle of the night, Meghan once again fled, this time taking her children with her. For a short time, they lived in poverty, until Meghan was finally able to relocate her family in Ireland, and bring her children home to meet their grandparents for the first time.

Walk down this road; When the road gets rough, I fall down, I get up. I am what I am...A family man

Sean has always known that he had been blessed with good looks, even if he would never admit to it. His mother always told him that he was the spitting image of is father: one of the most sought-after members of the fundamentalist community in which he grew up. Sean and his sister both sport the same dark, loose curls of their father, and the same endlessly dark eyes. This caused some distance between Sean, Sarah, and their mother upon their return to Ireland.

Although he only stands 5'9" in height, Sean sports strong, broad shoulders with well toned arms from years of hard work, both in the Fundamentalist compound, and several years of intense training for Quidditch. He's always felt his hands were a bit awkwardly small, but they have never let him down, and are thick-skinned and covered in calluses. Sean isn't bulky, but is toned. He runs every morning, using the long jogs both to clear his head and warm his muscles.

Sean has a deep love for flannels. He loves comfortable, warm shirts and soft fabrics. He was guilty of keeping his childhood blanket, sleeping with it nightly until he was ten years old. This had less to do with attachment to the blanket on a sentimental level, and more to do with the softness and warmth that it provided. Sean would have hated to take a risk on a less adequate blanket.

His sense of style can be a little metrosexual. He blames this on having had a fashion-conscious twin sister as he grew up. During the years they spent together at Hogwarts, she gushed over clothes that she found and wanted him to wear. Now, when Sean goes shopping, he tends to buy things that he thinks Sarah would approve of. He doesn't shy away from hats, and loves to layer his clothing. He doesn't wear jewelry often, but likes to accessorize with watches, scarves, and even has several pairs of reading glasses so that hey might be able to match whatever outfit he is wearing when he needs them.

Although he isn't especially shy, Sean does keep to himself for the most part. He is a quiet individual, and always wears a soft smile and a relaxed posture. When he is happy, he has a laugh that is quiet, yet manages to fill a room at the same time. When he sits, he unintentionally curls into himself, especially if seated on the floor, where he will pull his legs up to his chest, fold his arms over his knees, and rest his chin on his arms.

personality
I been alone, always down. No one cared to stay around. I never change, I never will. I'm so afraid the way I feel
_______________________________

If one were to ask to shake Sean's hand, he at first comes across as quiet, shy, and extremely humble. He always wears a smile, and can be very bright and chipper, especially around his friends. In the public eye, Sean comes across as extremely focused on his sport, although he knows when to smile and wave at the crowd. In interviews he answers questions kindly, but rarely embellishes more than what was asked of him.

Family is something that has a deep-rooted value to Sean. Having grown up on a compound where everyone was treated as a brother or sister, and being constantly surrounded by a family and it's love, taught him very important values that are hard to let go of. With over ten half-brothers and half-sisters, he was never short of anyone to play with, and all of them shared the same life values that he did. This made leaving the compound extremely difficult. People on the outside were different. They had different ideas, and magic especially was a new and terrifying experience that lead to a conflicted sense of identity plagued by feelings of guilt.

Beneath the surface is a darker, more conflicted Sean. While he had deep love for the family he grew up around, their rejection harbored within him a strong fear of abandonment. After all, he had not chosen to be a wizard. Being a wizard had chosen him! Yet, the Fundamentalists could not see it that way. To them, Sean was a gateway to Hell, and they would not allow for that within their walls.

Some see Sean as inherently clingy. Although he never approved of his father's polygamy, he often has difficulty letting go of a doomed relationship. When he falls for a girl, he falls fast and hard, and holds on for dear life. He has a difficult time separating love from lust, and lust from need for acceptance. Once in a relationship, Sean will pour his heart out to his significant other, and will do anything to keep that person close, even if it means changing who he is.

Sean can be very generous, both with his friends and his lovers. He enjoys showering people with gifts, and often pays close attention to detail to things that people say in order be able to find the perfect gifts for them. He doesn't need a birthday or anniversary or any other event in order to surprise someone. In fact, his favorite gifts to give are the ones that have no reason behind them all other than to make a person smile.

Hufflepuff Cancers are oriented first and foremost to the home and to all things domestic. The ultimate homebodies of the magical world, they are at their happiest when they are puttering in the kitchen, stirring up food in magical cauldrons or whipping up soothing, healing potions. These wizards desperately need to be needed. If cut off from family, a circle of close friends, or a flock of wounded birds to tend, they will get anxious and depressed, unless their energies are directed somehow to a cause or a person which finds them good use. They are caring and compassionate, and are excellent listeners. [From here]

5 RANDOM FACTS

‹‹Aside from Quidditch, Sean has struggled to find other hobbies. He takes interest in a lot of things, and often excels to a degree. However, his interests change often enough that he has never pursued any of these interests for more than a year. He has been a member of almost every club at Hogwarts, and has tried several activities both Muggle and Magical alike once leaving school, including various sports, arts, and even traveling. His most recent hobby is cooking, and he fancies opening his own classy restaurant. It is doubtful this plan will last through the fall.

‹‹Sean no longer believes in religion as he once did, but still has held onto many of the values he learned in the Fundamentalist compound. These health values include abstaining from drugs and alcohol (including cigarettes), eating meat sparingly, not drinking coffee or tea (although he does drink herbal, decaffeinated tea),

‹‹Although in his past Sean never placed much value on material things, it has become a weakness of his. It is almost as if he is trying to fill the void in his life left open by the loss of his sister with precious objects. He has a lot of guilty pleasures and actually really loves to shop for clothes, accessories, electronics (he loves muggle means for entertainment), and household decorations.

‹‹After leaving the compound for the second time, Sean went through a very dark period in which he considered suicide. He was afraid that the Wizarding community would not accept him back, just like the Fundamentalists had not. He became very withdrawn, planned how he was going to do it, and wrote a long suicide note. Luckily, his half-brother Aidan was found the note before Sean was able to attempt, and talked his brother out of it. Although Sean is doing much better, especially now that he has been fully embraced by the Wizarding world and Quidditch, he still has very dark periods in which the suicidal thoughts arrise. He usually deals with them by calling Aidan.

‹‹When Jessica Moran went through a dark period of her own, Sean was the one that saw all of the same struggles going through her mind. It tore him up to see her destroying herself emotionally, and so he reached out to her. Although he wasn't able to stop her from going through a self-destructive period, eventually he was able to convince her to rejoin Quidditch and would drop anything if he saw her so much as frown.

‹‹Although Sean's mother's maiden name is Connolly, and her married name is also Connolly, she did not marry in to her own family. As it turned out, the Connolly's of Ireland and the Connolly's of Colorodo were not related, even distantly. However, the similar names was one of the ways that Brian explained to Meghan that their meeting was 'fate.'

‹‹Sean's favorite cousin is Seamus Finnigan. Their mothers are sisters, and it was Mairead that accepted Meghan back into the family with such open arms. When making the transition into wizarding society, Sean was more than happy to have a friendly cousin in his corner. Although he loves all of his cousins the same, Seamus has always been the one he's felt closest to.

biography
Time casts a spell on you, but you won't forget me. I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me.
_______________________________

Sean cannot remember a time in his childhood that he was ever left alone. Growing up on a religious compound meant a constant sense of community, whether playing amongst his brothers and sisters, or working amongst the men, or praying with the entire congregation. Despite the things that happened in following years, Sean still remembers these times amongst the happiest of his life.

Although family values were extremely important to him, Sean could not deny that he had a closer bond with his twins sister over the rest of his siblings. Having shared the womb, there was something inseparable about their personalities and behaviors. However, their father sometimes treated them differently. Loathe to punish Sarah for any misdeeds, sometimes he would strike Sean in her place. 'Women are our most precious gifts,' he would tell Sean, whose sense of identity was plagued with conflicted feelings, mostly of guilt, about being born as a boy.

In the summer leading up to his eleventh birthday, a great barn own arrived on the compound with a letter in his mouth. Many of the citizens at the compound were terrified, and whisperings were quick to stir. Thankfully, the barn owl only dropped the letter, and felt away. In fact, there were two: one for Sean and one for Sarah. The woman that picked the letters up looked accusingly at Sean as if he'd done something terrible. It is a look that Sean has never forgotten.

The letters were taken to Sean's father, and the fallout that ensued was one of the most difficult things that children could be put through. Brian took the letters to his second wife and demanded an explanation. Meghan calmly tried to explain the truth to her husband: she had been born a witch, and that meant that her children possessed magic as well. Brian was outraged, and stormed out of the house, refusing to speak to her. Sean remembers his mother throwing herself at his door, begging and pleading through tears for him to talk to her.

After a week of being given the cold shoulder from the community, Meghan gave up. Sean and Sarah had been kept indoors the entire week, given only scraps for food, and forced to listen to their mother's constant crying. Finally collecting her children in the dark of the night, Meghan decided to flee the compound, turning her back on the religion that had accepted her so readily twelve years before, and now rejected her in an instant.

With no money, Meghan was reduced to begging strangers for a place to stay for 'just one night.' In the morning, she was able to use a telephone book to locate and call her only remaining American relative. Over several weeks, Sean and Sarah traveled with their mother from place to place before making it to the American relative's friend. From there, the twins got their first taste of magic: traveling by Floo back to Ireland, where for the first time, they were able to meet their grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Little paperwork had to be done to transfer Sean and Sarah's eligibility from Salem to Hogwarts. Having never been around magic before, the twins were equally terrified and excited to leave their old world behind and enter a new one. They stood on Platform 9 3/4 clutching one another's hands, and stepped on the train together.

Although their first few years were full of wonder and adventure, both Sean and Sarah had a difficult time adjusting to their new lives. The people at Hogwarts were very different than those that they'd grown up with, and while people were (for the most part) accepting, it was hard to drop everything they'd grown up with for this new lifestyle. The twins were introverts, relying almost entirely on their friendship for one another. Although Sarah took more naturally to magic, she struggled with her environment more significantly, and often found herself yearning for her family in America.

In the summer after their third year, Sarah announced that she had no desire to return to Hogwarts, and that instead she wanted to return to the compound on which she'd grown up. Unable to fathom the loss of his sister, Sean, too, decided to return to America. Shortly before their 14th birthday, the twins traveled by Floor for what promised to be the last time, and then hitchhiked back to the compound, throwing themselves at their father's feet and begging for forgiveness. Both children denounced magic, and promised that it was purged from their lives forever.

While Sarah was accepted readily into the community, the adjustment was more difficult for Sean. Without their mother, they were placed into the care of Brian's first wife, Susan. She was especially hard on Sean, constantly questioning his dedication to their religion and the community as a whole. Things did not get easier, but for a year they persisted. Sean began to feel that his father was trying to drive him out of the community, seeing him as a threat to the other men on the compound.

Sean was more than surprised when his older half-brother, Aidan, approached him about leaving the compound. Their oldest brother was already married at 20, and had two kids of his own. But Aidan seemed to be frozen out, not only by their father, but by the prophet and head of their compound as well. Sean tried hard to get his sister to come with them, but she staunchly refused. Talk was already happening about her arranged marriage to an older man, and Sarah was determined to prove that she'd made her choice regarding witchcraft.

When Aidan and Sean left the compound, they were told never to return. Aidan traveled North, to live with distant relatives, while Sean made his way to the Floo that he'd thought he'd never see again. The brothers, bound by their strength to leave the community, write letters to one another often. Although Aiden remained extremely wary of witchcraft, he eventually seemed to become more curious and accepting of it.

Sean returned to Hogwarts, beginning his beginning his fourth a year behind his classmates. With a lot of pent up energy and frustration, he made the decision to try out for his house Quidditch team. With a lot of determination and emotion behind his try out, Sean managed to secure a place on the starter team as a beater, with a real knack behind the bat.

Sean's OWL and NEWT scores were only average, with his true passion lying now in Quidditch. With the team, he finally found the acceptance that he'd been craving his whole life... a sense of family and community that he'd lost when he'd been exiled from the compound. For his teammates, he would do anything.

At the start of his fifth year, Sean got a solitary letter from his sister. She was married, and with her first child. The letter was distant, and did not ask about how him or their mother in any way. Sean wrote back several times, taking care to use Muggle post instead of owl. At first he tried to convince her to leave the compound, other times he offered to come back to be with her. But Sarah never answered, and Sean never heard from her again. His classwork grades slipped so badly that year that he was nearly suspended from the team. Luckily, his teammates convinced him to pull it together.

Sean lacked the ambition to do much after school. Relying on the only consistent thing in his life, Quidditch, he went to open try outs, where he was given offers by two different teams: reserve for Kenmare, or starter for Puddlemere. Although the starter position was tempting, Sean decided on Kenmare based on how close the team was to his family home. Being able to practice and go home to visit his mother meant the world to him.

In 1994, Sean was selected for the Irish World Team, who went on to win the World Cup. He became extremely close to his teammates at this time, as the intense training they'd gone through in order to prepare for the Cup forced them to band together like no team he'd ever played for before. There were times that he felt like he could read some of their minds. Standing at the Top Box, helping support Aidan Lynch, as they received the Cup was one of the shining moments of Sean's life.

‹‹ About one of the 5 random facts.

Celebrating a good win seems like such a staple for Quidditch, and yet, I always find myself hesitant to go to a party. Don't get me wrong, I love a good celebration, and especially after a particularly grueling game. It's just that everyone is so intent on drinking until they can't stand up. I always feel like the odd ball out just moping in the corner with no one to talk to.

I wrote yet another letter to Sarah. I keep telling myself that this year, after the cup, I'm going to visit. i'm just so afraid to go back to the compound. The way they looked at me and Aidan the day we left... even Sarah, in her hand-sewn dress with no shoes on, sitting on the porch of Aunt Susan's house, looking at me like I was Satan himself. I just don't think I could bear to go through that again.

I wonder if she had a boy or a girl. I wonder what it looks like. It would be almost ten years old by now. She probably has at least a few more. I wonder if she's happy...
