"Questions, yeah," he muttered tiredly. Probably an understatement. He was sure he had questions too, somewhere deep down. Right now, all his energy was put into putting one foot in front of the other, navigating in general, and confirming that they were in the right place and the right time. Everything seemed... normal. David was so unbelievably okay with normal right now.
Her thanks was met with a small smile, one entirely too amused. "I don't even think we've broken even yet, considering all the times you've saved me." David was grateful, truly grateful, for all the ways she had saved him, allowing him the luxury of ever doing the same for her in return. It wasn't much of a stretch to think that without Syd, in that future they'd just skipped to? That other version of himself he'd seen before he was killed in a heartbeat...
No. David wasn't thinking about it. That future wouldn't exist any more, not now.
Seeing his room, seeing his best more importantly, had a relieved sigh coming from him. "I hate time travel," he practically grumbled, collapsing face first into the bed and groaning. "Never again," was the muffled addition into the pillow before he amended, turning his face so he could be heard better. "After Rudy." Because if he could prevent that from happening? Okay. More than okay, definitely -- yes -- 100 percent. After that? Never again.
"Take notes," he murmured, eyes closing as he vaguely gestured to the journal in Syd's hold. And, before fading completely, there was a swift, "love you," before David was out cold.
