Eyes slid shut at the pat, teeth gritting just slightly. He was doing it to get a rise of of her, she was certain. And if he was willing to sacrifice her friends any time she stepped out of line... It was a point he was trying to make, to let her know that she was out of her depths and helpless.

"He'd kill them just to send a message to me? He wants them, too. You said..." She couldn't listen to anything Kol said, that was dawning on her. Couldn't trust it, at any rate.
