If it was the latter, it had the desired effect. They got the hint. And Elena's eyes slid open. "I don't need a cocktail," she answered. Which she supposed meant she should be joining him.
Pushing herself up, Elena moved to the edge of the pool, dipping a toe in. The water was cold, but she'd been sitting in the sun for a little while by that point. She could handle it.
