Damon looked away from Elena instantly, not wanting to see the look of anger, or rejection that Elena was no doubt going to throw at him. Instead he whipped a stake from up his sleeve and pinned Katherine against the wall, holding it over her heart. "When this is all over, I'm going to drive a stake through your heart," he said, his voice low and menacing.

Stefan moved to pull him back. He knew that Damon wouldn't kill Katherine when Elena felt everything she did, but at the same time, it wasn't a risk he wanted to take either.
