I am sick of feeling like I don't have friends at school. Adults are usually kind enough to me, but I want people to actually like me, rather than fear me or ignore me... is it so hard to be treated reasonably? Some of my own house are just beyond pathetic. Still, if it carries on, at least being out of school will afford me some freedom, at last. Maybe I'll get away.

Whilst starting my packing for school the other day, it occurred to me that I don't really know what I want to do after Hogwarts. I don't just mean career wise, either - I'd like to feel like what I end up doing has a purpose, rather than sitting behind a desk all day and going home at night. I just don't know what my purpose is yet, I suppose.

I also quite like the idea of going travelling for a while. My brothers both did that when they left school and had the most amazing time, but there are so many interesting places in the world that one might want to go to, where to start?

I've been having a hard time deciding what I would like to do after Hogwarts as well. Perhaps our NEWT results will put us on the right path.

Possibly, especially if results happen to be a pleasant surprise... but I keep looking at my sixth year transcripts and thinking that my subjects are on the wide-ranging side.

If you have the chance to travel, take it, love! Only young once.

That's what I was thinking. If I got stuck down in a particularly demanding job, finding the time to go would be difficult.

Tracey got me a puffskein. Maybe you can get an owl and another familiar? I mean, like Mrs. Potter said, owls might be seen as neccessary...

Travelling is a good thing to do in my experience. Being able to view and experience other cultures is always a good thing.

Better than being one of those xenophobic idiots who sit at home going on about how England is the best country in the world and how all foreigners are useless, I reckon.

This is true and there are some amazing sites out there.

Any recommendations are of course welcome, particularly from someone such as yourself who possesses an appreciation of such things.

Well I do suppose it depends what you are interested. I myself are quite fond of the historical aspects to the Pantheon in Athens, the Vatican City the Imperial City in China among others were interesting.

I must admit that the idea of China sounds really good. It's not exactly a common tourist destination or anything.

It isn't but it really is quite fascinating.

Definitely go off and travel. I'd say to first go to the place you've always wanted to travel to since you were little and go from there. Or if you want to really live on the wild side, grab a map, close your eyes, and randomly put your finger down and go there.

Knowing my luck, if I tried that technique I'd end up in Bolton or something. I might see if anyone wants to go travelling as well, because that might help narrow it down. Julian's always on about going back to Thailand.
