HALNE GALLAGHER | ||||
| Lead me from hell Winter winds have gone and faded I told the skies of thoughts of gray Tears upon my pillow laying A child lost to pain I pray for better days Lift me up Lead me from this place Let your love be mercy on my face ![]() Physical Description: Halne is a natural redhead, with pale freckles that go along with it, but she likes to dye her hair blonde occasionally. (Especially now with modern hair dyes! Woo!) Her eyes are a striking color that in some lights look blue and in others look green, or even both colors at once. Halne stands at about 5'7" and weighs 125 lbs. She is long limbed and has a lithe body, almost like a ballet dancer. Halne's wings are a soft white color with tawny gold tips on each individual feather. In sunlight, the tips of her feathers shimmer a soft gold color. | |||
PERSONALITY & DEMEANOR Rising up, I changed before your eyes BLOOD TYPE: AB+ Angelic blooded RACE: Vampire, Gabriel House POWERS: All the normal Gabriel House powers. Special Skills/Abilities: Any musical instrument that Halne has had any interest in, she has taken the time to master. Music is her escape, and she wants to spread that peace to others through teaching. Writing and journaling has also kept her somewhat sane through it all, and so she also has a great gift for composition, as long as you don't mind the depth of sorrow. Personality: Halne is a very sweet person. She is nearly always polite and while she is not outwardly or overly friendly, she is almost never rude. She is calm and rarely gets angry. She has a great respect for the world and other people. However, if she feels strongly enough about a situation, she will rise to the occasion and stand up for what is right. Halne is also naturally charming and does not have to work hard for people to like her. In stressful situations, Halne listens to both her intuition and the logical side of her and uses them both to decide how to react. She is a pretty levelheaded woman, but is largely quiet and reserved. Once she trusts someone, she opens up little by little and thus has very few real friends, if any. On the inside, Halne is heartbroken and struggles daily with her existence, thus living a very unhappy afterlife. PERSONAL WEAKNESSES: Self loathing: Halne hates what she has become. She hates her existence, and sometimes she even pushes herself to the limits of feeding, weakening herself so she doesn't have to hurt someone. Her personality now is at complete odds with how she felt in her human life, to this day. She has never gotten over the pain of losing her family and sees it as somehow her fault. Gabriel House weaknesses: Halne cannot wear gold or silver jewelry, cannot go into places blessed with Holy or white magics, and white magic has now become a bain of her existence. Oh yeah, and the people she feeds from usually run screaming from her because her bite hurts like hell (pun intended), which makes finding repeat donors impossible. Also, for Halne, her weakness against white magics is much stronger than most other Fallen since she used to be a born white witch. Compassionate: Because of Halne's temperament and her propensity towards valuing all life, she is almost like an outcast of Gabriel House. While she (almost) never breaks any house rules, she struggles internally with everything that the House represents. This has made it very hard for her to get along with others of the Fallen beyond her sire and childe. Faith: Halne still believes in God, no matter what anyone else has tried to tell her. She will never relent and still considers her faith something worth fighting and dying for. She still prays, even as much as it is physically painful for her to invoke something Holy like that. Either way, she thinks the nose bleeds, headaches, and blackouts are worth it. She won't be moved on the subject. Unrequited: For whatever reason, Halne has noticed that over time she has developed feelings for her sire -- feelings she was not sure how to deal with, seeing as she has never really been attracted to a woman before in her life! She was always with her husband before she was turned, and ever since her life was ripped from her by Melisande, she has not really known where she stands. Her sire remains oblivious, of course, and Halne has next to no hope that she will have the courage to tell her. And it is unlikely that Melisande will ever figure it out. It’s not a consuming emotion, but its definitely something that bothers Halne nonetheless. PERSONAL STRENGTHS: Gabriel House strengths: Wings, fast flight, and mental commands. Also, mental resistance a step above normal humans. All of these have grown slightly stronger with Halne's age, but she is still not as strong as some. Levelheaded: Halne has a decent intuition, but her strength comes from using this with her calculating, logical mind. This gives her the ability to keep calm in high stress situations. Polite/Sweet: Halne may hate herself, but she'd never take it out on anyone else. She's kind and compassionate and believes that all life has value. She is always polite and considerate of others. That is of course, so long as you don’t mess with her sire or her childe. | ||||
PERSONAL HISTORY Out of darkness, standing in the light Family: Ailene Molony: Mother, born white witch, deceased Feidhelm Molony: Father, church attendant, deceased Hugh Gallagher: Husband, harbour worker, deceased Sean and Siobhan Gallagher: Son and daughter, deceased Melisande: sire, Ophanim, 336 History: Born Brigid Molony on September 2nd, 1851 in New York City, New York to Ailene and Feidhelm Molony, first generation Irish immigrants to America. Brigid was thrust into a world that largely discriminated against her family and those like her. She lived with her family in an Irish quarter of the city, hoping that the theory of safety in numbers would hold true. Her father Feidhelm was a very devout Catholic and devoted much of his time working in a local church directly underneath the priest. Her mother Ailene was a master level white witch and while most of their close friends knew this, she kept it as much a secret from the outside world as possible. Brigid herself was a born white witch, and as soon as she started exhibiting signs, her mother began teaching her, helping her to build her understanding of magics. Brigid believed that her magic and her faith went hand in hand, and had no qualms with performing small spells for people in need, even if they were only minor blessings. And despite how poorly they were treated, Brigid grew to be a sweet, loving and compassionate person who genuinely loved and cared for the people around her. As Brigid grew up, she became quite attached to a young Irish boy named Hugh Gallagher. Their families were very close and it wasn't long before their fates were joined. When Hugh turned 18 and Brigid was just 16, they were married. Their families helped them get a start, but life was not easy for them. They weren't well off by any means, but they had one thing that mattered above all else: they had love, and they had each other. Hugh worked long hours at the harbor and Brigid continued to learn about her magics with her mother, keeping to her family and the church. Not long after being married, in 1868 Hugh and Brigid had a son, who they named Sean, meaning "God's gracious gift." Brigid had never imagined a love greater than that she felt for her husband. But becoming a mother changed that. Brigid was a devoted and caring mother. Just after Sean turned 3, she and Hugh had their second child, a little girl they named Siobhan, meaning "God is gracious." Brigid and Hugh raised their children as best they could with what they were given, which wasn't much. Thanks to Brigid's magics, though, they were never in danger of dying from illness and Brigid had blessings and wards cast all over her family and their living place. For a long, long time, life was good and Brigid's world was uncomplicated. And then in 1877, the day came that an unknown woman came around their neighborhood. She introduced herself as Melisande and eventually was widely known and liked. Brigid eventually learned the truth about her and Melisande turned her against her will. She told Brigid, leaving nothing out, about what she had become. Brigid could not even go home because of her own magical wards. She could not hold her children or embrace her husband. She couldn't go to church. She could not use her magic, what had become such an intrinsic part of her. And what was more, she was now a part of a family whose rules were very strict, with no room for error. If that wasn’t enough, Brigid had crippling headaches, with no understanding as to where they came from and no idea how to prevent or alleviate them. She had no way of realizing that she was experiencing the mental, emotional, and physical repercussions of being turned and losing her innate magical abilities. After everything, Brigid's heart, even though it wasn't beating anymore, was broken. She would not smile, and rarely talked to anyone for fear of exposing her fangs. She grew to hate her existence with almost as much passion as she had loved her family in life. She changed her name to Halne, but kept her husband's family name as a tribute to a life she would no longer live. Halne was a name that meant nothing special to her, so she figured it was fitting. After the first twenty or so years of tutelage under the care of Melisande, Halne left the area and moved from place to place, never stopping in an area for longer than a couple weeks. She hated feeding, and hated hurting people just to survive. What's more, she hated the strange attraction that she felt for her sire, and it was better that she stay away from the other woman. Halne eventually traveled to Europe and continued her dance through all the many countries. The only thing that helped her was music and writing. She began to write and to play various instruments, taking lessons where it was convenient by means of using her developing mental powers to coerce masters to teach her. The years fled by, and Halne became world weary. Eventually, when more than a century had passed since Halne was made a Fallen, she was elevated to the level of Elohim. Which, having traveled much of the world made her an invaluable asset as a spy. She continued to travel, using her mental skills to get people to divulge things that they normally wouldn't. Halne and Melisande kept in regular correspondence, the former quite glad of the distance that her sire respected as she was still conflicted over the way she felt about her. Until, of course, it came out that Halne had no intention of ever creating a childe. Her sire did not enjoy this information -- she never could understand why Halne didn’t see her vampirism as a gift. Without so much as a reason why, all correspondence with her sire ceased. If Halne could not see that her life was a gift, then Melisande did not see the need to speak to her any longer. Halne was hurt, definitely, but there was little she could do about the matter, even when she tried to use her contacts she’d made. For the next few centuries, she remained in Europe, trying to dig up anything the elders needed, all the while trying to locate her sire, to make amends. Her search proved unfruitful, until that day that Halne finally heard that her sire Melisande had settled in Scarlet Oak. She made the decision to move there, if only for no other reason than that she was weary of running around. She settled in quite smoothly, taking a job at a local newspaper as a columnist. On the side, she helped children learn how to play instruments, many of which she had mastered. Halne still traveled every month or so, trying to keep up her job as an Elohim, but she had begun to enjoy having a home again. She only traveled a total of one week per month, to include information gathering of the local area and finding places to feed as far away from her home as her wings could carry her. Since the Light of May: Now that she no longer has to hide who and what she is, Halne feels slightly less paranoid. But, despite all the legislations that have been passed, she still sees herself as a wretched creature unworthy of acceptance. She continues to leave the local area to feed, unless there is a hunter nearby from whom she can buy blood. Halne has become very slightly more easy going with the whole "smiling" thing, since now she doesn't exactly have to hide her fangs. |
