This might be going beyond your professional bounds as an Auror, but if somebody were to hypothetically disappear, and if that hypothetical person happened to be a marked ST, is there any possibility that the DMLE had something to do with it? Hypothetically, I mean, I might not actually be asking this question. Except that I need to know the answer.

What you mean by nobody and if there is reason she'd not want to be found by you. By saying a lot of us, I'm assuming you mean most of her friends are at least looking which means that she simply didn't just decide to up and take a vacation to be rid of you.

Let's see... She may be off the grid because there are Death Eaters running around unless they have managed to be captured, but since I haven't seen any snarky journal entries about how the Ministry is managing to actually do it's job, I doubt they have been.

As for why the Ministry would pick her up, there are too many reasons for that. She has a mouth on her and doesn't know when to shut up to authority, so she could have said something to piss them off and got picked up. There is also that brand she has on her arm which gives them the power to drag her in if she's perceived as part of any sort of suspicious activity or as having information to it. With her brand, her wand activity and her locations will be combed over and if any look suspicious, she'll be dragged in. Especially as they are all too eager for an excuse to take an ST's wand away.

Is that enough possibilities for you?

If they picked her up for mouthing off or minor inappropriate spell usage, she would likely be in holding at the Ministry. If... She was on her last warning in regards to curfew. If she got caught out after hours, she was going to be sent to- to- [handwriting gets shakey] Azkaban. ~~She can't be there, she can't~~

Talk to Zacharias Smith. He's friends with her as well and may be able to find out if she's in the Ministry. Her tracker should be able to get you a location if she's in the UK, but talking someone into giving you that information with your cheery personality wouldn't likely work.

~~I can't believe I'm doing this~~ At one point, Luna Lovegood was looking into figuring out how the tracking charms were done. I'm not sure how far she got with it, but there may be a slim possibility that she might know enough about the charmwork involved that you may be able to figure out how to track her yourself. It's a longshot, but it would mean not dealing with the Ministry on the matter.

I could ask the llamas if they've seen her, but I doubt that would help much at all. There are people in better positions to help than I am. You can talk to them faster than I could get back to England, not to mention the suspicion that would arise and not help you at all if I came back early to stroll into the Ministry and go rifling around their files for information.

If the Ministry doesn't have her, for the love of God, report her missing. With those Death Eaters running about...

If they have her and she's in that place... Please contact me and Zach. She doesn't deserve to be in there. ~~Nobody does~~

in my strictly off the record professional opinion, if a suspected terrorist went missing and the DMLE had anything to do with it, a filed missing person's report would very quickly give you a clue. either they can locate him or her based on tracking magic or they can't. if they say they can't the ST is either out of the country or the DMLE is lying.

as to whether it's possible, I don't know. hypothetically, anything is possible. realistically, I don't think I want to accept that the DMLE is involved in missing persons.
