| Bio: | Personality: Though he may sit high on Hell's hierarchical ladder, most of the time Leviathan does not make his presence overtly known. Watching over Hellmouth is one of his primary duties, and there are far more people in Hell wanting to get out than there are people outside wanting to get in. Thus, he spends most of his time in Hell, watching people pass through while demons check in and check out of Hell Hotel at their leisure. Every demon who has checked out of Hell at least once before will know Leviathan and his lazy smile - he can be as indulging as he can be reliable when a demon staying on Earth past curfew finds his scaly ass being hauled back down by the gatekeeper. The job is not exactly an exciting, stimulating one, and as a result Leviathan may seem aloof and disinterested. But he is intrinsically a demon - it is in his nature to be deceitful and manipulative. Tormenting people, physically and mentally, is somewhat of a specialty - especially after centuries of being cooped up in Hell. He doesn't answer to many, but if he is instructed by them to do something, he will carry it out - in his own way, in his own time, of course. All that nonsense demons spout out about going back to Heaven and wanting to be with God again - Leviathan finds it laughable. There were two Gods - the one up there and the one down here - and he doesn't answer to the one up there. There's a special place in his non-existent heart for Envy. Sins were cute like that. Leviathan has resurfaced after recent disturbances in Hell. He is not interested in who was causing the mayhem, nor was he interested in why, or how, or when it would be resolved. He would just like some peace and quiet. Ironically enough, he thought he would be able to find it here on the living plane - though, with this many demons out up here as well, he might be proven wrong. History: Leviathan could be any number of things depending on what source material is consulted; from a fire-breathing crocodile to a monstrous serpent to a horned whale with brilliant, effulgent eyes. Of course, neither of those options were particularly viable when one wanted to blend in with the mortals, so he only ever presents himself to others in the shape of a human. Even in Hell, Leviathan walks as one of God's children - another laughable notion, no doubt - though he keeps his form out of convenience more so than anything else. For as long as angels have walked the Earth, Leviathan has lived and breathed. Then there were demons, and there was a Hell to house them in, and someone had to guard the portal. That task fell to Leviathan, and millennia have passed since. Regardless of how the mortals perceived of him - an oversized sea-critter personally created by God as a pair, and then later on becoming solo because God went 'oops'? Love it - they wrote about him and believed him to be true, and that was where he drew his power from. Of the times Leviathan did surface on Earth, he spent much of it in Jerusalem, and other parts of Israel. Christianity only started getting imported to America in the later half of the 1600s, and into the 18th century, and Leviathan made his debut appearance in America in the early 20th century. He still spends the bulk of his time in Hell, but as quickly as the world today is changing, that too is always subject to change. Misha Collins is in no way associated with this journal.
