Superhuman Abilities or Powers:
Dimensionally Unstable: Irideon once ate a bag of dimensional fragments after mistaking it for an empowering magical snack. Since then, his tether to reality has become tenuous. Reality occasionally distorts around him. He sometimes gets stuck repeating actions in personal time loops, jammed halfway through solid surfaces, experiences a warped reaction to gravity or teleports short distances at random. He has no control over this. It is harmless to others but occasionally results in him getting stuck in places he doesn’t belong. This has been exacerbated by exposure to dimensionally unstable substances at the aetherogenetics lab, the Abyssal Splinter, and interdimensional experimentation at the Linkgate Foundry. In a more stable reality, this may happen less.
Ascended Daeva: Irideon is a daeva, meaning his physical form is made of aether. It is similar to a human body and is nearly indistinguishable from flesh. It is different in that it is lighter, does not age, and requires little sustenance. Irideon can also manifest very large white and teal feathered wings, which he can use to safely glide from high places, but not fly due to Eerie Harbor’s lack of aether.
Magical Adept: Irideon once had power over the elements and spirits of the nether, but outside of Atreia, his power is limited to creating magical shields and blasts not exceeding human force and dispelling minor enchantments. His sensitivity to other planes is still somewhat accessible, though he has marginal control over it as this is partially related to his dimensionally unstable state in addition to his school of magic. For the most part, he is just closer to his imaginary friends than most, similar to a spiritually sensitive individual or young child.
“Master“ Alchemist: Irideon is an alchemist, meaning that he specializes in brewing potions from herbs, creating minor enchantments, and making ability enhancing brews. Tends to view instructions as loose guidelines. Without aether, his abilities will be limited, but the basic knowledge remains.
Financial Prodigy Irideon has an almost superhuman knack for speculative economics. He isn’t great with the money that he gets from it, though.
Which of these powers might the government have missed during initial processing?
The government probably saw it all. While trying to break free of the facility in a blind panic, Irideon employed everything at his disposal, including using the items in his possession in an attempt to avoid detainment and capture.
How might they mislead the government agents during detainment and processing? (Did they lie about their past? Create a new identity?)
Immediately after falling through the portal, Irideon flew into a panic and tried to hide. When this failed, he threw up his arms in surrender, then collapsed on the ground in an apparent faint. As personnel approached, he waited until there was a moment of opportunity and threw a volley of firecrackers at them, using the commotion to attempt to bolt. While trying to find a way out of the facility, he likely attempted (whether or not he succeeded) to dispatch personnel by clubbing them with Weegeena, to throw logs, flesh, and fireworks at anyone he perceived as a threat, and buff himself with his magical scrolls as he made a do-or-die run for an exit. If he was able to get far enough and did not find an exit, he likely would have used his furniture to barricade himself in a room. If there was someone in there already, he would have taken them hostage, but not harmed them. If given the change, he would likely have attempted to throw himself out a window.
Regardless of how far he was or was not able to get in the facility, he would be able to be talked down after extensive counseling and intervention. Generally, the less he felt threatened, the more warily cooperative he tended to be. When calm, though jumpy, he was affable, talkative, and curious, and after realizing that the facility meant him no immediate harm or experimentation (he blathered on about something called an aetherogenics lab) did not further try to harm others, though his drive to escape persisted.
Brief History: What was going on for them just before they fell through the portal? (Aim for 100-300 words at least, please!)
Before falling through the portal, Irideon stationed was in the space-like void in the hollow part of the planet called the Abyss after a bout of several failed missions and causing too much damage to friendly forces. The Abyss is a source of great dimensional instability and is a frequent site for portals to open to other parts of Atreia and, on occasion, splinter dimensions. He was still part of the Elyos military forces, but had been written off as inept and something of a lost cause. He flew around the Abyss on errand runs, gathering resources and occasionally ending up in combat. His curiosity had him investigating the magical barrier around the enemy landing on his own time, which led to him dying many times. Though still bubbly with others and excited to go on his routines, he spent most of his time exploring alone in the Abyss with his summoned creatures and pets for companionship.
